Hey everyone. So I have a Blue Jays franchise going and I'm about to hit the deadline. Surprisingly I'm only 5 games back of a wild card spot as I sit one game above .500. Really excited for the teams future, but realistically I have no business contending. This young offense can only carry us so far, our starting pitching has been rather bleak.
Already moved a struggling Roark back to the Nats for a lower 1B prospect. Now I'm turning my attention to my one real asset, Ken Giles. He's been very good for me, low 2 ERA and a whip hovering close to 1.05. Following up nicely to last season. I did search the thread and found a couple posts related to him but wanted some new thoughts given him not falling into old habits. Given this info, I've identified the Twins, White Sox, Indians, and the Dodgers as potential suitors. Dodgers may be a surprise, but Jansen has been awful. Like 6.30 ERA awful. The Sox and Indians need another impact arm, they just don't have the depth or talent to win late. At least when I've looked through their relief core. Twins have a 1 game lead on both teams and all 3 central teams have a shot at the number 1 seed.
Any advice? I'm not too set on specific positions. As much as I'd love a haul like the Yankees got when my Cubs traded for Chapman, I realize I need to be more realistic. I'm hoping someone can curb my enthusiasm and bring me down to earth!
Edit: Added the Twins as a potential trade partner, they could use an arm as well.
