Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion

Need help with the settings in my franchise, Currently, I'm in year 3 of my Nats rebuild, and I've noticed that I never get injury notifications when simming the game, and I have to go into the actual roster to find out whenever someone is injured. Not only that, but I'll also notice that the CPU is moving players up and down in the organization even though every one of my settings is set to manual. Is there anything I'm missing?

Cardinals take series from Blues Jays in St.Louis

The Cardinals (29-39) took 2 games of their 3 game series with the Blue Jays to begin the week. The Cardinals have now won 3 straight series to start the month of June, but still find themselves 10 games back of the Brewers.

Pitching continues to be a strong part of the recent success, especially starting pitching. The Cardinals starters pitched a combined 21 innings in this series giving up 13 combined hits and 6 runs.

Offensively it continues to be Alec Burleson, Nolan Arenado, and Nolan Gorman as the consistent producers at the plate. Jordan Walker had a breakout series with 5 hits in 8 at bats.

The Cardinals will travel to Milwaukee for a 4 game series with the first place Brewers.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

        The 2025 Seattle Mariners

After a tough series against the best team in the AL East I am happy that we can finally catch a break and play a lesser opponent.

        Series Recap: Yankees
        Game 1: L 0-3
        Game 2: W 8-2
        Game 3: W 2-1

The Pink Gorilla Games high performer of the series: Logan Gilbert: 7 innings, 4 hits, 1 ER, 11 K

I was a bit joking with the intro, but correct at the same time. Before the series the Yankees were in last spot in the division with a 17-24 record. And that without many injuries.

But still we can't escape our routine of playing an awful offensive first game of the series. We had 1 hit the whole game!
On the other side we allowed 0 hits to Stanton and Judge, both combined for 5 strikeouts. Jasson Dominguez scored first on a solo shot in the 2nd inning, later Volpe brought home two runs.

The second game was the opposite: We hit the ball, Judge scored 2 home runs but his supporting cast didn't record more then 2 hits for the rest of the game.
It could not have started better: Walk by Robles, Single by J-Rod, Home run by Raleigh. Polanco later hit a 2 run shot and batted another run in on a sac fly. The last big play was a Raley double, which brought home 2 runners.

The last game was an awesome battle between Gilbert and Gil. Not only does Logan has the longer name, he had the deeper pocket as well.
Gil only made 1 mistake in the game and that was underestimating the power of one Rowdy Tellez, who hit a huge home run in the 4th inning. Oswaldo Cabrere tied the game up one inning later, bringing Jazz home with an RBI single. But rookie Cole Young came on base the next half inning and after a stolen base he was batted in by our MVP.
Matt Brash made it close again, giving up 3 hits in the 8th but with bases loaded he managed to get Judge with a strikeout for the last out.

        The AL West
        1. Rangers (27-19)
        2. Mariners (24-18)
        3. Astros (23-21)
        4. Angles (18-25)
        5. As (16-29)

We are still keeping it close with the Rangers, but at least the Astros started losing some games. But I would assume we will as well with a tough series in San Diego next, followed by 3 games at the White Sox and then closing the road trip with 4 games against said Astros, all without a single day of rest in-between. With how bad our bench is there will be some ugly performances.

Blue Jays take 2 of 3 against Washington.

            Game 1 - WIN
            Jays 4 Nationals 0
            Vlad - 2/4 HR, 3RBI
            Velasquez - 1/4 RBI
            Bassitt - 7.0 4H, 0ER, 0BB, 7K (W)

            Game 2 - WIN
            Jays 3 Nationals 2
            Santander 2/4 HR, 2RBI
            Springer 3/4, HR, RBI
            Gausman - 7.1 4H, 2ER, 2BB, 5K (W)
            Hoffman - 1.0 0H, 2K (SV)

            Game 3 - Loss
            Jays 3 Nationals 6
            Kirk 1/4 RBI
            Velasquez 2/4 RBI
            Gimenez 1/3 2R 3B
            Berrios - 5.0 7H 3ER 1BB 1K (L)

The big story is Santander leading the AL in home runs with 7 after the end of 7 games. The Jays currently sit 4-3 and have a tough stretch of road games coming up against the Mets, Red Sox and Orioles. New addition, Velasquez played all three games and has three hits, two of those hits were with runners in scoring position.

