Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

Alright. I'm back looking to make another trade here at some point throughout the month of July whether that be before or after the ASG.
    Here's some background:
I'm Atlanta and I'm sitting at 58-26, 9.5 Games at the top of the NL East.
I'm wondering exactly how realistic this trade could be.

Felix Hernandez has found his old self with Atlanta posting a 3.46 ERA through 91 IP in 16 Games. His FIP is sitting at 3.99.
I plan on getting him 2-3 more starts before moving him near the deadline.

I'm thinking I could move him to a playoff team in need of a 4/5th starter in exchange for a High C/ Low B prospect.

I've had Touki Toussaint in the pen on some long relief duty and he's been spectacular so I 'm ready to give him a shot in the rotation. I'm also ready for Newcomb to be recalled to replace Hernandez.

Granted King Felix continues his career resurgence at age 32, here are the teams and prospects I think could be a decent trade. I would include trade values, but at this point in the year they wouldn't be accurate to how my franchise is playing out.

Also I'm only looking for a 1 for 1 deal so if a team has multiple prospects listed, I'll only trade for one.

    Cubs
    Team ERA (4.50)
    4.0 GB
    Aramis Ademan 21 YO 67 B
Reasoning: Has Nico Hoerner over him| Cubs Starting Pitching has been brutal. Lowest Starter ERA is 4.35

    Reds
    Team ERA (4.29)
    5.0 GB
    Rece Hinds 19 YO 64 B
    Mariel Bautista 21 YO 60 B
Reasoning: Starting Pitching has been rough as well. Sonny Gray doing well but is out for 2 months due to injury. 5th starter Wade Miley has 7.60 ERA thru 55 IP

    Angels
    Team ERA (4.23 ERA)
    Tied for 1st AL West
    Jose Rodriguez 23 YO 70 C
    Luis Rengifo 23 YO 74 C
    D'Shawn Knowles 19 YO B

Reasoning: Top SP's have struggled. All have sky rocket high ERA's. Need help to support offense.

    Astros
    Team ERA (4.53)
    1.5 GB
    Abraham Toro 23 YO 71 C
    Grae Kessinger 22 YO 66 C
    Freudis Nova 20 YO 63 B
    Myles Straw 25 YO 69 B

Reasoning: All SP's over 4.30 ERA's| 3-way race for first in division

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

I'm seven days away from the All-Star break and I'm going to make a few moves, calling guys up, sending some down, etc. One switch in particular involves Nico Hoerner, who I feel like is ready for a shot at a permanent spot on the roster. He was with the Cubs earlier in the year and had 24 at-bats in which he had 6 hits including a home run and drove in four runs.

On the flip side, the obvious switch is Daniel Descalso. He's on the last year of his deal, is 33, and while having a decent year for a bench player it's nothing spectacular, pretty much average. The question is what to do with him? What would really happen in this situation? An aging veteran who's been on Major League clubs most of his career. I'm not sure if he's had stints in the minors, but I'll check. Would it be likely to designate a guy like him for assignment? I don't assume he has any trade value, if he did I'd be willing to deal him for just about anyone and anything. Ha.

Realistically, I’m pretty sure he can’t be sent down without going on waivers. Descalso has negative trade value. You’re right, the best bet is likely to DFA him, though if you’re competing, you might want to try to keep a bench spot for him unless you have someone else in the minors that can fill in if you run into injury problems.

        Tough decision for sure!

I have a few options if I had an injury. For example:

I want Nico Hoerner up for Descalso as it is. So if Hoerner or Kipnis were to go down I could turn to Hernan Perez. If I had further injury it might put me in a bind.

I was thinking along similar lines here. Only reason I offered the low B suggestion was the fact he was 32. In my head I imagine him being 36-37.

You probably think he is that old because he debuted at 19

Need some help on a trade scenario for Mike Trout. I know in real life he's not going anywhere, but in my carryover franchise he's in the 3rd year of a 5 year deal with Texas. Texas is 20 plus games under .500 and out of both the WC and Division. They are looking to move Trout.

The Rangers offered me Trout for Heyward straight up. Their overalls and ages are similar Heywards an 84 overall 32yo and Trout is 89, 30yo. Heyward is on the last year of his deal.

I'm looking to add some players on my side but think a trade in this scenerio is realistic.

Any advice on what I should include?

Starting to get close to the All Star break in a Blue Jays Franchise (2nd in the WC race) and was looking to deal for a Center Fielder with years of control to bolster a weak defensive outfield. I had 3 targets in mind, but needed help with their realism+ possible deals
Byron Buxton- .260 avg, 7HRs, .300 OBP - Twins are 27-42 with Kiriloff hitting really well in the minors
Whit Merrifield- .303 avg 10HRs, .345 OBP- Royals are 24-45
Kevin Kiermaier- .247 avg, 13 HRs, .289 OBP- Rays are 34-34 with Margot out-hitting him in Center

Willing to move any prospect besides Nate Pearson and to a lesser degree Alek Monoah.

I’m also checking into Merrifield. Someone suggested this back a while ago:

                          Merrifield for Hiraldo / Moreno / Woods-Richardson.

I’m using the Blue Jays, currently in 1st in the East 50 games in. Everyone is doing well with the exception of my catching core. Am looking at Yan Gomes from Washington who is also in first but he is struggling hitting under 200 with 3 HR. He would be as much a contract dump as anything for the Nats at this point. Wondering what u guys would think he would cost me

If you’re looking for a good defender with years of control, and as well as someone who can hit for average, Ender Inciarte from ATL is a good fit.

The problem is that any CF who are actually good and controlled are going to cost a pretty penny. You could do Inciarte like the last guy mentioned if you want a below average hitter who is pretty much a left handed Kevin Pillar. The Merrifield wouldn't be cheap either because his deal is so team friendly. There's no realism to the Twins trading Buxton. The Ray would probably trade KK but you're in their division so they much upcharge a little bit
