Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

New to the game. I’m approaching mid June and need to start my rebuild. Wade Leblanc has been pitching well for me. 4.55 era with a 1.18 whip. Last year of a 2 mil$ contract. I have some offers when I click on suggestions but was wondering if those will get better/worse over time.

Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

Currently at the start of June and I am first in the Al East. Kansas City are last in their division and are 11 games back of the wild card. I’m thinking of making a big splash. I was going to trade Groshans + Alford for Merrifield.

However, Sal Perez would be a nice addition to my team. Haven’t gotten much from McGuire or Jansen. Figured Perez would cost a lot, but he’s -6 on the trade value calculator. Here are two deals I worked out as dead even on the calculator.

Blue Jays get: Merrifield, Perez, Singer
Royals get: Groshans, McGuire, Alford, Dasan Brown or Pardinho.

      OR

Blue Jays get: Merrifield, Perez, Barlow, Pratto
      Royals get: Groshans, McGuire, Davis

Thinking option two would be more appealing for the royals. They don’t have to give up Singer in the deal. I guess I’m confused as Perez’s trade value is very low. Would like some feedback on this and any suggestions on would be great! Would like to base the deal around Merrifield/Perez and Groshans/McGuire.

Doing a Mariners rebuild what do you think are some realistic trades for players like Mitch Haniger, Marco Gonzalez, Mallex Smith and Yusei kikuchi?

I don’t see why the Royals would want to trade a prospect in this deal, especially Singer. They paid him a $4.2 million bonus less than 2 years ago and I believe he’s their clear top pitching prospect. Assuming he’s in there to offset the negative value of Salvy which is foolhardy from the Royals’ perspective. Singer isn’t untouchable if I’m the Royals GM but I’m certainly not trading him if I’m rebuilding (which it sounds like they are).

Thanks for the advice! I don’t need Singer back, was just going on trade values. Could you help me work out a deal to get Merrifield and Perez?

I’m happy to take on Perez’s salary.

Groshans, McGuire, Davis (or evening Alford maybe) for Merrifield, Perez, Barlow, Pratto?

            Does that work?

If I’m Royals GM I’d push for Merrifield for Groshans straight up, which is a bit of an overpay for the Jays. If you want Perez as well it tips the value in the Royals favor because of the contract reduction, so I’d throw in a low-minors prospect in the 2-value range (Jeisson Guzman?) Adding Barlow or Pratto tips the scales back in the Jays favor, and I’m not so sure how much the Royals would want McGuire or Davis. Once it gets up to 3-4 players per side it gets messy for my liking lol.

So if I’m pretending to be the KC GM here, I offer Merrifield and Salvy + a prospect in the 2-value range of your choosing for Groshans.

Sorry I misspoke, Merrifield is currently more valuable than Groshans according to the calc. So I’m pushing to attach Salvy in order to get the salary reduction but would reluctantly accept if you asked to throw in a 2-value prospect to even things out. I’m not interested in giving up Pratto just to get McGuire but if it makes sense on the calc then don’t let me stop you either

Nah man this is why I come on here. I appreciate your input.

So you’re saying Perez, Merrifield and a low value prospect like Guzman I could get for Groshans?

I could add McGuire for Barlow to give them back a young, starting catcher Barlow has an ERA around 8 and McGuire struggling. Both could use a change of scenery and are a position of need for each team. Salary calculator says even for both.

Perez, Merrifield, Barlow and Guzman for Groshans and McGuire?

Yeah OK I’d take that. Royals get a legit big-time position player and an assumed starting catcher to bridge the gap between Salvy and I assume MJ Melendez. Makes sense.

Yea, Perez has been hurt a lot of the year so Gallagher and Dini have been playing so far. McGuire would be a nice tandem with Melendez.

Thanks a lot. I’ll pull the trigger on the deal this evening! Gotta make a push as I’m in first, but some weaknesses have been evident early.

Astros trade: Korey Lee C and Alex McKenna CF to Pirates for: Joe Musgrove P. Trade simulator does not approve whatsoever but pirates are 17.5 GB and in rebuild mode. It’s only June 13th so it is early to trade arguably your best asset and musgrove is under control till 2022 but I really dont have a problem with it. Pirates have made some bad moves before. Anyone think this is egregious enough to reverse

If you're the team getting Musgrove you really need to up your offer. This doesn't come close

It was a AI trade, Doesn’t involve me at all. I will reverse a trade if it’s really bad though. For example Mets tried to trade Baty then Vientos for some D pot Tampa prospect who OV was in the 60s . I reversed it and since the Mets and Rays were adamant on making a trade for this particular player and a Mets 3bman I sent a trade that made sense. Otherwise I like to stay out of the AIs way when they manage.

So when I get back to the game I will look into overriding it to Musgrove for Josh James , Korey Lee, and J. Brewer/McKenna. Brewer value would be acceptable but I don’t wanna be the overriding every questionable trade that happens. Trying to find that balance

I moved the Marlins to Montreal and thinking about bringing back Miggy from Detroit. He is one of my favorites and is not starting in Detroit. I know they would be willing to give him up. We are just after the Allstar game and Detroit is 17.5 GB and we are 2 GB of the wildcard.

What kind of deal will it look like to get Miggy? I am assuming Detroit will trade one of their starting pitchers as well to get back a decent prospect.