After the series, the Jays made some minor transactions. They signed Keynan Middleton and Cooper Hummel to minor league contracts. They will report to AAA.

The team also claimed Hector Neris from Atlanta. He will report to the major league club and Yariel Rodriguez was placed on waivers with the hope he will clear and head to AAA to provide some depth. Yariel has been hit around so far in his three appearances early in the season.

Also, in other news the Rays acquired OF Leody Tavares from Texas for RP Edwin Uceta.

Cardinals split 4 game series with Brewers in Milwaukee

The Cardinals (31-41) split their 4 game series with the Central division leading Brewers over the weekend in Milwaukee. The split means the Cards are still 10 games back of the Brewers. The Cardinals are 7.5 back of the final wildcard spot.

The first 3 games of the series were exciting with the Brewers winning on Thursday, 3-2, then the Cardinals won Friday 3-2, and Saturday 4-3. The one run games ended Sunday when the Brewers beat the Cardinals 9-4 with costly errors (Nootbaar and Contreras) would allow the Brewers to not only take a lead but blow the game open.

Speaking of Nootbaar and Contreras, they both continue to just struggle at the dish. Nootbaar is hitting just .178 in mid-June and Contreras is hitting just .211. Both guys show flashes of production, but its short lived and far in between.

Starting pitching continues to be a strong part of the Cardinals recent success. The starters are typically getting to the 6th inning or later recently thus taking pressure off the bullpen. The bullpen however, continues to be hit or miss. Guys like Ryan Helsley and Andre Pallante continue to be very reliable, but the rest continue to have a bad outing for every good outing.

Offensively Alec Burleson, Nolan Arenado, Cesar Prieto, Jordan Walker, and recently acquired Harrison Bader just continue to be steady at the plate. Jordan Walker in this last series had 6 hits with 2 doubles and a homer in just 3 games played. Cesar Prieto who was inserted into the starting lineup after both Masyn Winn and Brendan Donovan ended up on the IL, is hitting over .300 and currently owns a 9 game hitting streak.

The Cardinals are off on Monday as they travel to Chicago for a 3 game series with the White Sox.

Texas Rangers MOM Update Season 1

We are now 76 games in to our first season and its been up and down is all I can say. We are currently 35-41 and sit 7 games out of 1st place. The Mariners currently hold the division lead. Degrom has been a huge disappointment. His ERA is in the high 4's and he's regressed to a 85 rating. Nathan Eovaldi was on fire but has slowed recently. He is 8-2 and sits 2nd in Cy Young voting. Cody Bradford is coming off 2 IL stints and is about average with an ERA in the 4's. Mahle just got hurt and is shelved for 15 days but was pitching Ok. The 5th starter has been a joke. Whatever we throw out there gets killed. Offensively here is how its going

C- Heim/ Higgy- Both are carrying there weight. Higgy showing pop with 13 HR's
1B- Burger went down for the second time on the 60 day Il. So its Josh Smith and Justin Foscue. Both are about average
2b- The biggest disappointment this year is the lack of production from Semien. I will look to put him on the trade block in July. 230 with 4 HR's
SS- Seagar is Seagar. Hes carrying the team offensively
3B- Jung- Another huge disappointment. Low average no run production
LF- Langford. Blossoming in to a superstar
                CF Tavaras- avg Production
RF Garcia- Great start but is tapering off

My Bullpen has been rocky. Scottie McAlpin (A FA pick up in the offseason is my closer, he's doing ok and JT Cagrois, the rest are hold your breath and hope they can get 3 outs)

Still a lot of time to turn things around. The next 2 weeks will determine if we are buyers or sellers

The Phillies started their season with back-to-back homers in the first inning by Bohm and Harper. Bohm then scored two more runs in the second inning. Kyle Schwarber went deep in the top of the 8th for his first homer of the season.

