Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
Just hit July with my Rays Franchise (57-31, first place) and I’m Looking to trade for a catcher. Miami just put Jorge Alfaro on the Trade block, so I used the trade machine to look for a trade. The best match I found willing to do will be Josh Lowe and Andrew Kittredge for Alfaro. Is it fair enough value for Miami?Comment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
On the eve of the Trade Deadline in my Orioles 30 team franchise mode & thought I'd share some of the trades that I completed for CPU franchises so far. I built out a calculator for determining trade value & then used Fangraphs prospect FV numbers as a guide for determining packages. I play with budgets ON, so I've had to do some basketball trades with sunk cost contracts to make the money work. Feel free to critique or give comments. I'll start with the bigger deals first. Here are the standings as of today.

NYY Receives: LF Tommy Pham (.884 OPS), C Austin Hedges (.663 OPS)
SDP Receives: LF Mike Tauchman (.789 OPS), SS Anthony Volpe, C Josh Breaux, LHP Luis Avilan
The Yanks are in 2nd in the AL East behind the Blue Jays. Padres are in last in the NL West and need to shuffle it up for 2021 and the future. Pham is a FA after 2021 while Hedges has become the backup catcher because of Francisco Mejia's breakout year. Tauchman represents a quality LF who's also under control for the next 4 years building off his strong 2019 season, Volpe is a Top 150-200 young SS prospect, and Breaux represents a power hitting catching prospect. Avilan was included just as a sunk cost contract.
NYM Receives: CF Whit Merrifield (4.2 WAR, .800 OPS)
KC Receives: CF Brandon Nimmo (.683 OPS in 47 games), SS Ronny Mauricio, 3B Mark Vientos
The Mets are just under .500 and may be on the fringes for the playoffs, but they've found their starting CF for the next 4 years. Whit is on an extremely team friendly deal relative to his production and projects to do so for the next few years. Nimmo lost his place in the lineup w/ poor performance and injury problems. It's a good buy-low option for a quality young ML CF. Mauricio is a very young Top 50 prospect & Vientos is a power hitting 3B who might move to 1B down the road. The Mets want to win, and win in the next year or two. The move may not pay off in 2020, but Merrifield projects to be a big piece for them moving forward & for cheap.
CLE Receives: CF Jackie Bradley Jr. (.799 OPS, 3.6 WAR)
BOS Receives: RF Daniel Johnson, LHP Scott Moss, 2B Yu Chang
BOS struggled in 2020 and have committed to rebuilding. Their trade of Jackie Bradley was the first major move. Bradley was having a bounceback year in his final year before FA. CLE has struggled to get production from consistent production from Oscar Mercado & Greg Allen, so Bradley was a good fit. The main piece is RF Daniel Johnson who is a left handed hitting power RF who's outside the Top 100 prospects. LHP Scott Moss is a close to the majors LHP who may eventually move to the bullpen. 2B Yu Chang has lost a bit of his shine from his former prospect status, but still can fit in a utility role & should be up in September.
MIN Receives: LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (2.3 WAR, 3.72 FIP), RHP Brandon Workman (4.38 FIP, 32.2 IP)
BOS Receives: C Ryan Jeffers, RF Matt Wallner, RHP Blayne Enlow, RHP Homer Bailey
The other major trade for BOS, they've decided to ship of LHP Eduardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez has been productive & has been the bonafide ace fro BOS with Chris Sale out for the year. He'll enter his final year of arbitration next year before FA & BOS felt they could get value. Workman has struggled, but has a track record of performance. He'll be a FA after this season. MIN SP have been bad this year with Homer Bailey out for the year since April and Michael Pineda & Rich Hill proving ineffective. They're in the Wild Card race and have decided to make the move that helps them also for 2021. Jeffers & Wallner are power hitting prospects who have a chance to be everyday players. Enlow is a 21 y/o RHP who projects to be a 4th starter. Bailey is out for the year and was included for budget purposes.
