Mets take game two of the Astros series 5-1. Strong outing from Manea going six giving up one run. Mets hitters starting slow but are drawing walks. Astros walked another seven in this game. Alonso was the first to break through the HR threshold hitting a solo shot in the sixth.

Mets complete the sweep pounding the Astros 12-2. Mets bats come alive, McNeil and Soto each had 2 HRs and 5 RBIs. Mets now travel to Miami to play the 3-1 Marlins.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion

The Marlins season comes to an end as they finish 68-94 35 games back of the division winning Phillies. Going into the off-season the Marlins will be targeting some veteran players to go along with the young guys.

        Lineup:
C: Joe Mack .199 1 HR 15 RBI - will probably bring in a veteran to platoon with him
1B: Jonah Bride .290 20 HR 87 RBI - was awesome might be looking to flip though
2B: Xavier Edwards .285 2 HR 6 RBI - was injured most of the season
3B: Graham Pauley .217 10 HR 41 RBI - had a decent season and might just be a place holder for Miller
SS: Otto Lopez .240 4 HR 30 RBI - had an up and down season more of a place holder for Caba
LF: Nathan Martorella .284 2 HR 6 RBI - probably will be the starter in left with Hill platooning
CF: Dane Myers .269 12 HR 53 RBI - Big fan of his
RF: Griffin Conine .277 17 HR 71 RBI - Solid season definitely a guy to build around
DH: Connor Norby .253 32 HR 87 RBI - definitely a cornerstone of the franchise going forward

        Bench:
Liam Hicks .134 5 RBI - was injured most of the year will probably be in the minors
Spencer Torkelson .220 11 HR 47 RBI - still not sure with him but will platoon
Matt Mervis .193 6 HR 19 RBI - probably will be in the minors
Javier Sanoja .196 4 HR 20 RBI - more of a defensive sub
Ronny Simon .261 1 HR 3 RBI - was decent
Heriberto Hernandez .178 2 HR 7 RBI - probably in the minors
Derek Hill .260 6 HR 28 RBI - was solid as a platoon player

        Rotation:
Eury Perez 3-6 4.59 1.44 - was okay coming back from injury
Edward Cabrera 8-14 4.28 1.66 - he was decent and definitely needs to cut down on the walks
Will Warren 2-6 3.91 1.30 - definitely showed some promise
        Valente Bellozo 10-7 3.66 1.34 - very solid
Ryan Weathers 5-7 4.01 1.48 - was probably my most consistent guy but was injured a lot
Max Meyer 3-8 6.52 1.57 - not sure what to do with him

        Bullpen:
        Xzavion Curry 2-1 60 IP 2.09 1.13 - easily my best reliever
        George Soriano 5-2 96 IP 2.89 1.21 - really good year
        Andrew Nardi 3-2 90 IP 3.28 1.17 - good against lefties
        Jesus Tinoco 3-4 69 IP 3.86 1.26 - was solid
        Ronny Henriquez 5-2 59 IP 2.59 1.24 - definitely my setup guy/ closer
        Calvin Faucher 1-6 58 IP 10 SV 3.26 1.31 - up and down year
        Declan Cronin 0-2 14 IP 8.59 1.91 - was terrible
        Brett De Geus 1-1 31 IP 4.06 1.45 - he was decent

        Top 10 Prospects:
        George Lombard
        Robby Snelling
        Aidan Miller
        Starlyn Caba
        Thomas White
        Noble Meyer
        Agustin Ramirez
        Spencer Jones
        PJ Morlando
        Dillon Head

        Transactions:
Claimed Max Lazar from the Phillies
Claimed Anthony Molina from the Rockies
        Released Janson Junk

The Mets get back in the win column thanks to 6.1 shutout innings from Frankie Montas. Mets got on the board in the fourth after a Pete Alonso walk, a wild pitch and then a Mark Vientos RBI single. Juan Soto added a much needed insurance run with a solo blast in the 8th inning as Edwin Diaz allowed a solo HR in the 9th but held on for a 2-1 Mets win. At 6-4 the Mets are currently 1.5 games back of the Phillies

Mets play their first drama filled game. Mets fell behind the Marlins early 2-0 but then took a 5-2 lead in the middle innings. Bullpen failed as Marlins took a 6-5 lead heading to the ninth. Top ninth with two outs and one on Jose Siri delivers with a 2 run HR to give the Mets a 7-6 lead. Diaz nailed the ninth for his first save. Mets go to 4-0.

                      2025 Houston Astors 04/25-04/27

Overall Record: 15-12 (2nd AL West/2.5 behind Seattle).

                      Game Results:

                      Game 1
                      Astros-5
                      Royals-4

                      Game 2
                      Royals-4
                      Astros-3

                      Game 3
                      Royals-4
                      Astros-0

Astros drop below .500 on the road (5-7) in series loss to Kansas City

Bobby Witt JR is a young superstar and he was great versus the Houston Astors in their three game series (6-13). Houston did get one win in the series thanks to a strong 7th inning versus Seth Lugo and Carlos Estevas as the Astros changed a 2-0 deficit into a 5-2 lead all on two outs. Those runs came via rbi's by Yainer Diaz, Jeremy Pena and Chas Mccormick. Shawn Dubin got the win out of the bullpen despite Cristian Javier having his best start of the young season. Josh Hader also collected his 10th save of the season.

