Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion
Blue Jays LF Anthony Santander joins elite club
Anthony Santander leads the Majors in homeruns with 20 as we reach Cinco de Mayo. What's striking is he has hit a homerun in seven consecutive games, joining only six others who have done this.
Those six players? Mike Trout, Angels 2022. Joey Votto, Reds 2021. Kendrys Morales, Blue Jays 2018. Kevin Mench, Rangers 2006. Barry Bonds, Giants 2004. Jim Thome, Indians 2002. The Blue Jays become the first team in MLB history to have two players who have hit homeruns in seven consecutive games.
When I hit the HR for his 7th straight the announcers said, "Who does he think he is, Joey Votto? Now with this bit of history the commentary is pretty special.
Only THREE players have ever hit a homerun in 8 consecutive games. Ken Griffey Jr., Mariners 1993. Don Mattingly, Yankees 1987. And Dale Long, Pirates 1956. Santander will have his chance in the home of Mike Trout.Comment

Cardinals swept by Rangers as woeful 2025 season continues into June
The Cardinals (22-37) were swept by the Rangers in Arlington over the weekend. The Cardinals are now 12 games out of first place in the Central and 10 games out of the wildcard.
This team just cannot find a way to play consistently and put together wins. Their 22 wins over the first two months of the season puts them on track to win just 66 games in 2025. The Cardinals reluctancy to do anything of value to improve the club this past offseason is showing. Couple that with injuries and you have the makings of a team that could lose 100 games this year and miss the playoffs yet again.
The Cardinals are already without Masyn Winn and Ivan Herrera until end of August first part of September and now you can add Brendan Donovan to that list, as he suffered a torn calf muscle in the game on Sunday. Donovan will not return until September sometime.
Its been a disappointing season but I don't know that its truly unexpected given they did nothing to improve the club during the offseason.
After an off day on Monday, the Cardinals will return home for a 3 game series with the Royals starting on Tuesday night.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion
Texas Rangers MOM season 1 update
What a turn around for the Rangers after a rough start. We are 23 and 21 and sit 2 games out of first place. Nathan Eovaldi has been incredible. He is 7 and 0 and has an ERA of 1.5. Him along with Mahle and Degrom are pitching well. I would say I'd probably be 10 games over 500 if not for my bullpen. Outside of Martin and Chagrois we simply can't count on anyone holding a lead. Finding a 4th and 5th starter has been a chore. Bradford has landed on the IL twice and Rocker, Leiter, and Teodo all have struggled.
Leading the way on offense is Higgashiokwa and Seagar. Semien cannot put things together as he is hitting only 220. If we can clear up some pitching issues this team has unlimited potential
Other notes. Ohtani is unreal. Leads every single category. Hader was traded to Boston. That rookie catcher from Atlanta is killing it. Doug BaldwinComment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion
The 2025 Seattle Mariners
Series Recap: Rangers
Game 1: W 7-3
Game 2: L 2-3
Game 3: L 3-4
The Pink Gorilla Games high performer of the series: Jorge Polanco: 3 hits, 1 HR, 2 RBI
The first game the offense really clicked. The main guy was the struggling J.P. Crawford with 3 hits, one of them a 2 run home run. Cal Raleigh and Garver each hit another one to finish the Rangers.
George Kirby didn't have the best game, but at least managed to pitch for 7 innings. From there Matt Brash took over, who didn't have the best start to the season, and just allowed 1 hit to finish them.
The second game was a different story: Tyler Mahle took a no-hitter into the 6th but Esteury Ruiz broke it up with a double. In the 9th inning we hit two home runs by Robles and Raley, but couldn't close the gap. The Rangers did their scoring early, leading by 3 in the second inning.
The third one hurts. We took a 2 run lead in the 9th inning after only giving up one run in the first. Which was especially strong because Bryan Woo had to leave the game with an injury after 1 out. Then Andres Munoz came in for the save. First Higgy came on base, then Adolos Garcia hit the tieing home run. The game already felt like a loss at that point, so Semien hit the walkoff dagger with the next pitch to win it for the Rangers.
That means we are 3rd in the division now, 1 behind the Rangers, 1.5 behind the Astros. We are 2nd in the wild card though, so at least we are in the picture after 33 games.
Bryan Woo doesn't have to miss a start, so we are still very lucky with injuries.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion
Yankees Sweep Brewers, Dominating Start to 2025 Season
The Yankees (3-0) opened the 2025 season with a strong performance, sweeping the Brewers at home in a 3-game series. The Yankees showcased a dominant attack, outscoring the Brewers 21-7 across the three games, and their pitching staff was lights out throughout the series.
This was a statement series for New York, who are looking to bounce back after a disappointing finish to the 2024 season. The Yankees’ offensive fireworks were on full display, with Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger leading the charge. Anthony Volpe and Jazz Chisholm Jr. added speed to the attack, swiping 6 and 5 bases, respectively.
Balanced Attack: The Yankees put up 21 runs in the series, led by Anthony Volpe, Aaron Judge, and Cody Bellinger. Volpe, in particular, had a standout series, driving in 5 RBIs and swiping 6 bases, setting the tone for the offense.
Speed & Power: The lineup combined for six home runs and 11 stolen bases. Volpe (6 SB) and Chisholm (5 SB) wreaked havoc on the basepaths, giving the Yankees a lethal combination of speed and power.
Pitching Dominance: Max Fried was untouchable in Game 2, striking out 15 in a complete-game gem. Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil delivered solid outings in Games 1 and 3, anchoring the rotation and keeping the Brewers’ hitters off balance all series.
Bullpen Strength: Yankees relievers were outstanding, allowing just two earned runs over the three games. Devin Williams secured the save in Game 3, continuing to impress in high-leverage situations.
The Brewers, on the other hand, struggled to get anything going offensively. Christian Yelich and Rhys Hoskins provided most of the offensive production, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Yankees’ dominance.

