Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise, MTO, Presentation and Commentary Feature Premiere Brea

Like all the presentation stuff and was encouraged to know my name will make it back in eventually.

Objectively, it makes sense to me that this was such a focused stream, franchise-wise, as everything they did for the mode messes with standing logic in the game and probably needed a ton of time and focus. The draft and related scouting and signing components look well fleshed-out, so no complaints there. So, maybe that can bode well for other things next year.

PERSONALLY, I think my problem is in the bigger picture is that it's been years of subpar or, at least, more "under-the-hood" franchise attention (relative to the rest of the game) and even removal of some useful features, so I guess I don't really feel like MY "next year" is coming...lol.

I guess I was hoping that the popularity of DD and the spread to new consoles would mean more resources for all the "core" modes. It appears t's being used differently, which is all good, just not for me, I guess.

Presentation is much the same thing for me. I really do like what they are doing with the in-game graphical overlays, etc. But, IMO, what's lacking more is front-end presentation in franchise. MLB.com (or fictional "Show") hub, twitter, local sports blogs...something.

So, all that said, it was a good stream...MUCH better than the RTTS one IMO, but I honestly never thought I'd go three years into next gen and not feel truly compelled to buy the game. I'll be sticking with 20 and hoping that these foundational things and the gameplay changes I very much enjoy in the tech demo lead to something more in my wheelhouse next year.

I want to be clear though, I still have MUCH respect for this team and their overall quality of work. I'm just not their target consumer anymore, and I get that. What they've added looks good. See ya'll again next year!

I absolutely love the regional presentations. I do with they could have came up with something other than “The Show Northwest” just doesn’t sound right to me.

Always June….that was an obvious mistake they made saying that.

I mean I preordered and I’ll play it. I’m just always going to stick in the “I want expansion and relocation options” camp. I love the 2k system of expansion drafts and rebranding and relocating. But I won’t tear it down for not having it either.

Also I want custom shareable draft classes so you can do a historical replay with the great old school rosters.

But it at least gave franchise players a way to use stubs.
They have had that the last few years. You can buy the sponsorships with stubs, and those increase your credit revenue and budget

Really hoping for expanded trades one day. Having a limit of 3 players per team prevents us from making some real life trades that happen. We also need 3-team trades in the future.

                  When you look at this

It just looks dead, as if this angle is from 5 hours before game time. Compare it to any of the 2k shots and it's not a comparison in terms of fans on the screen. The comparison gets worse when you start looking at the detail between the two and you see they are more similar than not, but we can at least maybe say the stream's quality makes it harder to see some of the detail in The Show's shots. Either way, it's a nice step forward, but not really executed well from what we've seen.

This view shows more life before the game compared to the in game shot

EDIT: I was able to upload a snip from the video. It's not even a fair comparison between the two, really.

maybe it is, but I can't imagine thats a shot of Yankee Stadium during the game.
I wonder if those Show exterior shots are going to be presented before first pitch or like those live shots from around the cities a few years ago, iirc like the 3rd and 7th inning

Yes but it will only get you roughly $10M. Buying budget with stubs would get you a lot more. That's my point.

You can manually manipulate any teams budget to turn a small market into a large market by editing minor league contracts. The only catch is you have to wait until year 2 to spend the money.

Scouting and the draft isn't perfect, but it's such a huge improvement from what it was.

Definitely getting this version simply because of that. I can't take anymore drafts full of 23-25 year olds.

Hopefully they'll continue to improve the draft class creation engine so the height/weights and skill distribution is better moving forward
