Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
I do agree about the field and uniforms. The players, stadium lighting, and general lighting are definitely better though. But since the whole package isn’t at the same graphics level, it does make it look not so great overall.
CX was a solid TV too. They did do some upgrades for the C2 and C3 that help with the overall gaming since 4K HDR for XBox are slightly better as well as input lag improvements.. But for a TV that is a few years old, the CX was one of the better ones for gaming systems.
I agree that the daytime lighting has always been very nice in the show, but man the lighting at night needs to be overhauled it’s not very good at all. And it’s about time they bring ray tracing into the game, all AAA games are implementing it now and other sports games like madden have already had it since the beginning of this generation.Comment

So I don't think anyone is arguing that the graphics aren't "fine". But I pose a question to you since the graphics have pretty much frozen in place
How much longer are you okay with the same graphics? The same field and uniform textures? The same pseudo 2d stadium assets in places? Since they are "fine" and aren't going to get worse, is your implication that they never need to upgrade them since they are perfectly "fine"?
So if graphics and offline have been stale for years, what are they doing with their time and our money?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
I hear ya. Just feels like we should be able to get a significant graphical leap every console generation at least. That's every 6 or 7 years. Seems doable from a AAA company selling a yearly game for $70.Comment

The best example of that is the Forza games. The graphical difference from Forza 1 to Forza 2/3/4 was huge. The jump from Forza 4 to 5 was pretty impressive, but nowhere near as big as from 1 to 2. 6 and 7 improved on 5, but the move from 7 to Forza Motorsport (the last release) wasn’t as drastic from a graphics perspective. Everything new was all about the driving physics/options and some of the depth of the game. There was some improvements in lighting, but it doesn’t look that much better than 7.
Even Madden, EAFC, NHL, and 2k don’t have the drastic changes in graphics since the PS4/XB1 days outside of lighting updates and raytracing. This isn’t to say SDS can’t have better player models and improvements to the field/surroundings (which are both the biggest needs IMO). But we’re not going to get huge graphical jumps anymore as we move to new consoles just because there isn’t as much room to improve there like there was when we went from 16 bit to 32/64 bit.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
SDS does not have an exclusive license for MLB. 2k had the exclusive license when Madden got the exclusive NFL license in 2006, but they stopped making baseball games. SDS got away with making games during that time because they were a console exclusive. Once 2k got out of making baseball games, they were able to make for the other consoles, which MLB pushed because nobody else was making games for them anymore. But they do not have an exclusive license.Comment

Would you buy a prettier car that breaks down a lot of an average looking car that doesn't break down.≡Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
I see this a lot where you’re only allowed either or, better graphics or better gameplay. You as a consumer should expect both. As far as car analogies go I’d be pretty pissed if Toyota kept rolling out the same model car for 10 years with minimal upgrades but the same body style year in and year out

Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
I'm more interested in franchise and gameplay. 24 looked amazing on my huge fancy frigging expensive TV, and I'm sure 25 will be an upgrade. That doesn't mean I wouldn't welcome hugely upgraded graphics.....
I'm ready for my early access.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots
They are a step closer as Konami has an MLB license which they are using for a phone "app" MLB game which is available and is similar in design to the Japanese game.
