Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
Last year was a bit of an outlier for him. His projections are 2020 are far different than what we saw from him last night. He's a good closer, but won't get an Andrew Miller/Aroldis Chapman/Brad Hand type haul. Plus he's a half-season rental for an injury prone arm. A top 5 prospect like Alzolay and a 10-15 prospect would probably be fair for Giles imo.Comment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
I had an idea that might benefit both teams, let me know what you think and what a trade might look like.
So, I am in Y1 of a Toronto franchise. Practically no money on the books and I need another front end starter to pair with Ryu/Pearson when he develops. So, I was thinking I could get Sale from Boston for almost nothing given he is out for the year and his contract is hurting Boston, but wouldn’t really impact me.
I have confidence Sale will rebound in 2021 when he’s healthy and Boston could use that money to lock up Rodriguez/Benintendi/Devers/etc or use it towards a free agent who is a better fit.
Let me know if this is realistic at all and what a trade might look like!Comment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
In my Montreal (Marlins) franchise, I am thinking about making a few deals. I have found a few on Baseball Trade Values and saw some that were interesting. I am not sure of the value though.
1. Stl R Sanchez (pitcher) 64 ovr, E Sosa (2b) 60 over, M Weiters (C) 68 ovr
Mon sends Cervelli 70 ovr, Villar 85 ovr
Doesn't seem like Mon is getting enough back.
2. NYY M Andujar (3b) 80 ovr, C Frazier (Lf) 68 ovr
Mon sends C Smith (pitcher) 73 ovr
Seems NYY sending way too much
3. Cleve B Hand (CP) 87 ovr
Mon sends B Garrett (pitcher) 58 ovr, M Givin (pitcher)
Seems Cleve sending too much
4. SD A Morejon (Pitcher) 63 ovr, W Myers 76 ovr, Trammell (LF) 67 ovr
Mon sends C Smith (pitcher) 73 ovr
5. Mil M Feliciano (C) 60 ovr, T Taylor (LF) 68 ovr
Mon sends M Rojas (SS) 76 ovr
6. Tex R Guzman (1B) 71 ovr, C Seise (SS)
Mon sends Villar 85 ovr
I would really like to move 1b J Aguilar and SP J Yamamoto as well. I am not sure I want to trade Villar.
Any input on any of these trades?
Thanks NickComment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
With the Arenado Cardinals rumors continuing to at least be, well, rumors, I'm curious what you guys think a fair deal within the game would be. I would think Liberatore would likely be in the deal, and probably Gorman as well. O'Neill or Hudson could also be included, and have been in various rumors. Not sure what else would go in either direction to make it work, but I'm interested to hear what you guys think would be a good trade for both sides. The baseballtradevalues Trade Simulator has Liberatore straight up as a fair deal (if I'm reading it correctly), but I don't think that's close to a realistic trade, as the Cardinals would need to give up more.Comment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
What was generally agreed upon is that the game will accept an offer far below what would likely be expected in real life. I'm looking to do it in a realistic fashion, and was looking for feedback. I know you've responded to bryan's post about Arenado to the Cardinals; really the only time this was addressed within the entire thread, but even in reading that, it leaves me in the same exact spot. If you don't wish to provide any feedback, by all means, please don't, but your pissy "use the search function" attitude can gtfo.Comment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
This is a drastic overstate with a piss poor tone. In fact, I've followed this thread, and while there's of course been plenty of discussion of Nolan, the few questions posed regarding what appears to be his most likely landing spot have been largely unsubstantiated. It seems like most people, like myself, have essentially explored some of the potential names that could be involved, prospect and controllable asset and otherwise, but nobody has really hammered down what a legitimate trade like this might look like.

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
Thank you very much. In the reading and such I had somehow missed this explanation, and I like it very much. Greatly appreciated.
I'll stand by the desire for a little courtesy and kindness, but with how crazy the world has been, it's understandable that everyone can be a little on edge. If I came off over the top (certainly not my intent, but looking back, I understand how I could've easily come off that way), I apologize to RickP and whomever else, for cluttering things unnecessarily.
Thank you again.Comment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
I'm not doing a 30 team control, but I wanted to make a 3 team trade (I'm playing an Indians franchise), so i took over control of the Dodgers and Reds to make the following trade:
Indians receive:
Josiah Gray
Kody Hoese
Hunter Greene
Nick Lodolo
Nick Senzel
Tyler Stephenson
Dodgers receive:
Francisco Lindor
Nick Wittgren
Sam Hentges
Michael Lorenzen
Reds receive:
Mike Clevinger
Brad Hand
Corey Seager
It's a huge blockbuster (approved by baseballtradevalues.com) and it gives the Dodgers another star player with the possibility of extending him if they would choose to do so. The Reds go from outsider to serious contender in the central and the Indians get a lot of talent not too far removed from the majors, basically retooling while trying to stay competitive.
Obviously such a big trade would probably not happen in real life due to the amount of pieces moving and maybe the money involved. However, I felt it wasn't too unrealistic as I tried to respect each team's position and future outlook. The Reds obviously gave up a lot (their top 4 prospects) but they also get one of the best starters with reasonable team control, a good closer to ride out the season and a relatively young shortstop with also some team control to add to an already strong lineup. Maybe I could have let them keep Lodolo and send another good Dodgerts pitching prospect the Indians way (like Gonsolin).Comment

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread
Searching "arenado" in this thread literally returns 51 results. So, the only person "on edge" in that dialogue was you. If you don't want to be sassed, then try being correct when you say or post something.
You clearly didn't search properly (or at all) and you're mad that somebody pointed that out. Then when you get the answer you were looking for, you apologize to "RickP" -- who the heck is that? If it is the guy that sassed you, then you got his name wrong -- making you wrong for the 2nd time in 3 posts.
If you would like a little "courtesy and kindness" then the rest of us should expect some competency and accuracy in your posting habits.
But I digress. I'm in April in my Jays franchise and looking to trade Teoscar. Are there any clubs that would be interested in a straight swap of struggling outfielders or would he have to be packaged with someone like Giles? I'm looking for a fielding upgrade, so I would be okay with a less power inclined player than Teoscar, if they can play a decent CF.
Thank you very much. In the reading and such I had somehow missed this explanation, and I like it very much. Greatly appreciated.

The Reds for example just hemorrhage prospects in order to get a great SP, but they already have one of the 3 best rotations in the NL without any additions. I don't see they blowing through their prospect capital for another pitcher. The Dodgers also seem like they aren't giving up nearly a good enough prospect headliner to get Lindor. I can't see them keeping Lux, May, Ruiz, Gonsollin, etc.
I will do my best to map this out, but off the cuff it seems like the Dodgers make out really well, the Reds cut off their thumb to spite their face, and the Indians reload to an extreme degree.Comment

I saw an idea back further that discussed Giles or Kay for Joc Pederson on LAD. He’s has good fielding ratings.