Trade Alert: Yankees Make Big Moves for Future
Yankees get: Michael Busch (INF) & Walker Powell (RHP)
Cubs get: Marcus Stroman (RHP) & Luis Durango (OF)
In an early-season move, the Yankees sent veteran pitcher Marcus Stroman and prospect Luis Durango to the Cubs in exchange for infielder Michael Busch and pitcher Walker Powell. The trade signals the Yankees’ willingness to clean house and bring in younger pieces for the future.
This trade adds versatility to the Yankees’ infield with Busch, who is known for his power and ability to play multiple positions, and Powell, a pitching prospect the Yankees see as a key part of their long-term plans.
⸻
Trade Alert: Rays Add to Rotation
Rays get: Patrick Sandoval (LHP)
Red Sox get: Pete Fairbanks (RHP)
The Tampa Bay Rays made a splash in the trade market by acquiring left-handed starter Patrick Sandoval from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for hard-throwing reliever Pete Fairbanks. This trade bolsters the Rays’ rotation, giving them another reliable arm to pair with their already strong staff.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox add a power arm in Fairbanks to their bullpen, hoping to strengthen their late-game options. Despite the timing being on April 1st, this is no April Fools’ joke—it’s a legitimate deal with the potential to impact both teams significantly.
⸻
Trade Alert: Orioles & Mets Swap Veterans
Orioles get: Ryan Clifford (OF)
Mets get: Gary Sánchez (C)
The Baltimore Orioles made a move to bolster their outfield prospects, acquiring Ryan Clifford from the New York Mets in exchange for veteran catcher Gary Sánchez. The Mets, in need of catching depth, have added Sánchez to their roster, while the Orioles continue to build for the future.
This trade shows both teams prioritizing different areas of need for their respective rosters.
⸻
Yankees Look to Continue Hot Start as Diamondbacks Come to Town
After sweeping the Brewers, the Yankees (3-0) now set their sights on the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 3-game series at Yankee Stadium. The Diamondbacks come in off a solid start to their season, but the Yankees will look to maintain their momentum and keep their offense rolling.
The pitching matchups are as follows:
• Game 1: Clarke Schmidt
• Game 2: Carlos Rodón
• Game 3: Gerrit Cole
With the depth of their rotation and the firepower of their lineup, the Yankees will look to build on their early success as they face Arizona, continuing to chase down a competitive start in the American League East.Last edited by nightowl_80; 03-28-2025, 05:30 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion
Blue Jays send down SP Alek Manoah. Call up SP Yariel Rodriguez.
After giving Manoah two starts he may be worse than Bassitt lol. Rodriguez made 21 starts in 2024 so not even sure how he wasn't on the MLB roster anyway. In triple A he had 13 appearances, two starts. 4-0 1.85era and 20 strikeouts.
He will fly into Seattle and pitch game two of the weekend series. The Blue Jays team era is 4.68, only Miami and Atlanta have higher. Yes Atlanta. We are searching for something. The starting pitching has been a huge problem all year. They have a combined 5.51era. The bullpen has been OK, but certainly not good with their own 4.04era.
Depending on where we are by July, starting pitching is a priority at the trade deadline.

