    Is this new?

When you make a CAP, there is a randomize option. I’ve seen that in RTTS but not in the CAP for a roster.

That is pretty great if you ask me. I’m now considering making a full fictional roster [emoji848]

Re: MLB The Show 24 impressions thread

Sorry if it’s been mentioned, I didn’t read all the post. But only done the showcase and the first series in rtts and I really like the quick time stuff for tough plays. Also haven’t seen any bunting with the bases loaded or the 4 hole hitter bunting with 2 strikes and/or 2 outs. Haven’t seen any bunts at all in fact. Was always an issue that killed immersion for me and somehow seemed even worse last year than previous years. Otherwise things don’t seem that much different for the mode but it does seem better. I’m definitely engaged which I never was last year. Going to play another series now instead of hoping into another spring training game as I had planned.

Re: MLB The Show 24 impressions thread

I have been playing non-stop since midnight. Thru 7 games of Spring Training I can say that I'm glad that I abandoned my '23 franchise and made the jump to '24. There are so many little changes that make a big impact overall on the game such as the fielder urgency at the wall, the presentation changes, the information pop ups on the scorebug (prospect ranking overall and within organization), and the changes to franchise mode that weren't mentioned in the feature premiere. (They now list the Top 20 Prospects for each Organization)

The game is as solid as ever on the field and that is what matters most, and presentation wise it has changed enough to be fresh. Franchise got some updates that help the immersion and provide information that you can review outside of on the field pop-ups.

Its going to be a good year on the virtual diamond this upcoming season.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Had to change some sliders but overall I like it. The menu just screams GTA Vice City Miami in the 1980s. Anyway the sliders for me was the CPU was hitting way too good. They were getting doubles and HRs, me, it was pop up city or a fly out. It was like my hits were carrying like balloons. Graphically it looks a tad bit better, more so the hair textures. I personally don't think this game will ever make a giant leap graphically until they abandon the PS4 version.

The sound track is kind of a odd for a baseball game. Like it is a lot of R&B songs.

CAPS look WAY better this year. Which is needed because they skimped out on face scans again. There was a time where it felt like all players who debuted the year prior had scanned faces the next year in game. Seems to not be the case anymore

The World Series rangers have like 7 ppl from their Championship roster who dont face face scans.

Re: MLB The Show 24 impressions thread

Some thoughts on presentation after a few hours of play.

                  POSITIVES:

                  - The game looks great, for the most part. There’s some things that could use work like the grass, dirt, some stadium details and some of the city backdrops but I still think it’s a gorgeous game and the new player models and hair physics are an excellent addition.

                  - The crowd sounds amazing. They react much better to specific situations and I love all the new chants and chatter.

                  - There’s a lot more player emotion. Walk off wins feel more impactful and even seeing players get hit by a pitch, there’s much more of a reaction there.

                  - All of the new stadium sounds are great, like the Yankee Stadium siren etc.

                  - The scorebug and overlays are pretty slick

                  - The overall presentation of the Jeter storylines mode is incredible. They really did an amazing job with it. I’ve not tried the Negro Leagues S2 yet.

                  NEGATIVES:

                  - The commentary between Boog and Chris Singleton is still lacking. I’m already hearing loads of the same lines and stories from 23 and I’ve not really heard much new stuff from them. Maybe I need to just play more, but there’s still lots of dead air as well. Boog does get more pumped up and excited when things like a walk-off home run happen, but Singleton always just sounds totally deadpan and it kinda ruins the moment a bit.

                  - The broadcast presentation is really lacking things like sideline reporting and maybe talking about other games going on around the league, what’s coming up next for specific teams etc. These small things would really go a long way to making it feel more like a tv broadcast.

                  - I still really hate how the camera/presentation will just quick cut or fade to the next batter at the plate, or skip over player walk ups etc completely - even when it’s on full broadcast mode. In a game earlier, Juan Soto got hit by a pitch and it didn’t really linger on the moment at all. Just faded to the next batter at the plate and Soto was on base. I really wish it would let these things play out. Even between pitches, it often just quick cuts to the pitcher with the ball again ready for the next one.

                  ————-

Overall I’m really enjoying it. I can’t wait to discover more.

Hit a deep fly to CF that was caught at the wall. The crowd swell was definitely an upgrade over 23.

It looks like they removed the radio show during Franchise. That's too bad as I enjoyed it, even though I was hoping they would improve it.

I guess since the ticker has so much information, they didn't need it anymore.

Regardless, I'm really enjoying the game so far.

played briefly last night, first impressions are not good.

                          1. Menus are super slow and clunky
                          2. Online was not working
                          3. Barely any new equipment added, only new things i can recall are the Bruce Bolt Items.
                          4. Same colors available to choose when editing gear and the same issues that plague the series are still there such as primary and secondary colors being reversed and logos not changing color despite changing the colors.

                          5. The laziness of the art dev team are still there as the Padres are now in year 4 of wearing brown and yellow and the entire crowd is still in blue and white and the old gear.

                          6. Game play is nearly identical.
                          7. Pinpoint pitching does have some new motions but still very easy to hit.
                          8. Pitching is still very easy, played 1 game on default Hall of Fame setting. Allowed 0 runs and struck out 14.

                          9. Same old commentary lines. Still asking Boog if he can draw a walk.

Will dive more into it tonight, i only played 1 exhibition game and browsed menus as i had to go into work today and didn't stay up all night playing.

Gonna play some more later, some very early thoughts after a couple innings and browsing the menus and such.

                            * First Day 1 purchase for me since 2016 when I was still in college. Jeez. That alone is enough to hurt. Didn’t play 23, played 22 after getting it cheap on PS4. First time on next-gen (Series S).

                            * Didn’t like the opening intro, rolled my eyes. Good thing it, like so many intros, are skippable.

                            * Really miss Sounds of the Show, good thing for Spotify and my Alexa.

                            * Menus give off almost like a Miami/Vice City vibe. Very colorful. Trust me I’m not missing the menus from MLB 14!

                            * Player models look good, I did expect a bit more on the hair front. Some of the beards still look weird. Haven’t messed around with player creator yet so don’t know how it’ll look on CAPs. Also don’t know if there’s a patch coming early next week. When I say weird, I mean they still look like they’re from PS4, when I got the sense from recent news that they were really upsclaing hair this year. So did certain guys (Vladdy) get priority and it’s gonna be a full rollout in 2025?

                            * My first show was 07 on PS2, which I bring up for three reasons. 1: the game’s evolution over time graphically. 2: how much better parts of the game feel compared to those early iterations despite likely featuring a lot of the same code and 3: Rich Hill is in both games 🤣

                            * it’s so weird having so many highly-rated free agents on the base roster from an overall standpoint. Snell is a 91, I think Matt Chapman was an 82. Not sure how many times the game has launched with a 90 OVR+ free agent. Did 19 launch with Harper as a FA?

Gonna dip my toe into franchise later, thinking of a fantasy draft with some of the new simulation tools. I’m almost exclusively a franchise player so I won’t have many if any thoughts on RTTS or DD.
Patiently waiting for a New York Jets title.Wish me luck.

Menus are snappy fast for me. It actually reminded of what life was like back in the cartridge days. It's one of the first things I noticed. If you want to see slow menus, log into NHL 23 HUT and try doing stuff...

Someone asked about any issues with high CPU strikouts or punchless CPU offense, similar to issues last year in '23.....

I played one franchise game, Marlins vs Pirates. Won the game 7-6. CPU offense was good. My bullpen almost blew the game. Pirates stuck out 8 times in the game and had 11 hits.

It's only one game but a good start.

This is on HOF pitching and hitting with zero slider adjustments.
