I don't think it's the outdated cleat that makes them call people names, it's the lack of attention to detail. There's a million+ people playing this game. You don't think some people won't notice the lack of finer details? Are you allowed to be sloppy at your job? Most people on here complain of there's any errors on uniforms, why does equipment have to be treated differently?

Perhaps, but not today.
We're volunteers, we may not see some of these things in a timely manner sometimes, but any further straying from the terms of service and I'll hand out more vacations.
I'd suggest everyone get re-acquainted with the initial post before replying to anything that followed, in an effort to get back on topic. Thanks.Last edited by mestevo; 04-26-2023, 01:28 PM.Comment

Re: New Equipment in The Show 23
Im curious as to how you and bkrich feel about them NOT having the correct color blocking for any shoe, batting equipment, or batting glove, a lot of these being the same exact equipment from 4 years ago with the same issue.

Re: New Equipment in The Show 23
I don't want to take this off-topic, but honestly I don't care that much. I'd love to have 100% authentic equipment but for me it's a nice to have and not a necessity and has little impact on my enjoyment of the game. Uniforms matter more for me and even then I overlook some obvious errors I've seen in the past. For me gameplay is king and everything after that is secondary.
My last comment on that, as I don't want this to go off the rails again.
I think the issue some have with you and and a couple of the other gatekeepers is that when anyone says something less than positive or expresses frustration, you guys come in and essentially derail the topic by policing and essentially making sure that we know it is not a big deal and we need to just get over it.
Like this guy called the dev lazy. I agree it is kinda lazy to have an issue for years and never fix it but I can't even really say that is a devs responsibility as opposed to an art team or maybe they kinda just dont really care about that sort of thing or its last on their priority list. Either way, that comment would have just sat there and ppl would have moved on. But ya'll just come and bring so much attention to it, effectively throwing it off the rails, which you claim you dont want to do.Comment

Re: New Equipment in The Show 23
The thing that surprises me most about the equipment is the fact that we have the same or should I say lack of colors for equipment, I don't understand how I can get baby blue and baby pink for gloves but no other piece of equipment. The color pallet is so bare
And what happened to when Ramone said that with the ps5 there will be more space available for equipment more featureToronto Maple Leafs

New Equipment in The Show 23
IDK. I love editing equipment to be realistic as much as the next guy, and there are definitely some equipment items in game that aren't very close to the color blocking IRL, but I feel like it's kind of silly to be "baffled" that they don't allow every tiny little detail on equipment to be editable. There's always going to be limits
Have you edited shoes in 2K? Why do we pretend there are limits to these things when year in and year out we see NBA2K have every feature other devs say they can’t include? I never get that. I love The Show, and I’m not calling SDS lazy, but I don’t get why we keep saying this obviously false stuff. 2K is king when it comes to franchise, and customization, and honestly probably gameplay too. Every other dev team should aspire to reach their heights for their respective sport. But I really think that the people who staunchly defend Madden or The Show etc don’t play 2K. Because for me, playing 2K is like the pinnacle of sports gaming, and playing anything else feels like a massive downgrade. Which sucks because I don’t even like basketball that much. 2K let’s you edit home and away colors for your accessories. 2K let’s you edit every aspect of a shoe. I fully admit I am not a game developer, but I don’t think there is any reason something as simple as home and away accessory colors can’t be included in The Show.Last edited by GoDucks1224; 04-29-2023, 05:23 PM.Comment

These other developers are afraid to do that since they need to produce a game every year. It’s not as easy as adding in images for the equipment and then putting the color schemes in. They have to code and test it in each menu that it shows up, all of the stadiums, cutscenes, and a few other places.
Also if the equipment was the only issue with the game, it’d be much easier. But they have so many things they need to work on. A lot of sports titles would gain a lot from a year or two off so they can strip down the code and almost start over. There are things in The Show that are still from X360/PS3 days, but they would get a lot of criticism if they took a year off to fix everything/start over.Comment

You're comparing apples to oranges here. You're assuming something without knowing. Ever think that maybe the approval process between the equipment makers for NBA and MLB is drastically different with regards to getting that equipment into video games? I don't know that and neither do you. But that doesn't stop you and others from talking like you know it's as simple as "they do it on NBA 2K so that means they should be doing it on The Show" and that's just not a great look.
I wish the equipment editing on the show was better. I've been begging for years for us to have the ability to have separate equipment for home or road games and things of that nature but I don't come on here questioning the developers about it every year cause I truly don't know what limitations they're dealing with because I'm not a video game developer. I don't know what goes on behind the scenes and such. I wish franchise mode was overhauled to be better and a lot more like we had on MVP 2005. But I'm not gonna call out anyone for it not being like that cause I don't know what it would take to get something like that. I'm not an SDS fanboy or anything. But I do vastly enjoy this game.Atlanta Braves

Re: New Equipment in The Show 23
On the last gen of consoles, 2k got a lot of flack for their first game being bare bones (I believe it was 2k15). They didn’t have much but the graphics were upscaled and gameplay improved. They pretty much took a year off and then added all of those things, between customization and deeper online and offline modes.
These other developers are afraid to do that since they need to produce a game every year. It’s not as easy as adding in images for the equipment and then putting the color schemes in. Right. Very truthful. We also have to consider the size of the development teams and resources each studio has. Not all studios are created the same or have the same amount of resources. The SDS team is much smaller than the 2K team so they're not going to get as much done in a single cycle as the 2K team. They're also not at the luxury to take a year off in order to completely overhaul the game. I guess you could ask that maybe they work on two games at once? Have one that is the one they market on a yearly basis while on the side working on a completely overhauled game that would fully take advantage of the power of the new consoles. But I'm sure there's a lot of hurdles there too like a lack of man power and resources.Atlanta Braves

FYI in the past at least, colors for licensed equipment did have to go through the approval process at least in other games. Not sure if that’s the case here but this can be more complicated than it appears.
