Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
Underwhelmed is an understatement wow that looks…exactly like any other edition from the last few years.
Improved field/textures is definitely not happening again this year. Still looking at brown tarmac with some breadcrumbs that now actually look like sunflower seeds, or did he rip his Fanatics pants [emoji1787]
Looking at the uniforms I think there’s nothing new to expect there either.
We’ll wait and see when we see the game in motion when the trailer drops but yikes this ain’t it."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
There was one exception I can remember (ages ago, possibly 2008-2009) where they "unlocked" a certain lighting aspect pretty close to release. Other than that, I can't recall any other surprises late in the cycle which makes sense. If they made huge improvements, it would be a strange move not to show it off.
I hope I'm wrong when the trailer drops this week, but I'm pretty certain I won't be.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
Just curious. Who is going to put out a game that can even match The Show? Was it RBI baseball that recently failed miserably? I’m not sure there will ever be competition and the growing pains for a new game would have to be time consuming.
As far as the graphics. I’m fine with them. Can they weak them….sure. For me it’s also about animations, etc. I’m looking forward to the trailer.Comment

One thing I will say is that if another baseball game was released, it wouldn't necessarily have to be better than The Show in every aspect. If a competitor came out with a franchise mode as in depth as 2k, I'd support it monetarily even if there was a slight step backwards in other modes. This would be with the hope that they will catch up in other areas.
I still play The Show every single year, but it deserves its criticism just like all other games do.Comment

You're right that any new baseball game coming out will most likely go through growing pains.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
And yes ok these screenshots are from early builds but I would think the new out of town scoreboard in right field for Citizens Bank Park would have made it in.
But does not look like it going by that screenshot with Bryson Stott.
I have a "STRONG" feeling the graphics team have been putting like 90% of their time working on the "Current Gen" PS5 version of the game for the last few years now. Which is why MLB The Show still looks like a PS4/PS3 game. And as some here have said until they drop support for the Switch Gen 1 version like they finally have for the PS4 version the game will continue too basically look the same.
I guess the good news is the Switch gen 2 comes out later this year which from what I hear may be on par with PS5 or very close too it. So perhaps MLB The Show 26 will be the true "current Gen' version with a major face lift????
Anyway I am sure most of you here have seen what is capable on the PS5 thanks to that other baseball game from Japan. Just a few things that game does better is infield dirt, Player models, Sky/Clouds and Home Run Camera's just to name a few things.
When MLB The Show's graphics catches up to that game then I will be a happy camper again.
And I really don't mean to complain but I am not getting any younger and I really would like to see what MLB The Show looks like when using most of the PS5 power before I am too old to play this wonderful game any longer.