CHC Receives: RHP Charlie Morton (1.2 WAR, 4.37 FIP, 4.58 ERA)
TB Receives: C Ethan Hearn, LHP Jose Quintana, RHP Brandon Morrow
TB has been one of the biggest surprises in 2020, posting the worst record in the MLB. It's been a complete implosion with a poor offense & poor pitching staff. Charlie Morton was supposed to be the ace (or at the very least #2) of the TB staff, but father time has hit him hard. A FA after 2020, Morton was a logical choice to be moved at the deadline. The Cubs are leading the NL Central, but face a tough divisional opponent w/ the Reds. LHP Jose Quintana was lost for the season with a labrum injury after the first game of the year & the rotation has been just ok outside of Kyle Hendricks. Looking to turn around his season, CHC decided to acquire Morton. Quintana & Morrow are not expected to pitch for Tampa in 2020 and both will be FA after this year. They are included to help CHC afford Morton's $15.0M salary. The Rays also get 19 y/o catching prospect Ethan Hearn. He has a strong defensive profile, but may struggle to hit. It's been a long fall from grace for Morton and his value.
CIN Receives: CF/SS Jonathan Villar (.751 OPS, 3.3 WAR)
MIA Receives: CF Mike Siani, RHP Vlad Gutierrez
CIN finds themselves in a playoff position at the deadline. It's been neck and neck with the Cubs for the division lead, but a recent downturn has put them on the back foot. With an injury to SS Freddy Galvis who's expected to miss the rest of the year, CIN has decided to push in the chips. They decided to acquire Jonathan Villar from Miami for two prospects. Villar will slide over and play SS for the club while Nick Senzel will stay in CF. Siani is a young CF prospect w/ a light bat while Gutierrez is a close to the majors RHP prospect.
LAA Receives: RHP Jordan Zimmerman (3.55 ERA, 4.26 FIP, 132 IP)
COL Receives: RHP Julio Teheran (5.41 ERA, 4.12 FIP, 126.1 IP)
DET Receives: RHP Dylan Bundy (6.30 ERA, 4.71 FIP, 74.1 IP), 1B Grant Lavigne
Our first three team trade involves three MLB starting pitchers. The Angels have arguably the best offense in baseball, but have been held back by their starting pitching, specifically new acquisitions Julio Teheran and Dylan Bundy. Seeking starting pitching help, they targeted Jordan Zimmerman who was having a come back season in his final year of his contract. Zimmerman's contract is close to $25.0M, so the only way a deal could be done was to trade both Bundy & Teheran. Zimmerman became the Angels' #3 starter (behind Ohtani & Heaney) & Griffin Canning came back from injury to round out the rotation. While Bundy is a buy-low candidate & can become a FA after 2021, Teheran is set to be a FA after the season. DET found COL as a suitor for Teheran. The Rockies have played extremely well w/ one of the best pitching staffs in the MLB. However, they lost LHP Kyle Freeland to an injury for 2-3 months & needed rotation help. Teheran has been a bit unlucky according to FIP & has always been good at limiting HRs. DET ended up flipping Teheran to COL for 1B prospect Grant Lavigne.
COL Receives: CF Jarrod Dyson (.748 OPS, 3.0 WAR)
PIT Receives: 1B Colton Welker, CF Niko Decolati, SS Chris Owings
Colorado also decided to find a new OF after LF Sam Hilliard struggled massively in his first extended showing in the majors. Jarrod Dyson, formerly of the Pittsburgh Pirates, was having a career year in 2020 & fits perfectly in massive Coors Field outfield. Dyson allows David Dahl to move to LF and helps fill a huge need in the lineup for the Rockies. Welker is the 2nd 1B prospect that the Rockies have traded during this period. He projects as a low-end regular while Decolati is more of a lottery ticket CF option. Chris Owings was included for budgetary purposes.