                  Game 2 : Phillies 4-0 Nationals

The last game of the series went back and forth between the two teams. Kyle Schwarber hit his 2nd home run of the season in the top of the first inning, but James Wood tied the game in the bottom of the first with his first home run. The score remained tied at one until the 5th inning, when Turner went deep to put the Phillies ahead 2-1, only to see Paul DeJong drive in two runs with a home run, putting the Nationals in front 3-2. The Phillies then tied the game in the bottom of the 9th before taking the lead in the 10th. Matt Strahm closed the door with his first save of the season.

The Phillies will now head home for their home opener against the Rockies (0-3).

Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion

                      2025 Cleveland Guardians

Guardians’ hit their stride, sweep Angels in dominant series

                      Game 1: W 4-1
                      Win: Shane Bieber (1-0) 6.0 IP, 7 H, 7 SO, 2 BB, 1 ER
                      Loss: Jose Soriano (1-1) 0.1 IP, 1 H, 0 SO, 0 BB, 1 ER

For the second game in a row, the opponents starting pitcher left in the first inning. Soriano would give up a fly out to Steven Kwan and a double to Kyle Manzardo, and that was all. He was pulled after five pitches with shoulder tightness. Jack Kochanowicz would be forced into the game unprepared and give up three runs in four and two thirds innings. Carlos Santana, Steven Kwan and Kyle Manzardo all had RBI base hits to give Cleveland a 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the second. LA would then get their only run of the game in an inning that saw Shane Bieber lose command of his pitches. He would rebound and dominate the Angels for the next four innings before turning it over to the back end of Cleveland’s bullpen: Trevor Stephan, Cade Smith and Emmanuel Clase. They did their job to give the Guardians a series opening win.

                      Game 2: W 3-1
                      Win: Gavin Williams (2-0) 5.2 IP, 3 H, 4 SO, 1 BB, 1 ER
                      Loss: Reid Detmers (0-2) 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 2 ER

The combination of Kyle Manzardo and Jose Ramirez showed real potential once again. Manzardo had two singles in the game was Ramirez drove him in both times, the second time via a two run home run that gave Cleveland a 3-0 lead in the fifth. The Angels’ lone run came from a home run from Jorge Soler, but they never posed much of a threat in this game. Gavin Williams pitched well again, but once again his pitch count got too high and he had to leave before completing the sixth inning. Paul Sewald, Hunter Gaddis and Emmanuel Clase held LA in check and gave the Guardians their second series win in a row.

                      Game 3: W 8-3
                      Win: Ben Lively (1-0) 6.0 IP, 5 H, 6 SO, 1 BB, 3 ER
                      Loss: Brock Burke: (0-1) 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 SO, 1 BB, 1 ER

The combination of Kyle Manzardo and Jose Ramirez? Yeah, they struck again. They hit back to back home runs on back to back pitches in the first, and would finish the game with 3 doubles (all Manzardo), 3 home runs (1 for Manzardo, 2 for Ramirez) and a combined 5 RBI (two and three, respectively). Los Angeles fought back in the fourth inning, tying the game at 3 via a Logan O’Hoppe home run; but Bo Naylor hit a solo home run in the seventh to give Cleveland a 4-3 advantage. The Guardians exploded in the ninth, scoring four times; all via the home run. Ben Lively pitched well, and Jakob Junis, Tim Herrin and Trevor Stephan followed him with an inning apiece.

Interesting sidenote, Boog and Singleton were talking about the wind blowing out at the very start of the game; even commenting that even a weakly hit ball could carry out on a day like this. They were definitely right about that.

The Guardians (6-3) are firing on all cylinders, dominating the Angels in all three games. They will now have a day off before coming home to Cleveland for their home opener against the White Sox (3-6).

