Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

I'm the Rays (changed to Montreal Expos).

I am thinking outside the Rays box here and maybe looking at Lindor, Arenado or Bryant - all of whom were in rumors this offseason. Would a package of X. Edwards, B. McKay, and Tsutsugo or Yandy Diaz get the ball rolling? It's a new era with new ownership in Montreal!

Secondarily, I'm interested in Oscar Mercado, but the Indians would likely never trade him unless they were getting back Snell, Glasnow, Meadows, or Wander.

At the trade deadline in my twins franchise. Doing 30 team control though to keep things realistic. Terrible Mets can’t even afford to sign their draft picks and it’s time for a fire sale. Lol
Already traded Strowman to the Brewers. Now looking to trade relief pitcher Dellin Betances. What kind of prospects should I be looking to get for him?

Last year of a 10 million dollar contract. 2.77 era and 1.64 whip in 40 appearances out of the pen. 32 years old. Career 2.40 era and 1.10 whip.

What should I be looking to get for Rick Porcello as well?

31 year old starting pitcher. 4.26 era and 1.37 whip in 20 starts this year. Era and whip right at his career averages. Last year of a 10 million dollar contract

I would think the teams would only trade those players for youth, so Diaz and Tsutsugo wouldn’t be in play in that trade. Would have to add another prospect, maybe Brujan or Greg Jones?

Then can flip Diaz or Tsutsugo to a contenting team for Meh, depending on how there performing.

Also, how do you afford Arenado?

Tsutsugo was just signed from over seas so there's not much realism to trading him. McKay as a headliner will be able to get you into just about any trade possible. That combined with the Rays deep farm system means you could trade for just about anyone the Ray think they can afford.

Good point - after posting, I thought that Adames would be a better fit if I was trading for Lindor.

              Cardinals fan/Franchise here...
              Lookin at two possible trades.

Looked at the Rockies to see who they wanted for Arenado. Colorado wants Mikolas , Gorman and Carpenter

The other.. I was looking to see what the Indians wanted for Lindor... and they want Mikolas and DeJong.

              Thoughts?

I dont think either get a deal done. I'm not an expert on this stuff, so I'd let someone else help you out. But I know for a fact both of those are far off

why would either of those teams entertain these offers? They get nothing in return for their superstar players

Probably not much. Someone like Bote or Alzolay would probably get it done by themselves, maybe even getting another replacement level player back on your end. But you have to take into account the back-end reliever premium at the trade deadline so you'll probably give up more value than you'd get in return.

Almost in June in my Braves franchise. Currently sitting at the top of the NL East with a few game lead and I'm searching for a catcher.

Tyler Flowers is on the IL for a few months and Travis d'Arnaud has been a black hole at the plate, hitting under the Mendoza line. Any reasonable moves for a catcher with some pop since I don't want to promote Contreras or Langeliers too early

im a Die hard Cards fan but it would definitely take more than those 3 .. id say for Arenado it would be Gorman Libertore and Oneill or Bader or Hudson should get the job done and for Lindor id say Dejong and Libertore or O'neill

I’m in the exact situation you are. D’arnaud, although he has decent attributes for a catcher, absolutely cannot hit for me. Flowers is struggling bad as well.

A guy who might not be a bad get, which also will keep you from trading, is Nick Hundley. If I remember correctly he has very nice hitting against lefties and is serviceable in the field. He’s currently a FA

Why would Giles be so easy to get? I know he only has one year of control left, but he's fairly highly rated.
