Re: Too many strikeouts
I’m not getting this at all. Strikeouts are true to real-life for me. Sometimes there’s a bunch, sometimes there isn’t. It averages out correctly though, which is what you want to game to be surely?
If you’re getting too many strikeouts, isn’t that a sign you’re on too easy a difficulty?
Increase CPU contact too.
IMO the previous versions had to few strikeouts compared to real life, 23 is a breath of fresh air.Comment

You say it was too difficult to get a strikeout in years past. I say the challenge was perfect, and having to work for one made them feel really good. This year, I don't have to think when pitching, and I get at minimum 10Ks. If I actually try hard to set up hitters, it's easy 13-15+. I usually just get so bored I stop trying, so I end up with 10 or 11.
I am hitting only the rest of the year, and I'm gonna live with that. Pitching is broken this year for those who apparently are somehow out of this world good at pitching to the cpu all of a sudden in 2023. Yes I am pissed off at SDS for this. I'm never one to throw shade at them cause their game is still the best sports title out there. But I can't hold back on this one. They absolutely broke cpu hitting with the amount of strikeouts. Tried everything possible to fix it, and there's just no way to.
I envy those who don't have this problem. I'm truly happy and glad for you all and hope you enjoy this season immensely!

I hear ya. Long time player and I was really, REALLY, struggling and frustrated as all hell about the gameplay. I FINALLY….dang FINALLY found a comfort zone. My last 10 games Ks against the CPU.
5, 5, 5, 10, 8, 9, 5, 5, 6, 10
Very reasonable. I’ve never been a slider hunter….ever, but had to this year. I think your complaint and frustration are reasonable.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
I think it just comes down to how well you pitch or something. Classic pitching, control, and consistency both at 2. I tried legend with cpu contact at 6 and timing at 9. Strikeouts of 11, 14, 11, and 11. They got hits, of course, but most outs are via strikeout. Very boring gameplay.

I do have varying results. Some high K games and some low K games.
I doubt it has anything to do with how skilled we are at classic pitching. I've been a classic pitching veteran since for 15 plus years. Before I found a sweet spot this year I was literally throwing fastballs down the middle over and over and still getting 3 pitch K's. It was very frustrating.
Hoping you find your sweet spot soon.

Re: Too many strikeouts
I'm a month in and play as the Brewers and the top 3 MLB K leaders are all Brewers (Burnes, Peralta and Woodruff). Brewers starters Miley and Lauer also in top 20. Legend meter pitching.
Peralta fanned 15 in a game last night.
So I'm in the crowd that thinks they did something this version and there are too many K's. I didn't have this happen in prior versions.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
Cool thanks for letting me know!
I shared my stats to give everyone discussing the topic a full rundown of my stats and experience.
Maybe someone who is using a different pitching mechanism than meter might try it to see if it changes their experience, or they may try a higher difficulty level, or who knows may ask me questions about my experience.
My post wasn’t intended to prove or disprove experiences nor persuade opinions.
Just thought I’d share my experience and stats after a decent sample size.

Re: Too many strikeouts
Tried raising my control and consistency up to 6/6 and then 10 for the heck of it cause why not try anything at this point lol.
6 games. Strikeout totals were:
12, 11, 11, 10, 12, and 12. Striking out one every 3.3 AB still.
I know it's the game cause I am able to power up MLB 21 or 22, pitch same style I do and have forever. And strikeouts are not easy to get. I really have to work for one those games. This year I don't even have to think when I pitch. Just go through the motions, and it's just boring.
Those last two games I had 8ks starting the 8th inning. I locked in and actually forced myself to try to get strikeouts. Finished with 12 strikeouts both games. So I know if I fully lock in and try an entire game it's 13-15 with ease. 15 strikeouts takes work, but last year 10 strikeouts took the same amount of work to achieve. It is what it is, guys. Nothing can fix it. I'm convinced.
Earlier in the year I struck out 19 with the Orioles vs the Angels. That is now my all time high ever in this game. That's kinda when I knew something was wrong and different with MLB 23. Orioles pitching? Versus Angels lineup? 19 strikeouts? Nahhh ain't no way lol

Re: Too many strikeouts
DarthRambo,
Not sure what the fix is for you, but a lot of vet Show gamers see that something is just off. I went back and played ‘20 (I only have 23 and 20 installed now) and geez…what a difference. I guess what I’m saying is we shouldn’t have to jump thru hoops (of head scratching and frustration) to reach that “happy” point, if you will. PM me and I’ll give you my settings. I’ll try to help.Comment
