dunno what they meant by roster tuningwith position players. could be giving more options perhaps??

nothing on BP logic though so probably be managing the cpu BP again.

and I couldn't find if it is the usual 93 man rosters I am guessing it is. because I flicked the video it was all about the draft class which looks good. but couldn't see a peak of a roster.

I will get the game not sure it is work a extra $45 to get it 5 days earlier though, that might just say my priorities in life is changed now though rather then excitement. or I am just getting older.

      Rosters are still 93 players

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise, MTO, Presentation and Commentary Feature Premiere Brea

          Start off with the good.

The new scouting looks really good. More fog of war is always great.

Some of the new presentation aspects look really good.

          And the rest...

The exterior stadium shots really don't look good and I may skip them not because I hate presentation, but because they look so poor in quality.

Not much needs to be said about the graphics. This game still looks like an early gen PS4 game. It's sad, but it's expected at this point.

The lack of roster expansion hurts the new scouting. Until we get expanded rosters, drafts are going to continue to be inflated with too high of potential players(that pan out 90+% of the time).

They said trade logic was touched, but they have said that for years now and it's still in a meh at best state. I know these logics are tough to tune at times, and the small roster size is going to influence the logic negatively, but for as much as they've tuned it over the years, and last year it was the "big" focus, I'll just say I won't hold my breath.

No talk about the lineup or bullpen logic makes me believe neither is really going to be different. That's killer. I'm not going to spend the time to control every team and set their lineups right and make their bullpens work in a more believable manner. More power to those that do take that time, but that's not me at this point.

All in all it was an okay stream. Franchise mode still isn't where I'd like to see it. We desperately need expanded rosters and we need them 5 years ago. Until we get lineup and bullpen logics fixed, I probably won't be playing franchise mode too much. It's a mode killer for me personally.

There was some good, some bad, some we'll wait and see. It's actually more than what I expected, which gives you an idea of where my expectations are at this point with the series, but until the CPU teams behave like real baseball teams that don't make their LR throw their arms off, it won't be enough to make me want to play The Show over Out of the Park. I'll use DD to get my fix for gameplay on the field and use OOTP as my franchise mode where CPU logic is actually believable.

I'm excited to try out this new scouting and draft system. Smart that it requires more scouting on high school players than college players to reach 100% scouted. I'm also happy that even if I scout someone to 100% that I might be disappointed with their overall once signing is completed, he could be solid but not a franchise changer like the guy the drafted for the Rangers. I know the draft isn't everyone's thing and they may have been disappointed by today's stream but I love the draft so I'm very intrigued.

This was surprisingly a good stream. Meaningful improvements were made. But my goodness, this really showed how much they need to improve the graphics. Still remember when this franchise used to be treated as a graphical benchmark for a new gen console. Anyways, as someone who felt burned by the RTTS stream, this was much needed. Solid updates that should be felt years into Franchise. Just hope they keep the foot on the gas for next year. My guess RTTS will get the attention over Franchise next year. They may also go a step further with WBC implementation into the modes. I'll put off the idea of SDS becoming like EA for another year. For now.

I've watched a lot of videos on a lot of games. I can't recall the last time I seen a video showing off a game, in which they blew this much smoke up their own ***.

Some takeaways from the presentation portion of the stream:
                    • The scorebug for Theme 1 is absolutely beautiful, even better than last year's.
                    • I really enjoyed what they were going for with the "regional" motif last year, and I'm glad they expanded upon it this year (I do slightly prefer last year's regional scorebug, though).
                    • It's baffling and disapointing that the MLB Network theme will be absent again. Considering MLB Network branding is still in RTTS, I doubt it's some kind of licencing issue. I always felt that the MLB Network theme was the only one that felt "right" to use with classic rosters, as if MLB Network was rebroadcasting a classic game.
                    • It's disapointing that all of the recorded names that were lost won't be back at launch, but it was nice to hear the team acknowledge that and state that their ultimate goal is to have every last name back.

                    NFL: San Francisco 49ers
                    NHL: San Jose Sharks
                    MLS: San Jose Earthquakes
                    EPL: Brentford FC

not too sure about the updated trade logic these are the trades that went through during the stream:

Padres traded Jake Crownenworth to the Phillies for Andrew Painted and Pedro Martinez

Brewers traded Brice Turang to the Diamondbacks for Chad Patrick and Geraldo Perdomo

Mariners traded Taylor Trammell to the Cubs for Adbert Alzolay, Sergio Alcantara, and Yohendrick Pinago

Reds traded Kevin Newman to the Pirates for Brennan Malone

Cubs traded Ian Happ to the Cardinals for Joshua Baez

Brewers traded Rowdy Telez to the Rays for Junior Caminero

If I’m understanding everything correctly, the top 150 prospects will be available to you without your scouts having to “discover” them. That’s a huge improvement on the current system where you get like 30.

On the flip side, I was really hoping for an expanded draft. Just looking at it purely from a video game stand point: Madden has 75 roster spots that you then have to cut down to 53 + your 10 (or however many it is) practice squad players and you get 7 draft picks, but the show has 93 roster slots and you don’t have to cut any of them, but you only get 6 rounds. I’m not saying I want 20 rounds of the draft, that wouldn’t work without vastly expanded rosters, but 10 seems like a good number to me. Even expanded it to 8 would make me happy.

Presentation looked like it improved on last year's big step forward which is awesome.

No commentary for me so that doesn't matter personally. I usually watch tv/listen to music when playing. Commentary in all sports games get too repetitive.

Franchise trade/lineup/bullpen logic will always be tough to gauge until we get our hands on it. Even still, with 30 team control I do not put too much emphasis on it (except bullpen because that affects gameplay).

Let's revisit how scouting/drafting worked for the last 10 years. You have 4 scouts, you tell them what/who to scout, they turn out a report involving potential and overalls. You draft that player based on the report and sign for the absolute minimum.

My biggest gripes with the draft system were the ages of prospects (22-24) and having to edit scouting strategies almost daily. By the time the draft came around I felt exhausted having to draft as many players as possible only to have 1/20th of all players actually scouted. Including some big names that ended up being drafted that I never saw and will never see again.

The new system takes away the daily grind of scouting which is a huge W in my book. Being able to set the scouting each week and forget about it will change how I approach franchise. I stepped away from full rebuilds because of how tedious the scouting was.

The new system will also give you the ability to truly dive into who you want to draft. I love that they have MLB and Team rankings you can use based on when you pick in the draft. That way you aren't aimlessly scouting as many players as possible and instead targeting players that may land in your range of picks and focus on finding diamonds in the rough.

I also liked how you continue to scout the prospects even after you drafted them while negotiating a contract. It brings them more to life instead of forgetting about them instantly after the draft until they show up on the roster in the offseason.

The ranges and getting away from the 20-80 scale is a good decision. Sure the 20-80 scale is more realistic, but it didn't translate well into this game's 0-99 scale.

The computer generated names and player models will still require some editing to make them look more realistic but hopefully one day we get custom draft classes.

This system is exactly the same as MTO's Free Agent system which I found quite fun last year and hope it makes it's way to Franchise soon.

I'm excited to dive into this and start rebuilding again

An even better option would be to make the Negro League’s basic theme available throughout the game.

Or the 80s and 90s scorebugs, which I assume are still in the game?
