Re: Has something changed in hitting?
His first reply was "Something definitely has changed". You replied with the more likely explanation that the game just simulates the ups and downs of baseball well. Obviously there could be a conflict between those two ideas, so some extreme hypothetical gets brought up to change the topic. I think that's it.

benny, I know you said it's tough but just play the game for now and see if it evens out for you. If it doesn't then look into tweaking sliders, etc. But give the game a chance to naturally rebound first.
So, I went back in and had a much better experience. Ended up winning (dramatically) 7-4 with 11 hits. 1 solo hr and some good hit variety.
Actually hit the ball through infield for some rbi singles too.
Even if I hadnt come back in 9th I still would have had a good time playing.
Thanks for all your input everyone!Comment

Re: Has something changed in hitting?
Ok last 6 games post patch no changes to settings (default Legend with zone hitting and meter pitching)
L - Marlins 12-1 (3 hits)
L - White Sox 5-0 (8 hits)
W - White Sox 7-5 (12 hits)
W - White Sox 4-3 (8 hits - 10 innings)
W - AL 3-2 (6 hits) Futures Game
W - AA All Star Game 13-7 (14 hits)
Same experience as to what I had prior to the recent patch, and the same experience I've had since early release launch day.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Has something changed in hitting?
Playing default all star. Classic/directional.
I have played only 5 games since the patch but everything feels the same to me.
There are multiple variables that can go into this. Settings, sliders, and user input amongst others.
I am sure that there are people that are experiencing a difference. There are also people that are not experiencing it. I am in the latter group. It is the same sort of discussion every patch. And that's not a problem. It's just what it is. It's also very subjective and that makes it difficult.
My first step in situations like this if I am feeling the game plays different is to step away for a few days and then return. I usually have a different perspective then as I tend to start trying to force things if I feel a slump coming on.
Not dismissing anyone's thoughts on this. Just saying that a day or two away can refresh your take and fix things.Funkycorm

Re: Has something changed in hitting?
In all seriousness…..in all my experience playing this series….The Show is the best sports game at capturing the ups and downs “The Grind” of what it’s like to play 162 games of baseball.
Now I can only speak for myself….I will go into hit streaks and cold streaks and quite frankly that’s the part of the game I embrace the most. They (SDS) capture that quite well.
So embrace “The Grind” and play through whatever you may think has changed. Because quite frankly I am quite sure nothing has changed.
That’s baseball.
And every single cycle without fail we get a “I can’t hit anymore” type
Of thread.
And hey maybe something slightly changed….who knows. But 99/100 times if you stick with it it goes the other way. Again…..that’s baseball.
SDS also from all my experience does not make changes to core gameplay elements via patch and not say it in the notes. That’s not how they have ever rolled.
And as many have already pointed out….there are so many factors that come into play.
I say keep playing…..the reversion to the mean typically always happens if you embrace “The Grind”.
