As a Marketing standpoint you have to talk about anything 'new' to sell the game to people, I have no issue with that.

They were not going to upgrade the new playoffs mid last year... it had to be added to this years game to help sell it more as a new thing added, it makes perfect sense to do that.. yeah they could have added in the new playoffs mid season or even in as late as September, but they needed that in for this year and better to use the resources for this years game.

This time last year we were thankful there would even be a season then worry about the new CBA rules being in the game.

They couldn’t add the new playoffs in via a patch last year due to amount of work and recoding required.

Doing so would’ve crashed existing franchises.

It had nothing to do with saving it for ‘23 as a selling point/marketing tool

true but they could have added it for the playoff only mode away from franchise in October as a special add on or something before the playoffs. Or even have it as a DLC thing. could have got more people to buy the game too and promoted it.

they really tried to say correcting the minor league affiliations was a feature. Adding in the playoffs to be correct like real life is a BIG TASK and passed off as a feature.

I agree with you that this should not be called a feature as if its in MLB it should be in the game. However if they did not say anything people would have been up in arms over it and worried it was not in

Its really simple we all have our wants and needs for a game. If it fills those spend the money. If it does not then ofc save the money and wait for the game to give you what you feel it needs to make it worth you spending $70

I play very little outside of baseball games so for me every year I buy this, the new OOTP, the new strat o matic baseball (For the league i run) and if they put a new super baseball out this year I will get.

Exactly!! They weren't going to add it in as a patch to franchise mode because it wouldn't have worked in existing franchises. way too much tuning to all the logic (like the AI trade logic which tbarnes alluded to on the stream) plus trying to deal with avoiding crashes with existing franchises. It would have been a ton of work and a ton of risk with public backlash with minimal payoff.

Adding new uniforms, audio, and face scans is a completely different task then adding an entirely new mode or completely changing a mode.

If you can't understand that, then your ignorance far exceeds any fact that could be presented to you.

Its funny you start by stating a made up fact that they could've added it to franchise mode, but wanted to save it until '23 to help sell the game. When presented a fact that disproves that "made up fact", you agree and then go about presenting another made up fact. This time, when the same fact refutes this second made up fact of yours, instead of accepting it, you make another ignorant made up fact because you're not going to admit that what you're claiming is false and go down with the ship that is your made up fact.

It wasn't possible to do the work that would be required and the issues it could present, to add the new playoff format in the game last year via patch or DLC. Period.

If you don't want to accept my answer, ask the devs yourself, which btw is where I got the answer that I provided to you.

Adding new playoffs isn't simply adjusting playoff format. They had to tweak the AI as well (as mentioned on stream) so that more teams recognize they are in a playoff race.

That's not something you throw in mid cycle of an annual game.

point taken about franchise I never thought of the AI, but still it was a selling point for 2023 you can't deny that. I was actually being positive that it is good marketing for them to add things into next years game. but cowboy just wants to get on my back about thinking I was shooting them down about greedy money.

but the post season playoff mode feature. didn't have to be part of franchise, I would be happy to pay a DLC for that. but what do my ideas and thoughts matter.

I've been saying this until I'm blue in the face and I'll continue until the cows come home:

MLB needs to unhandcuff Sony and let them do this tastefully, show a manager (or even players) animation where the mgr. comes running out of the dugout and up to the ump with a full head of steam, then cut to another camera angle where the manager and ump are then shown having what some might even term a polite conversation.

stay out too long and the ump can ring you up with an arm lift animation no different than a third call strike at the plate or a runner thrown out at first.

if you leave the conversation too early and go back to the dugout, the ump sees you're a pushover and close calls start to go against you until you correct that with an appropriate ''polite conversation'' length.

a well-timed conversation with the ump can give you the benefit of close calls going you're way.

I was a huge MVP baseball fan in the early 2000s. I believe they had the option to argue calls, if you argued and didn’t get ejected you could get more borderline pitches to go your way. If you got ejected you could no longer make bullpen or lineup moves for the rest of the game. It was then auto- handled by the CPU.

I swear didn't one of the early the show games do this?? like MLB the show 12?? and it was random I remember one game when Jeter got ejected which never would have happened in real life being so out of character for it to happen.

Maybe a rating of 'temperament' for players or coaches. the lower that rating is the more of a chance they will argue a call and could get ejected.

The Show did used to have it but it was a random cutscene not user controlled...I'd love if it was put back in.

High Heat used to have it to. I remember you could even argue as a position player while your team was in the field.

if my memory was right wasn't the problem there that it counted towards being a created player then as soon as you did that? I am not sure if that was the PS2 era.

I honestly couldn’t tell you Niner, it was too long ago for me lol. I think I’d still be fine with it though even if it counted as a created player. They would eventually retire and I assume you’d get that space back to do it again.
