Who's the one player (or more) who throws at least six pitches with relative consistency? I just did a data pull from baseball savant and it returned zero results. Granted, I had my code only looking for players with at least six pitches and each pitch thrown at least 8% of the time. Maybe I need to lower the threshold...

Jameison Taillon should fall in that category, but I'm not sure. (EDIT: yep, according to Baseball Savant [wow what a website, I have to explore this more] his least thrown pitch is his changeup and he throws it 8.9% of the time).

And I don't know how many pitchers maybe have a 4-seam, 2-seam, cutter, then three other pitches (changeup and two breaking pitches), but it's likely.

And Carlos Rodon never throws his changeup, but he has one and on the off-chance that he throws it, the game should be emulating that in his repertoire. I assume it does, but he also only has four pitches. The point is that the rarity of the occurrence shouldn't determine whether the game has that for that pitcher or not.

I should've clarified. I meant rarity in "not a guy who throws a pitch a less than 10 times in a season in which he throws over 1000 pitches". I don't think the game should be expected to emulate a 0.1% chance of something happening. There are much bigger fish to fry in my opinion.

My threshold was higher than I thought at 10%, once I lowered it, Taillon was returned. I lowered it to 2% for fun and got a few more returns (like Lou Trivino of Oakland). A handful of players throw a pitch ~4% of the time.

I wonder if OOTP allows more than 5 pitches...

From the Mets Taijuan Walker and Chris Bassitt, I’m sure there are plenty of other starters

any ideas on how a 6th pitch would map out controller-wise?
maybe a combo selection of buttons

There would have to be a button used as a modifier (one of the triggers I assume). This is how Pro Yakyuu Spirits handles multiple pitches of the same direction.

Throwing to bases should be fully contextual and should make sense. If I throw to a base and release it early, it should (depending on the arm angle) fly higher or wider than it's intended target. Release it too late, it should end up in the dirt or wide in the other direction.

I knew when they added the perfect throw to home last year that they would expand it the next year. But it's really pretty trash.

Also the animations can make it feel like you have nearly no control of your players.

The game is in desperate need of a new engine overall though. It's the most dated looking major sports game out.

RTTS is such a bland and lifeless mode. Contracts make no sense and are useless.

I love the game but there are things that could be done to definitely make it better. Add more equipment especially cleats. The Nike Hurache lows are worn by most players including stars like Byron Buxton and Wilson Contreras and there not in the game. Bruce Bolt equipment is missing that I've noticed a lot of players wearing this year. Most importantly the announcer dialogue is awful. I'm in 2023 on my franchise and still hearing them give stats and discuss things like it is 2022.

IMO what the game needs first and foremost is improved player models and graphics. It is staggering the difference between player models in NBA 2K compared to The Show.

Some sort of dynamic team scouting system for your opponent in franchise mode.

As it stands I’m pretty much playing every opponent the same as I generally have no idea what their strengths and weaknesses are at both a team and player level.

E.g It’d be great if I knew if a team has a high strikeout rate/low BB rate at the start of the game. Do they steal often. Are they aggressive on the bases etc.

On a player level, does he swing at the first pitch often. How is he defensively. What pitches/areas should I avoid with this batter. What is the pitchers strikeout pitch. Etc.

Just something to help me approach each game differently, give me a heads up without having to trawl through numerous menus.

The only thing I’ve noticed is a mention of player tendencies when you press pause. That’s as shallow and as vague as it can get really!

I am mostly a Franchise players so here goes what I want, and I need.

Coaching: Retired players can become coaches.

Offseason menu: Have something kinda like NBA2k with the retired numbers, retirement you can reverse, New rules you can approuver.

Progression and regression is the worst in all the sports Games. The regression feels so random.

Players card: You should add Achievements section, with the MvPs, all-star sélections, etc

This may be a simple addition but for me who plays RTTS when I am customizing the player to look like me or what I want to look like, it is difficult using the left and right sticks.

On some things you can just right d pad or left d pad to the exact number.

It would be great if all adjustments could be made with the d pads. I spend so much time with the sticks trying to get an exact number.

It would be even better if once a player looks are made it could be saved and then on a new career just be able to load the saved look?

                              Season length...again, again, and again.

There's basically zero way for most normal people to play through the MLB season without simulating & I cannot stand doing it.

It cannot be that complicated to put it back in. It was already there....

A couple things I can think of off the top of head…

                                1) graphics(jersey physics, grass and dirt, chalk lines)umpires need a redesign, they look dated.

                                2) presentation(a Sunday night baseball type presentation for Sunday’s, ads(commercials after innings, maybe not every inning) ball girls, security guys on the field)
