Anyway, I'm into May now and I'd really like to bolster my bullpen, especially with high K/9 guys. I'm open to trading some B level prospects as I'm not trying to get a marquee guy necessarily. Here's who I have on my list as potential targets...

Andrew Chafin (Arizona): 0-1, 2.61 ERA, 13 SO, 10.1 IP. He's currently serving as the closer as Archie Bradley has not done well. Chafin has 11 saves on the year.

29-years old and on the last year of his deal. He's having a good year so far and the Diamondbacks are 15-17.

Kyle Barraclough (Padres): He's yet to pitch in 2020 as he's currently injured. He should return in a couple weeks. I'm sure he'd cost me a lot more since he has a B potential and is only 28. He'd probably be my #1 guy I'd really like to have if the price is right. He's not a free agent until 2023.

Adam Ottavino (Blue Jays): 0-0, 2.77 ERA, 13.0 IP, 20 SO. 34-years old and two years remaining on his contract, including this year.

Jake Diekman (Athletics): 1-0, 6.75 ERA, 6.2 IP, 11 SO. 33-years old and two years remaining on his contract, including this year.

    CUBS GIVE UP....?

Here's what I'd be willing to give up for one of these. Let me know if you think it would work...

    Any of these prospects:

    3B Christopher Morel: 20-years old, B potential, 62 OVR

SS Aramis Ademan: 21-years old, B potential, 66 OVR

SS Luis Vergundo: 19-year old, B potential, 51 OVR

LF Jose Gutierrez: 21-year old, B potential, 55 OVR

    MLB players:

    CF Albert Almora Jr.

POSSIBLY... but I'd really rather not

SS Nico Hoerner: 22-years old, A potential, 68 OVR

    3B David Bote: 26-years old, B potential, 76 OVR

If there's any other guys with high K/9 attributes that you can think of I'd be interested as well. I tried to select teams that a) the Cubs were likely to trade with and b) that are likely not contenders this year as it's still early in the season.

How are the Rays doing in your Franchise? They have plenty of high K RP, also the Reds have a few but might be weird if they are contenting in your division.

That said, they should probably be playing Grichuk in CF and looking to acquire a bat for RF.

As for the rest of the teams, Pittsburgh probably seems like the best fit. Although, Jarrod Dyson would already be there and be a similar type of player.
he's been pretty awful at the dish, but has played a solid CF. I edited my original post with the teams' record/standing.

The Pirates have been playing Dyson in left and Reynolds in center, but with Reynolds out for 2 months, they're left with Heredia.

My main goal with dealing Inciarte is to open up a roster spot, so I'm okay with losing value.

They’re currently 16-24, 8.0 games out in the AL East and 7.0 games out of a Wild Card. However, it’s only May 8th.

I’d be interested in any relief pitchers that have high K/9 ratings.

I looked at the Rays relievers and yeah, there’s a lot of high K/9 guys. Pretty much all of them are under team control for a while and I get it that I’d have to give up a little more for one of them potentially. I also looked at the Rays needs. It seems they’re pretty thin at third base.

I’m definitely not parting with Bryant (just yet) but what would the interest be for the Rays in David Bote?

The current Rays third baseman is Yandy Diaz. He’s 28, 70 overall and has B potential. Bote is younger (26), higher rated (76) and is also a B prospect. So he’s an obvious upgrade. Both guys are under team control through 2024. So the question is, would the Rays look to trade one of their relievers for Bote? If so, which one?

Additionally.... after looking at their bullpen even more, what would it cost to just go big and get their top reliever, Jose Alvarado?

I'm not looking for a good return, just trying to create some space on the roster and maybe find a guy that can contribute throughout the season.

Looking at the following as possibilities:

Toronto (19-21, 4th in AL East) - The Blue Jays are playing a platoon of Fisher/Alford in center. Teoscar Hernandez is on the 60-Day IL and Fisher and Alford are both replacement level players.

Colorado (15-24, 4th in NL West) - David Dahl isn't a true centerfielder and is far better in one of the corners. This would allow Colorado to platoon Inciarte and Tapia in center and shift Dahl back to left. However, they do currently have Desmond, Daza, Tapia, Hilliard, Dahl, and Blackmon on the active roster, so not sure if they need another outfielder.

Arizona (20-20, 2nd in NL West) - Could send him back to Arizona. The D'Backs currently have Jon Jay as their 4th outfielder. Inciarte is certainly an upgrade over Jay, especially defensively.

Pittsburgh (15-24, 5th in NL Central) - Bryan Reynolds is out for the next 1-2 months with an injury, leaving Guillermo Heredia as the Pirates everyday CF.
I can’t see Pittsburgh dealing for a guy like Inciarte - they are not contending this year and are notoriously stingy with money. Especially right after trading Starling Marte off in the offseason who is a superior player (albeit making just a bit more money). But yeah I doubt Pittsburgh in real life is worried about plugging holes at the MLB level at the expense of money or prospects.

I could see my Yankees going after a guy like Inciarte for centerfield depth and a lefty bat (which they lack after Gardner and Tauchman). It’s kind of part of their MO to bring in veterans to fit their system (Maybin, Encarnacion, Kendrys Morales just last year, the list is long). In real life Hicks and Judge are both injured until summer so depending on the state of your franchise its a possibility.

Is there any reason the pirates would be looking to move Josh Bell? He got traded for in my RTTS and am just curious on if they would actually move him, regardless of the value in return

This trade was accepted on the simulator. I feel like it would benefit both teams. As I (the Cubs) need bullpen help and the Rays need help on offense.

                Bote for Alvarado

They probably move him before he hits FA, but not yet. Bell is still under team control for another 2 seasons after this year. My guess is next offseason or maybe even next trade deadline is the start of the window where they seriously look to trade him. They most likely won’t contend before his contract is up and there’s not much reason to believe they’ll pay up to extend or resign him, plus Boras is his agent so a pretty team friendly extension is even more unlikely.

In my own opinion if the return is right it makes enough sense to me for them to move him as soon as this trade deadline, but that’s my best guess on when we actually see it happen.

I'm I'm year 2021. Neither are my teams but Phillies made a play to start the season after losing in the World Series in 20!

                    Phillies - Whit Merrifield

Royals - Alec Bohm, Luis Garcia

Looking at add some rotation help to my Yankees, if the Cubs are still looking to drop salary to afford Baez and the crew, is there a reasonable trade that nets them Darvish? Was thinking something in the Cessa + Florial + Abreu with money coming back initially.

Anyt eam getting Darvish as a salary dump would also be getting a Top 10 prospect attached to him.

                        Not giving up prospects.

Base it off of the Zack Cozart trade to get ideas.

what about something like Inciarte and Yonder Alonso for Mike King?

Alonso has been raking in Triple-A and gives the Yankees a potential left handed power bat off the bench and some depth if Voit was to go down. Jordan Montgomery has been great for the Yankees in the back end of the rotation for the Yankees and while Severino is out for the season, Paxton is still about to come back, so King is more expendable.

If King is too much, what about Inciarte/Alonso for someone like Jonathan Holder? Or maybe a deal for Tyler Wade or Thairo Estrada?

Do you guys do contract extensions? I’m interested in resigning Judge until his age 31 or 32 season. What would a realistic salary be and is there any benefit in back loading?

To help facilitate this my pipe dream is to off load Happ but haven’t really found a way unless I give up something I don’t want to at this stage. Although Addison Russell is lurking in the Free Agents....

I don't think the Rays would do this.

The most likely outcome Rays do this season is move Willy Adames to 3B and Wander Franco at SS.
