Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

I'm in the 2020 season with the Pirates doing a soft rebuild with hopefully a quick turnaround. I signed Bell, Reynolds and Newman to contracts that buy a year of FA. I'm five games away from the All-Star break and 11 games under 500. I think my tradable assets are Archer and Kela and maybe Polanco. I already dealt Dyson in June for prospects....

My question is I'd like to get Brendan McKay. The Ray's are in the hunt still and McKay is their 6th starter long man. I want him because he's from Pittsburgh and my son plays against his travel team that he played on and I'd like to have a two-way player. Kela for McKay straight up? Kela having a better season in game rating up to 84 atm ..

I don't see them wanting Archer back and they don't need polanco because they have Meadows. Polanco is having a monster season for me btw

Gonna need some more context here. What’s McKays’ #’s like this year? What’s his OVR and POT? I highly doubt they would trade a rising 2-way prospect like McKay for 1 1/2 years of a 27 YO reliever.

I’m not going to do the Bote Alvarado deal since it seems to be unrealistic, which as I’ve thought about it, I believe it to be.

However, if anyone can think of any good relievers that the Cubs could possibly acquire, I’m all ears.

McKay is still their #2 prospect and a top 20 overall prospect. I don't see the Rays dealing him for Kela straight up when they already have a very good bullpen. Plus, Morton is 38 and expires in 2021 so McKay is their next man up in the rotation.

If you're going to deal Kela for McKay you'll probably have to throw in someone like Hayes, Priester, Swaggerty, and/or Mallone.

Have you thought about bringing back Vizcaino and signing him from Free Agency? 75 OVR I believe. Struggles with control but high K/9 and H/9

Makes sense. Probably just wishful thinking just really want a two-way guy. I try to play as realistically as possible so I don't think I will force that especially since McKay is probably just about untouchable in real life. Michael lorenzen is another possibility but Iglesias is struggling an the reds are running away with the Central and they are using him as a closer. Not likely trade candidate

Since I am using 30 team control I was able to get creative in my deal to bring Bryant to Philadelphia.

                      Phillies: Bryant

Cubs: Stott, Eflin, Segura, and $24 million in funds.

You can't trade funds in the game. But Cubs would decline this even if you could.

They would want Brohm back in any trade, and have no need for Segura. Cubs want to get younger and restock the prospect pool with any trade involving their big 4

I'll look over these and explore those options. Ironically, as my team is struggling mightily at the moment, Bote has emerged as someone I've been relying on. Maybe I shouldn't trade him. Haha

Using RidinRosters... 2020 season nearing end of April

I’m sitting at 19-6 as Atlanta. Good for 4 games up in the NL East. The Braves are a solid squad this year, and through 25 games my pitching has been superb. My Team ERA is sitting just below the 3.00 mark. Offensively, we started off pretty slow, only scoring over 4 runs in a game once through 10 games. Luckily, we’ve since picked it up.

The problem lies within the bottom of my lineup. My guys down there have been a little below serviceable level with the exception of a guy or two. I’m looking to upgrade my RF spot as right now I’m platooning Adam Duvall and Ender Inciarte who are doing fine as a platoon. However, I want another guy who can put some runs on the board with one swing.

Here’s what I’m thinking.. I trade for an OF that has some years of control, and most likely let Ozuna walk this offseason since he’ll be asking for above a Qualifying Offer I’m sure.
Then by next year I should have an outfield of Acuna, Trade Aquiree, Pache/Waters

The player I’m looking into most at the moment is Kyle Schwarber. 26 YO, 1 yr/7m contract. Roughly 2 years of control left.

Being it’s only nearing May, I won’t give player stats thus far since it’s such a small sample size.

I mocked up a trade on Baseball Trade Values and this is what I got

I’m thinking I may need to add one more guy in to make it totally fair. Some background on the two guys there look like this :
Muller: High Velo 22 YO Minors SP Career 3.03 ERA 9.3 K/9 also an outstanding 0.5 HR/9
Trey Harris: 24 YO Minors OF Career BA. .317/.366 Last year| .876 OPS (Also edited his potential Pre-Franchise from C to a B-)

Again, I feel like I need one more guy in here to make it a fair deal. I’m thinking maybe Ynoa or Tarnok.

Using the Player Value formula(if I did it right), Schwarber is sitting at a 9.4M value which I find low I believe.

                            Thoughts?
You probably need to bump Muller up to Bryse Wilson. And be sure you're putting Trey Harris in the BTS website. Michael Harris is also an OF prospect and much higher rated. You likely put Michael Harris into BTS on accident.

So Wilson and Michael Harris would be worth $23.4 million to Schwarber's 23.5 which is obviously closer to value and more likely to happen since CHC needs pitchers with team control who can contribute soon and Wilson has a little MLB experience.

Good answer there. Currently, I don’t have M. Harris on my roster due to roster limit constraints. Also, relative to in game OVR, I think Bryse Wilson is pretty terribly rated because he got roughed up a few games last year so for whatever reason SDS thought a guy who got banged up in a few starts at age 22 should be a 59 OVR now. So that’s why I had Muller over him because I figured it’d be more fair. Although I’m thinking now about editing Wilson and Creating Harris to get the deal done. Thanks for the input.

Totally forgot we managed to sign Harris after a 3rd round selection.

Don’t forget, Bryant is a FA after this season in the game. I was already told Stott and Eflin were viable based on the trade calculator and a previous post in this thread. I actually wanted to hold onto Segura since he was hitting well and playing good defense, but I figured the Cubs could use him. Didn’t want them to have to eat all his salary, though, which is why I gave them all that cash.

If this still seems unfair I’ll happily give them another prospect, but it won’t be Bohm or Howard.
