Some trades I plugged into the trade value machine, based it off the value of the Red Sox getting a value of about 70 in return for 1 year of Betts vs 2 years of Lindor (in a ST trade)

Cle gets: Senzel, India, Galvis (77 value)
Reds get: Lindor (47 value)

Cle gets: Langeliers, Swanson, Waters (78 value)
Atl gets: Lindor (47 value)

Cle gets: Dominguez, Andujar, Schmidt (61 value)

I love Lindor but you seem to be inflating his value a bit too high. Lindor is amazing so I want to preface with that but he has one season over 7 fWAR and 3 seasons total over 5 fWAR. Betts has 4 seasons over 5 fWAR, 2 seasons over 8 fWAR and his MVP season was 10.4 fWAR.

That means 1 season of Mookie is arguably work roughly 1.5x that of Lindor and when you consider the value that it brings to a roster to have so much fWAR in one player you might even push that up to 1.75x.

That being said, I also don't think $47 gets it done, you're probably between $55 and $60 to get the job done.

If I rambled too much let me know and I will clarify any point.

Yes Betts has a higher WAR, but teams value contract length. That 1.75 drops down to about 1 at best when you factor in getting the full extra year of Lindor.

fWar also says Jose Ramirez is nearly just as valuable as Lindor. Ramirez has 1 more year (60 GP Minimum) but has a career 24 WAR to Lindors 27. Ramirez has a season with a fwar over 8, 2 over 5 and 1 at 4.7. Ramirez even has a top 3 MVP finish.

Does that mean Ramirez is going to bring back near the same value as Lindor ? Of course not. Its all about the players talent, how much they can help you win games, not just advanced metrics.

Still lindor is one of the 3 best offensive shortstops in baseball.

I already answered that. "between $55 and $60 million" and the headliner prospect should account for no less than $40 million of that value. We're talking one elite prospect and another very good prospect.

Starting a Tigers franchise. My main goal season 1 is to get Miggy to 500 HR's and just enjoy the long haul until we can be competitive. I am not a Tigers fan. I like the A's. Any moves I could make to bring in former Athletic Josh Reddick or current Athletic Ramon Laureano that makes sense? If I am going to do this thing I want to at least have a couple players that keep it enjoyable for me. Also want to keep it somewhat realistic. Thanks!

Thor has a torn UCL so next to nothing. But if he's healthy in your game those numbers for the NYM are super wrong. 2 years of Thor has some real value

Why bother coming to a trade suggestion thread if you're just going to bitch about the suggestions that people give you? If you don't like the suggestions, go make your own trade and be done with it...

While I'm here - any way the Reds can build a package around Nick Senzel for Ketel Marte? Tried him at both CF and 2B but I'm not really getting anywhere with him. He's such a poor hitter.

If he is healthy in your game he actually has a fair bit of surplus value which would alter the NYM suggestions you had made. Because I don't have access to your console I don't know those answers which is why I asked. If you are not interested in feedback I would be happy to ignore your questions going forward and just help others who want feedback and not confirmation of whatever they already believe

Agreed. This thread has been here to give constructive feedback, some form of fact based logic/value based on real life value, and have it tie into a video game while allowing users to try to save themselves from "cheating" the CPU (if they so choose). If someone is playing with someone that's injured in real life, but isn't in their game, they clearly still have value.

Syndergaard (according to baseballtradevalues.com) had a value around $75 mil before his injury. If he's still playing, his value is somewhere around there. If the user has him manually injured, then the Mets aren't trading him because of his non-existent value. Pretty simple logic.

It's been said a whole lot of times every year that this thread has been going-you're free to play your franchise however you want. If you want help, that's what we can do. If not, enjoy the game