Team: Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals)
                        21 years old - AA - 59 overall
                        Top 100 Prospects: 34th / MLB ETA: 2027

                        Last Series: 6G / 15 for 28 / 2 HR / 10 RBI
                        2025 Stats: 9G / .475 BA / .523 OBP / .775 SLG / 1.298 OPS / 2 HR / 10 RBI

Performance: “Everything was going slow motion, and I was just making good contact. Can say more than that, it was a series for the ages.” explained the center fielder. Puckett had two 4 for 5 games and produced 10 points in 6 games. Even if hitting 2 HR in 6 games wasn’t enough, he piled up 5 doubles. It’s going to be tough doing better in the next series.

Team: Cardinals took 4 out of the 6 games against the Sod Poodles. The team is second in runs with 44 in 9 games and first in base on balls with 43. On the pitching side, the team is in the middle of the pack for most of the stats. They’re giving a lot of hits, but they get out of trouble. Pitching will have to get better, since the offensive isn’t sure to keep it up all season.

                        Cardinals: 6W – 3L – 0.0 GB - 1st in Texas League North
Next: vs Arkansas Travelers (4W – 5L, 4th in TL North)

                        Cal Ripken Jr. – 6’4 - 205 – 3B
                        Team: Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals)
                        18 years old - AA - 56 overall
                        Top 100 Prospects: 3rd / MLB ETA: 2027

                        Last Series: 6G / 10 for 28 / 2 3B / 9 RBI
                        2025 Stats: 9G / .325 BA / .341 OBP / .500 SLG / .841 OPS / 2 3B / 9 RBI

Performance: Individually, it was a nice bounce back series for Ripken Jr. 3 games where he went 2 for 5 and a 3 for 6 to had up, we can say without a doubt that he’s arrived in AA ball! “I needed to play better, and I did. I’ll have to speak with manager, because batting first in the last, we’re I was 0 for 4, I didn’t feel comfortable.” To be fair, Ripken’s been batting everywhere thus far, from 1st, to 4th, 5th, 6th and even 8th.

Team: While individually it was fine, on team base, that series was brutal. The Senators kept it close 5 games out of 6, losing 4 in the process, but last game was solid kick in the rear. It was 3-0 after 1st, 8-0 after 2nd and 10-0 after 3. The game ended with a 13-1 score, and the Flying Squirrels left Harrisburg with 5 wins in 6 games.

                        Senators: 3W – 6L – 4.0 GB – 6th in Eastern League Southwest
Next: @ New Hampshire Fisher Cats (5W – 4L, 3rd in EL Northeast)

                        Rickey Henderson – 5’10 - 180 – LF
                        Team: Midland RockHounds (Athletics)
                        18 years old - AA - 57 overall
                        Top 100 Prospects: 3rd / MLB ETA: 2027

                        Last Series: 6G / 3 for 28 / 1 HR / 2 RBI
                        2025 Stats: 9G / .175 BA / .195 OBP / .375 SLG / .570 OPS / 2 HR / 3 RBI

Performance: ”It must have been painful from his own view, because it was painful for everyone to watch!” said team manager. In fact, Rickey’s series was that bad, statistically and visually. Going 3 for 28 in a 6-game series won’t make a player like Rickey happy. He was a no show in front of the media, and that’s excusable for an 18-year-old kid who had one of his worst moment ever in baseball.

Team: Rickey struggled but the RockHounds delivered in the series against the Wind Surge. 5 wins out of 6 games, 4 by 1 run while the last game was a 2-runs win. The only lost came in game 4, a 12-1 thumping. The team is 4th in AA with 79 strikeouts so far this season, which explain, in part, why the team is now 5-4.

                        RockHounds: 5W – 4L – 1.0 GB – 2nd in Texas League South
Next: vs. Corpus Christi Hooks (4W – 5L, 3rd in TL South)

                        Due up:
Ryne Sandberg (2B) - Minnesota Twins

Astros avoid sweep after game two heartbreak

The Milwaukee Brewers are having a disappointing start to 2025 and the Astros looked to keep that going.

Freddy Peralta and company had other plans. Peralta and a mix of four relievers held the Astros to just 4 hits and 1 run in the first game of the series. Peralta allowed three of those hits in his five innings of work and allowed the one run but was overall dominate as he also struck out six.

