I thought about this as well so I tried it. I actually like it more than I thought I would. Average is my favorite personally. I don't even like the personalized umps anymore. These same umpires have just grown old on me I think. A couple need to retire and we need some fresh meat.

Those things there isn't a slider to fix it. That's purely what SDS wanted to have more of I guess this year.

I've upped contact to 9 and timing back to 5 and it's a lot better now, but the backward Ks just hurt them badly. Like at least foul off some of those instead of looking lol. And I am on AS pitching with 0 control and 2 consistency slider using classic pitching as always if that matters. It's extremely rare I see less than 10Ks vs the cpu this year.

I’ve noticed this as well. CPU will swing at absolute junk every time, and the. Just watch a meat ball go right by.

Classic pitching, completely clean screen, perfect calls for umps. Avg. strikeouts per team in MLB is 8.6.

First game on Legend with Metered pitching. Blake Snell was my starter. 9 total strikeouts against the Braves. Also walked 2 and gave up a 440 foot bomb to Matt Olson.

              Re: Too many strikeouts

After some thought about this, I'm not really frustrated about the amount of Ks. The thing that really bothers me is never having to work hard for a strikeout this year. If I had to work for 15-19ks I would be ecstatic to achieve such a feat. Getting 17 and 19 strikeouts in a game just doesn't feel like an accomplishment at all. It's very boring and almost expected to get at least 12.

Even if we got them to be a consistent realistic amount, which I personally do not think is possible without some sort of patch; never having to really work for them just really makes it no fun. Pitching in this game has always been my favorite part cause of the sense of joy I felt when I got a clutch strikeout or even double play ball. That feeling is completely missing in 2023 right now for me.

Last year I remember being genuinely pumped up when I got a K with Edwin Diaz to close out a game. Like it was not easy, even with him. The cpu put up some quality ABs more times than not. This year, it's just like wow I struck out the side. No big deal cause I felt no pressure or much resistance from the batters that half inning.

But last year the cpu couldn’t hit, you could work harder for strikeouts yes, but they would rarely hit the ball hard or be much of a threat IMO. This year it feels like if u hang pitches they will rightfully punish you

We got them to hit with our sliders last year just fine though. It's the same this year. They are no threat until you raise cpu hitting sliders. Same as 2020 and 2021 for me. 2021 was a nightmare and it took forever to get them to be competitive. I can't remember 2019 lol

I finally finished a game with only 7 strikeouts just now lol. It only took cpu contact 10 and timing 10 with my control and consistency at 1/2. But I'll take it! They got 11 hits on top of it with two doubles, no homeruns. A win in my book. Finally have something I can work with lol. I know 8/10 was still a ton of Ks so I'm getting close to something that works. Game before that using contact at 10 with timing 5 I had 10k in 4.2ip with Dustin May with no effort required.

Just played a franchise game Pads vs. Brewers. I used Legend Pitching with CPU Contact and Power both at 6 using Pulse Pitching.

Seth Lugo was my starter. Ended the game with 9 total strikeouts and gave up a home run, and few a doubles and 7 runs total. I'm thinking this is the way I'm going to go for the next several games to see what results look like. I'll update this thread as I go.

I’ve found HOF pitching with computer contact and timing at 6 and human pitcher control at 4 to be working out really well for me. Had 9 strike outs with Rodon, 5 with Cole, 5 with Severino, and 6 with Nestor. Seems like an amount I’m comfortable with, and I’m getting realistic offensive results from the CPU.

Which isn't that far off from what I'm testing with. Not only am I looking for somewhat toned down strikeouts but a CPU that can mount a threat. So far I've gotten that with my current setup.

After you get some more games in let us know how it's going.

I’m nearing the end of spring training… two games to go. So I’ve played 24 games and I have three pitchers leading the league in strikeouts but not by a wide margin. I think the highest cpu pitcher has 29 K’s and my three pitchers have 33,31, and 30. I think it’s Verlander, Sherzer, and Carrasco.

Since the patch I think chase rates for the cpu have been adjusted. They appear far more disciplined than before the patch. Also, I can't prove this but swear there are less check swings being checked by the base umps. I loved the game out of the box with some up ticks for cpu power and hard hits. After a few more games. I may adjust the contact down or something along those lines.
