Yeah, pinpoint it just too good imo, even with control/consistency at 0. I tried using it in 21 and to start 22. Finally switched part way through last year just because the pitching was too easy. I know pinpoint is a little tougher this year, but even at 0/0, I think it's probably still way more accurate than even default Classic.

I always resisted going to Classic because I didn't think it'd be as much fun. And I gotta be honest, I actually enjoy it a lot more. To the point where I even use it in DD when I'm going against the CPU (I still switch back to Pinpoint if I'm playing an Online game).

2/5 is what I'm at right now, but I'm not totally settled on that. But I'm happy for now. With consistency at 5, I still miss over and off the plate a lot, I feel like much lower and breaking pitches are too much of a crapshoot. And I'm averaging 3-4 walks per game (just had 7 in my last game).

The issue was the CPU timing since there were too many “too early” and “too late” swings. Last few games I played I was finally getting hurt on pitches where I missed my spots over the plate. They are more aggressive which forces me to pitch to the corners. I’m seeing more walks for me too because the CPU will finally hit it.

Thanks for the suggestions and pointing me in the right direction though.
Not sure if this will help others, but since I’ve made my slider changes to the below, I’ve had a lot less K’s (or at least felt I earned the ones I did get) and much more CPU hits and runs. It’s resolved my problem. Sliders are default and I play on Legend with pinpoint pitching, but I’ve only changed the below:

      CPU Contact = 10
      CPU Timing = 10
      CPU Solid Hits = 10

I’ve tweaked some of the CPU pitching stats for my own hitting purposes, but I left all others as default 5.

Small sample size but in 10 games before: 0.8 Runs, 3.8 Hits, 12.4 Ks
In the 15 games since I’ve made the slider change: 3.4 Runs, 8.4 Hits, 8.1 Ks

When I sim I use a different set of sliders to help with Franchise stats, but make sure to switch back to this for the games that I do play.

I may try this out, do you walk the Cpu?

Yes because I started pitching to the corners more since the CPU is more aggressive. I probably walk anywhere from 2-5 batters a game.

Also I find that my mistakes seem to get hit more. There still are some games where I K 10+, but since it doesn’t happen all the time I find it to be more realistic. Just seems to be more of a variety of results depending on how much I pitch to the corners and hit my spots.

This suggestion has solved my strikeout issues! The CPU is very challenging also on legend with contact and timing at 10 and I love it! I had a game recently where I only struck out 4, while having games where I strike out up to 10. It’s great [emoji106]

I manage mode there are far too many hit by pitches but I haven't filed a bug report because many times when they fix one thing they break something else and because they tend not to pay much attention to manage mode.

Also this year for the first time I see batters striking out on checked swings on pitches that hit them. Again - not realistic given the frequency but I haven't filed a bug report.

Glad you got it working for you. Using classic pitching there's no way I can do contact at 10 lol. Only way I will get outs is via strikeout.

                  Re: Too many strikeouts

Anyone going back to 22 because of this issue? Sliders all day low and away…legend difficulty cpu has no awareness. I have tried sim…I have tried comp…I have tried quick counts…normal counts. Shouldn’t be pitching like a HOF with a 70 overall.

This issue is with confidence…I rises way too easy. You have a good first 2 innings pitch then the game is unplayable after that. I had 9 k’s in a row with Josiah Gray of the Nats. SCEA needs to tweak this. No game sliders should be needed when the previous games have played great on default sliders.

I know we’ve talked about this before, but I do agree that they made pinpoint a little too easy on Legend compared to last year. And on classic or meter, I’m sure it’s worse.

I’m sure you’ve tried but curious if you tried the sliders I posted and if that helped at all with a tweak for contact to maybe 7 or 8. Hopefully it gets more difficult for you next year since it seems this year isn’t cutting it for you.

Bro, I've tried contact at all levels and every difficulty lol. Contact high enough to reduce Ks only creates so many hit or strikeout only games. So inevitably the Ks are still high. It's not a slider issue. Nothing can completely achieve simulation stats vs cpu hitting this year. I am hitting only and quick managing pitching and having fun. Making the best of it this year.

Try pinpoint, it’s a great match as the OP nature of pinpoint is great vs OP cpu. I’ve had them hit 16 on me in a single game while also holding them to only 3 in another.. it’s totally changed the game for me

Playing on default legend pitching, classic interface.

Just had a game versus the A’s. Allowed 1 hit and only struck out 6. Lots of balls in play that were actually outs. It definitely happens, maybe not quite as often as it should. But if you grind through, games like these will come through. Small sample, but through 11 games I’m averaging 7.5 Strikeouts per game(T-10th), 7.9 Hits Allowed per game and having a blast.

Hits lack solid contact…cpu do not lay off of sliders no matter the difficulty. This needs patched along with the redoing the whole pitcher confidence system. Put in 22 and played default HOF…you fear hitters in 22…in 23 even in legend no fear. Got rocked for 7 runs in 22 HOF…8 ks total between my pitchers. This was on HOF. What happen to 23. Sliders away in mlb the show 23 is basically a madden money play. Hope they fix it but in mid July so not likely.

I can't help but notice it how many strikeouts there are now, and it's frustrating to experience.

I'm still holding out hope they finally release a patch with some gameplay/balancing updates, but how do you have 14 patches and not address it at all.

What are y'all thoughts on this topic still?

I haven’t experienced too many strikeouts during my time with the game. I’m in my 5th season and strikeouts have never been inflated in any season. I’ve averaged around 8/9 strikeouts per game.

I’m playing default legend with meter pitching and no quick counts.

I’m 31 games into my current season and have 256 strikeouts which averages out to 8.25 per game.
