Re: MLB The Show 25 Screenshots

What a surprise! The Show looks pretty much the same as it did last year! There was a thread going around here a while ago about how The Show needs a bit of a 'boost' or changes and needs some life injected into it. I caught some flack for saying it's boring, needs big changes and that the graphics looked the same for roughly a decade.

It's just so meh. Everything looks meh. I'm also guessing the game will play meh and all of the usual issues with logic, trades etc will be meh. It's just not exciting anymore and there's been no real changes. The presentation, players and basically everything just seem like a very linearly scripted, poorly rendered baseball program. It's not organic and more on topic - graphically it's not good.

    Next year, though!

This is funny. I respect it! I just wish The Show still stoked my fire like it used to. I miss being stoked and playing it for hours on end.

100% PYS is so far ahead of scea is silly. A lot of people on this forum would love PYS if they put some effort in learning the basic translations.

As someone who has played both, it’s not that far ahead. The game definitely looks better, but the Show is deeper in terms of modes and the gameplay is just slightly better. That isn’t to say Konami couldn’t make a solid MLB game, but people saw the screenshots and videos of the new PYS and everyone is overreacting to how much better the game is than to MLBTS. Especially when it’s 12 teams vs 90+ teams.

As stated by someone else, the hope would be if they do make an MLB game, it wouldn’t turn into what Konami did with the PES series since they totally ruined it a few years ago and it hasn’t been back since.

            Well said.

I own PYS myself and the one gameplay hump I've never been able to get over with it in '24 or any other version I've played is the inability to work counts. Not to say that you can't ever walk (the CPU is plenty capable of throwing 4 out of the zone in an AB), but because of the lack of foul balls due to how their hitting system works it's nearly impossible to foul off borderline pitches to extend the at-bat and eventually find a hitter-favorable outcome. Super Mega actually does better in that department, and that's not an exaggeration. But no baseball game does it better than the Show.

I'm not one to judge graphics because I can't take my monitor any higher than 1440p. Plus gameplay will always come first in my book.

For me, its just that Japanese League baseball doesn't have enough teams and players. And doesn't have the teams and players I'm interested in. Not just MLB but I need MiLB too. When Konami gets on board with making a major league baseball game, I'll be first on that board.

But it is just a small team making the game and they dont have the budget or manpower lol Or what did someone say earlier about MLBTS , "the gameplay is fine". Which means it doesn't need to be touched, I guess.

The gameplay is really good, probably the best out of any baseball game out there. That doesn’t mean it can’t be improved.

Also most people’s issue with The Show have nothing to do with gameplay and everything to do with all of the off field stuff. Which is why it’s probably more frustrating for people since usually games try to get the gameplay right and then work on the other things. Gameplay has been solid for a few years now but the other legacy things still haven’t been fixed (lineup/bullpen management for example).

Yea , I was almost more frustrated that last year they said, "gameplay is in a good place so we didn't touch it". Makes sense but I'd hope that would mean major things elsewhere if you didn't have to spend any resources in a dev cycle on something as big as gameplay.

The game needs a fresh coat of paint. There’s no denying that. But to say it plays “meh” I’m not sure what you’re expecting in that department. It plays better than just about any sports game out there.

These did absolutely nothing to spark my excitement about this game.
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

Not sure what those yelling for better graphics want to see?

I'll say it once, and I'll say it again...rather have a deeper franchise, more depth to RTTS and gameplay improvements. I'd rather be spoiled with that.

I was expecting cyborgs and glass over the spectator seats so that the ball bounces back to the playing field myself - Super Baseball 2020 told me so!
