Re: MLB The Show 25 Deep Dive Franchise Front Office Experience

A couple thoughts. Bullpen logic fixed? Hopefully addressed on Thursday. I am left to only assume that it has not been ""fixed" considering the league new showed two CG on the same calendar day.

The play storylines inside every franchise game is interesting and might be a fun way to play through a season.

So if we select for example the storyline of so and so is looking to extend his hitting streak to 10 games. Do we player lock hitting only with that player? I'm assuming so. That's a cool way to get through a season with so many storyline options to choose from each game. I do hope we can select more than one storyline to play within one game. The screenshot says "Select Storyline" so I assume that means we can select more than one, and selecting them all would be the same as playing every pitch.

Hopefully those questions are answered Thursday.
Which btw, what time and where to watch the Thursday stream?

Bullpen Logic and roster AI is probably not fixed. I say that because it’s clear the focus the last two years was to re-work the base of the mode in terms of roster building (draft last year, contracts/FA/trading this year). Now that the base is set, I’d expect roster management/bullpen to get addressed next year as the next step in the progression of getting this mode into the 2020s.

Unfortunately I agree lol. Bullpen usage, and setting the lineups better are probably very difficult to fix and maybe rebuilding the foundation of franchise mode is needed first before the possibility of those things could be fixed. It is what it is and no game breaking deal.

It seems like you really should only be controlling one team to enjoy these new features as intended.

That being said,I typically am used to 30 team control only to make up for bullpen logic and lineups etc.So I hope some of these cpu management issues are at least improved.

I don't think the storylines stuff is going to be that deep. I don't think it will lead to player lock or anything like that. IMO if you select one then maybe it'll just tell you a littlebit about it, or they'll have more commentary about it during the game or something. I don't think it's going to change anything as far as how the games are played.

Glad the mode received some attention. Some of what they showed in the trailer was still a bit worrying from a logic standpoint. Overall, not enough is changing with the mode to earn me back as a customer still. It's still too obvious that franchise mode is not their top priority so their views and mine simply don't align.

Franchise will likely never be their top priority again as it's not the most played mode. Younger gamers have went in a totally different direction than us old dudes. If you're holding out for franchise to be the main mode, you'll be missing out on some great games. These are some great additions IMO.

I'd like your feedback on a couple things I saw.

A free agent will be less interested if there is another good player at his position and the picture was Mooke Betts. In my Midwest Farmers franchise the Dodgers have Mookie Betts and they have him playing CF which is a secondary position. What would happen IRL if the Dodgers were negotiating with a SS free agent is the Dodgers would tell the free agent Betts will play CF and the free agent will play SS. IMO this is a very poorly thought out and completely unrealistic addition to the game.

Another is the list of things your team is looking for. Left handed batter, right handed batter, on base machine, contact, power, speed, left handed pitcher, right handed pitcher, defense, finesse pitcher, power pitcher, groundball pitcher. You pick 2 from that list. That is as unrealistic as the other one. A GM only is interested in 2 from that list?

Then there is pitcher stamina which has been an ongoing problem. The SP player card showed -1 stamina regression. Stamina rarely increases. It almost always decreases and eventually multiple years into a franchise the league is populated with 3 or 4 inning starting pitchers for those of us who play the games. Apparently in the sim community things are fine so the game is fine in future years as long as you sim and don't play the games. Apparently no change to that.

I'll reserve judgment until I see the full franchise video but with no y2y saves they will have to give me a reason to throw away my franchise and this video didn't give me that reason.

You are a long time member here. I'd like your feedback. Am I wrong?

I’m curious about free agency when signing minor leaguers. Will we have to go through this new negotiation even for some random 50 something overall player as well? Or will this be restricted for just the major league quality players.
                            Guess we’ll find out soon.

Yes but what about the Sim Stats?

I was having a great time in '24. The game played great out of the box on Legend for me. I play all my games and the stats I was getting were representative of today's game. I was thrilled.

However, the sim stats of the rest of the league were that of an MLB 15 to 20 years prior, e.g., I was leading the league in SOs while in real life, those numbers would have been mediocre. Someone here at OS told me that had been an on going problem. I was very disappointed and abandoned my Franchise.

So, I'm hoping for that to be addressed. I like all this new stuff they're adding, but I'm not playing Franchise in 2 different eras of a league.
