Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

What can I realistically get for this pitcher.

27 years old. Makes 5.3 mil this season and is ARB eligible next season before becoming a FA.

    9-3 with a 3.21 ERA. 95.1 IP, 23 BB, 50 SO. Whip of 1.22 with a 1.1 WAR

Last year (IRL, I'm in year 1 of my franchise) he went 10-7 with a 3.55 ERA with 102 SO and 51 BB in 159.2 IP.

He's listed at a 78 Overall with a green Up arrow.

Going into the season, Zach Davies (You're allowed to use his name...) was worth $2.3 mil in surplus value. Depending on demand, you might be able to get a bit more, but the return for him isn't going to be huge.

Yes i know i could use his name but I wanted an unbiased response based off numbers. I probably won't trade him as im leading the NL West but I know I'm not going to bring him back next year as I'm going to use Gore and Patino and he won't have a spot on my roster. Was thinking of maybe trying to get something for him rather than letting him walk for nothing.

          All good!

WAR doesn't really reward low strikeout pitchers, and his salary/lack of control don't help him either. He's a solid back of the rotation option, who's a bit expensive, but someone who needs some pitching depth would likely give you a "so/so" or "meh" prospect for him. Slightly more than the Chase Anderson trade to the Jays.

Do you have plans to spend during free agency? If not, and you have the money, he's essentially a free rental for the year for you. You can never have too much depth, especially when you're running out multiple rookie starters.

Plus, you're the Padres...do you really need more prospects

Of the guys that you listed, the only one that has positive surplus value is Donavan Solano, and it's $0.8 mil...that's likely enough to get you a low C prospect and a bag of balls.

Of the rest, Longo is the least valuable, at -$46.3 mil (meaning it would take that much in prospect capital just to get rid of him), Cueto is second at -$25.5, Crawford is right behind at -$13.8, and Belt is the most valuable of the bunch, sitting at a meager -$8 mil.

To be honest, that's most likely the Giants haven't moved any of those guys. They'd essentially have to eat 100% of their contracts to even move them.

That’s unfortunately what I assumed was the case. Just wanted an outside perspective.

Was thinking of trying to put together a good 3 team offer to send Cueto to BOS, since they need pitching even next year, for JD Martinez and then try to flip JD to a third team for a prospect or two.

And I was thinking the A’s might be a good spot for Solano since they aren’t getting any production from their 2B options (and DH isn’t doing to well either).

I'll have to see who's available.

              I'll already have locks with

              Chris Paddack
              Dinelson Lamet

              I want to use

              Mackenzie Gore
              Luis Patino

I have ARB for Zach Davies and Garrett Richards who i will debate on.

Also have guys like Joey Lucchesi, Cal Quantrill, Adrian Morejon and Michel Baez I can call on. I'll probably try and trade Lucchesi. Who do you think has more trade value between Lucchesi and Davies?

How do you evaluate trades in future seasons of your franchise? Seeing that the trade simulator wouldn’t take into account less years/money owed/prospect status. Trying to come up with a formula to fairly evaluate a trade since the game engine isn’t that great.

Playing as the Redsox and I'm competing for the WC. made a move to acquire Whit Merrifield at the end of may. Mitch Moreland is out for 2-3 Months. Ryan McMahon isn't seeing much playing time for the Rockies. And I wouldnt mind picking him up, and may even look to bring him back next year to start at first. What would be a realistic deal?

Sonny Gray back to the Yankees, thoughts on what that trade would need to look like? I hate that we let him go when all he needed was a better coaching staff.

It would be really expensive. You probably get to keep Dominguez, but the rest of your prospects would be on the table. Probably one of Schmidt or Garcia plus another real prospect like Alcantara, Duran or Vargas.

Short version, it will cost you a fair bit more than the Yankees got when they sent him away

I’ve finally reached the trade deadline. Made a deal earlier in June for Merrifield, Perez and Barlow. Made a minor deal for Jeffress from the Cubs. Coming up to the deadline I don’t have any massive needs as the lineup and rotation are clicking and I am in full complete mode. I’m looking for a veteran to hold down the 8th until Giles comes up. I just signed Giles to a 5 year extension at around 9.5 M a year so looking for a rental.

I am looking at Colome right now from the White Sox. He’s pitching decent but the Sox are far back of the wild card. His value is only 0.3 on the trade simulator, but surely i would have to pay more??

Are there any ideas of relieves I could target on expiring deals from non-contenders? I could check tomorrow and see who’s out of it.

If he's pitching decent, then you can bump it up a bit, but just think of the small returns that you got for someone like Hudson and Phelps last year.

Colome's issue is more how much he's being paid. Yet another reason why they should let us retain salary in this game hahaha.

German has minimal value because of the DV stuff. Just look at how cheap Chapman was from the Reds due to DV issues himself. And Florial is more of a change of scenery guy than a real prize with his prolonged struggles. I have trouble valuing Garrett. He has all the makings of an elite bullpen guy, he just hasn't been a closer yet.

Also, I don't really follow the Yankees, but didn't German briefly threaten to retire?