I'll also include other trades that I won't do full write ups for:
CHC Receives: RHP Michael Feliz
PIT Receives: CF Cole Roderer, 3B Christopher Morel
ARZ Receives: RHP Jose Urena (107.2 IP, 3.26 ERA, 3.57 FIP)
MIA Receives: RHP Jon Duplantier, RHP JB Bukauskas, SS Blaze Alexander
ATL Receives: SS Jose Iglesias (.694 OPS, 2.2 WAR) *Swanson out for year*
BAL Receives: 1B Bryce Ball, RHP Freddy Tarnok, SS Adeiny Hechavarria
TOR Receives: 1B CJ Cron (.863 OPS, 3.4 WAR)
DET Receives: C Alejandro Kirk, RHP Eric Pardinho
ATL Receives: RHP Garrett Richards (132.1 IP, 3.81 ERA, 4.06 FIP)
SD Receives: LF Trey Harris, RHP Patrick Weigel
MIL Receives: RHP Anibal Sanchez (134.0 IP, 3.29 ERA, 4.32 FIP)
WSH Receives: RHP Devin Williams, LF Je'Von Ward
CWS Receives: 2B Jonathan Schoop (.835 OPS, 1.6 WAR)
DET Receives: RF Micker Adolfo
LAA Receives: 1B Mitch Moreland (.730 OPS, 0.8 WAR)
BOS Receives: RHP Jose Soriano, RHP Jacob Barnes
NYY Receives: RHP Ivan Nova (127.0 IP, 4.18 ERA, 4.24 FIP)
DET Receives: 2B Josh Smith, RHP Trevor Stephan
ARZ Receives: C Kurt Suzuki (.715 OPS, 112 AB, 0.9 WAR)
WSH Receives: 2B Domingo Leyba, RHP Taylor Widener, RHP Merril Kelly
CHC Receives: RHP Greg Holland (41.2 IP, 2.81 ERA, 2.81 FIP)
KC Receives: 1B Alfonso Rivas, RHP Keegan Thompson
TEX Receives: LHP Andrew Miller (37.2 IP, 2.15 ERA, 2.65 FIP), 3B Brad Miller (.771 OPS, 0.6 WAR)
STL Receives: RHP Jonathan Hernandez, LHP Brock Burke, RHP Cody Allen
TEX Receives: RHP Collin McHugh (107.2 IP, 4.51 ERA, 4.96 FIP)
BOS Receives: 2B Eli White, RHP Jimmy Herget
CIN Receives: LHP Sean Doolittle (27.1 IP, 1.98 ERA, 2.93 FIP)
WSH Receives: CF Mariel Bautista, RHP Joel KuhnelComment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
Any ideas on what it would take to add Archie Bradley to the Mariners in 2020?
I'm not in contention (29-41) and the D'backs are 2nd in the NL West (42-26) and 2 games ahead of the Rockies for the first WC spot. Bradley has been their worst RP (5.10 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 5/10 saves) and was replaced as their closer by Yoan Lopez. He's making $4.1M this year and has one more year of arbitration. I'd like to add him as a reclamation project and hopefully have him closing games for me next season.
When I suggest trades it comes up with RP Matt Festa and UTIL Allen Hanson, both impending FA's, who are making less combined money than Bradley. Festa has a 2.70 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 13.1 IP at AAA and Hanson is batting .298/.359/.475 with 5 HR and 18 RBI in 141 AB's at AAA. Would this be enough or do I need to part with a prospect? Or are their any other similar arms I should be looking at?Comment

You can also control the frequency with which this happens by adjusting the ‘trade frequency’ (iirc) slider in the sliders menu.Comment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
Dominguez, Clarke Schmidt, and Andujar makes the most sense to me. I know that's steep on the trade calculator, but it doesn't account for players of that status very well. If that is too high for some then swapping Andujar for Urshela would make sense.

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
Simmed year 1 of mariners franchise and didnt make any trades.. I'm trying to package Seager and Kirby (A rated pitcher currently at a 71ovr) for a starting pitcher but the cpu is offering trades that are great for me but make no sense for them, looking for ideas for a starting pitcher who isn't a star (75-80ovr range) but usually progresses well in franchise modeComment

That's a stout infield lolGleybar is worth more than Lindor alone. Move him to 2nd and play Lamahieu at 3rd.