Astros get past poor game one performance to take seris versus Blue Jays
The Houston Astros beat the Toronto Blue Jays in two of their three games of their recent series. However, that scenario looked rather unlikely after the clubs first meeting of 2025. Game one saw future hall of famer Max Scherzer on the mound and a young and possibly up and coming pitcher for the Astros in Hunter Brown.
Well, the veteran got this one. The Astros couldnt get anything to fall against Scherzer and only tallied two hits in his six innings of work. He did give up the Astros lone run of the day when Jose Altuve led off the 7th inning with a solo homerun (5). Meanwhile, Brown also pitched six innings for the Astros but wasnt really good at all...he did have 7 strikeouts but allowed the same amount of hits and three walks. Ultimately, he was charged with six runs for the Blue Jays and that really was enough with the Astros only scoring one the whole game. But, that didnt stop them as they tallied runs against three bullpen arms in Shawn Dubin (2), Glenn Otto (1) and Lance McCullers JR (2) for a total of 11 as they took game one, 11-1.
Next, Ronel Blanco improved to 3-0 on the season with the Astros winning game two, 6-3. His 6 strikeouts in the game kept him tied with Gerrit Cole for the early AL lead. This game also saw what hopefully isnt a continuing trend when the Astros left handed setup man, Bryan King gave up three runs in the eight inning to bring the Jays into striking distance. That also forced Josh Hader out for the 9th who was able to close it out while only 1 hit for his 9th save of the season.
** Altuve was injured diving back to first in the third inning. The Injury is beleived to be a shin bruise that should only keep him out for at most, a week.
Finally, game three saw Spencer Arrighetti also stay undefeated as his record improved to 4-0 with the Astros taking the 8-3 win and the series, 2-1.
Houston will now have a day off before they hit the road to Kansas City where they will have a three game series with the Royals (13-12/3rd AL Central/3.5 behind Minnesota).Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion
2025 Cubs End of April
April is over and the struggling Cubs (12-19) trail the Reds by 4.5 games. Pitching never really got on track as we ranked 27th with a team ERA of 5.19 but the offense was in the top 10 in April in most categories.
Kyle Tucker .310 / 13 HR / 35 RBI has been as good as advertised and Seiya Suzuki along with Michael Busch have caught fire in the last week and a half.
Made a couple changes to the 26 man to start May as we called up Matt Shaw and waived Gage Workman. Also picked up Anthony Banda off waivers to help out the pen.
Ben Brown was also sent down and called up RP Eli Morgan. Colin Rea will move over to the starting rotation for now, he has been solid in relief posting a 3.13 ERA. Luke Little has also been great with a 1.98 ERA and has been moved into the closer role for the time being as we have lost alot of games in April in the 9th.
On to May!

Ryne Sandberg and Ichiro Suzuki begin their journey!
Ryne Sandberg - 6’1 - 175 – 2B
Team: Wichita Wind Surge (Minnesota Twins)
18 years old - AA - 58 overall
Top 100 Prospects: 1st / MLB ETA: 2026
2025 Stats: 3G / .308 BA / .286 OBP / .385 SLG / .670 OPS / 0 HR / 3 RBI
Wind Surge: 3-0 - 0 GB - 1st in Texas League North
“I was so nervous that thinking about it, wasn’t that bad overall of a start, wasn’t it?” asked Sandberg. From the outside looking in, the defensive play was pretty impressive in this 3-game series sweep of the Springfield Cardinals. While not providing booming hits, Sandberg delivered timely hits, production 3 points in that series. He will have to be patient and learn to draw walks, but all in all, you could see why he’s the #1 prospects on the list.
Next: VS Midland RockHounds (1-2, 4th in TL South)
Ichiro Suzuki - 5’11 - 175 - RF
Team: Corpus Christi Hooks (Houston Astros)
18 years old - AA - 55 overall
Top 100 Prospects: 9th / MLB ETA: 2028

Hooks: 1-2 - 1 GB - 4th in Texas League South
Not a bad start for Ichiro in AA Texas League. The Japanese phenom went 4 for 12 and hit the ball well. In fact, out of his 4 hits, 2 we’re poor contact hit balls, while some of his perfect swing didn’t find anything but gloves. “I’m pretty happy with the way things started, and I have a feel I’m going to have a great year.” said Ichiro.
Next: VS San Antonion Missions (1-2, 5th in TL South)

Mets take care of Astros on opening day 7-3 behind strong pitching from Senga. Senga struck 10 in 6 innings giving up 0 runs. Offensively nothing really of note, Mets scattered a few hits here and there but Astros kept walking Mets hitters.Comment