The Astros did score first on Yordan Alvarez's sixteenth homerun of the season in the first inning. After that, they would fail to score again while Milwaukee put six on the board with all six along with fourteen hits charged to Houston's starter, Spencer Arrighetti who now has his first official loss of the season.

Fast forward to the fourth inning in game two. The Astros looked poised to even up the series as at the end of their at bats, they led 7-2. Then, Milwaukee laid into Cristian Javier as they score four of their own three of which came off of a Eric Haase three run HR, his second on the season.

From there, both teams continued to hit homers as the Astros got two from Isaac Paredes and single shots from Brendan Rodgers, Yordan Alvarez, Yainer Diaz and Chas Mccormick. The Brewers' came off of the bats of the aforementioned Eric Haase, Jackson Chourio, Gleyber Torres and William Contreras.

That all led to the score being tied 11-11 after nine innings. Then extras were less than exciting. Mostly for Houston who failed to score. Garrett Mithcell then went on to hit the walk off single in the bottom half of the 10th to leave no doubt that Milwaukee would win the series.

The Astros did win game three as Framber Valdez pitched 7 strong innings allowing just two runs. Nestor Cortes was good for Milwaukee as well but this time, the bullpen did not back up their starter with Joel Payamps replacing Cortes and allowing 3 hits and 3 runs without recording an out. The Astros went on to win, 6-2 to avoid the sweep.

The Astros are still second in the division but the Rangers appear to have woken up and are right on Houston's heels.

Houston will now have a day off before they return home to face Cincinatti (21-17/1st NL Central/1.0 over Pittsburgh).

Haven't started my franchise in 25 yet, but for those that have, starting pitcher stamina, any chance there's actually progression now and not just regression?

Cardinals drop series to White Sox for first series loss of June

The Cardinals (32-43) dropped 2 games of a 3 game series with the White Sox in Chicago and now trail the division leading Brewers by 11 games. This was the first series loss for the Cardinals in the month of June as they had been playing pretty good baseball.

The offense did enough averaging 6 runs per game this series, but the pitching staff decided to not locate, leave pitches over the plate, and get roughed up.

The Cardinals won the series opener outscoring the White Sox 8-5, but then they would only score 5 runs the last two games and the White Sox scored 11 and 9 respectively.

Jordan Walker and Alec Burleson were stars this series each getting 6 hits and each driving in 5 runs over the 3 game series.

The Cardinals will return home as they welcome the Reds to town for a 3 game weekend series.

RTTS : Sandberg keeps doing well / Ichiro toolbox impressive

                                Ryne Sandberg – 6’1 - 175 – 2B

                                2025 Stats: 9G / .286 BA / .333 OBP / .343 SLG / .676 OPS / 2 2B / 5 RBI

Performance: “1 great game, 3 good games and 2 awful games. Consistency will have to be better, to say the least!” said the young second basemen after the 6-game series. While not having consistency, Sandberg got more and more patience, getting strikeout only once while getting a free pass one-time in each of the last three games. “Defensively, he’s quite impressive!” mentioned the team manager.

Team: Tough one there. One win to start the series, then 5 losses. Producing runs was a struggle with the Wind Surge only managing 14 runs in 6 games. After 4 wins, the team has lost is last five and now get under .500. They will now hit the road for a 6-game stint against the Drillers.

                                Wind Surge: 4W – 5L – 1.0 GB – 3rd in Texas League North

Performance: Ichiro found his stride in that series after a few games. The last 3 games we’re solid, with good contacts and great result. He went 7 for 12 in those games, prompting a quick answer from team manager after asked about his rookie: “It’s going to be something when he gets fully accustomed to our style of play. That guy has all the tools to succeed!”.

Team: 2 losses to start the 6-game series, followed by 4 wins and strong play. The Hooks had two 8-runs outing in that series against the Missions and pitching was solid overall. “We won the series and we’re pretty happy with the team play.