Game two saw the Astros give Lucas Erceg his first blown save of the season when Yainer Diaz collected a rbi to bring the score to a tie 3-3. Unfortunately, for Houston, the Royals were able to score in the 10th while the Astros were not as Kansas City evened the series at 1-1.

Game three was all KC as Michael Lorenzon out dueled Hunter Brown who also likely had his best game of 2025 (8.0 IP/11 hits/4 runs and 4 SO).

Despite the high hit count, Brown did what he needed to keep the Astros in the game, unfortunately the Astros couldn't get a run across the plate as they took their second shutout loss of the season.

The Astros will now end the month of April back home with three against Detroit (14-14/ 4th AL Central).

Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion

I started my Cleveland Guardian Franchise the day the game came out with the early release.
I always do CPU vs CPU and just be GM. Default sliders and I will tell you what the Guardians are not hitting well. By the end of May I have 6 players batting under 200. Lane Thomas was horrible. He was batting under 140 and only 2 homers and 5 RBI's so I decided to trade him. I got Leody Tavares for him. Straight up. He was batting 310 when I picked him up. I saved money as he was only 800,000 a year contract. Land was at 8 million. Since I got him after 5 games he has upped his average to 333 and has hit 2 homers and 7 RBI's. I am 22 and 29 and 4th in the Central. I am hoping it will turn around soon. But I am enjoying the game so much! It is the best this game has ever been in my opinion. I will update after another month and hope my record is better.

Thomas hitting like crazy, Walker doing ok and Smith struggling at the plate!

                          Frank Thomas - 6’5 - 240 - 1B
                          Team: Chattanooga Lookouts (Cincinnati Reds)
                          21 years old - AA - 62 overall
                          Top 100 Prospects: 3rd / MLB ETA: 2026

                          2025 Stats: 9G / .378 BA / .395 OBP / .649 SLG / 1.043 OPS / 5 2B / 5 RBI

                          Lookouts: 6-3 - 1 GB - 2nd in Southern League North

Performance: A good series for Thomas who went 10 for 24 with 4 doubles and 1 triple. The triple was something, with Thomas taking his 240 pounds around the bases. “You could feel the ground shaking when he turned around second base!” said the third base coach. Thomas was starring at his teammates yelling who said I couldn’t run? Who?

Team: On a team aspect, after taking the first 3 games from the Barons, the winning streak ended, and the Barons got of town with a 3-3 split. Next for the Lookouts, a 6 games trip to Knoxville to face the Smokies.

Next: @ Knoxville Smokies (7-2, 1st in SL North)

                          Larry Walker - 6’3 - 235 - RF
Team: Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies)
                          18 years old - AA - 58 overall
                          Top 100 Prospects: 3rd / MLB ETA: 2027

                          2025 Stats: 9G / .300 BA / .300 OBP / .475 SLG / .775 OPS / 4 2B / 6 RBI

                          Yard Goats:4-5 - 2 GB - 5th in Eastern League Northeast

Performance: After a slow start in the first game, Walker series against the Binghampton Rumble Ponies went into a frenzy, with the right fielder going 6 for 14 with 2 RBI’s and 3 doubles. Things went a little bit colder in the last two games with 2 for 10. “That’s part of the process; I’ll get through that and learn from it. I’m really looking forward to the home opener in front of our fans!” said Walker.

Team: So far, the Yard Goats are hitting well (4th in the AA) but really struggling on the mound with a 4.13 ERA overall, tied for 26th.

Next: VS Portland Sea Dogs (2-7, 6th in EL Northeast)

                          Ozzie Smith - 5’11 - 160 - SS
                          Team: Biloxi Shuckers (Milwaukee Brewers)
                          21 years old - AA - 58 overall
                          Top 100 Prospects: 45th / MLB ETA: 2027

                          2025 Stats: 9G / .258 BA / .385 OBP / .323 SLG / .707 OPS / 7 BB / 1 RBI

                          Shuckers: 4-5 - 2 GB - 3rd in Southern League South

Performance: While getting 7 base on balls in the series, the last two games didn’t provide many good at bats. Mostly late on pitches, especially fastballs, Smith didn’t do much, going 0 for 5. “I’m a bit frustrated so far to be honest, and I need to do much to help the team, that’s the priority for me.” said the SS

Team: Low scoring games was the main trend in this series. After blanking the Clingstones 1-0 and 2-0 in the first two, the Shuckers saw the visitors get away with 4 wins in a row. The only game that wasn’t a 1 run game was the last, ending 5-2 for Columbus. The Shuckers will hit the road next, for a 6-game series against the Barons

Next: @ Birmingham Barons (5-4, 3rd in SL North)

                          Due up:

                            The 2025 Seattle Mariners

We continue to switch between looking like the best team one game and the worst team in the league the other.

                            Series Recap: Athletics
                            Game 1: L 1-3
                            Game 2: W 9-1
                            Game 3: W 6-1

The Pink Gorilla Games high performer of the series: Julio Rodriguez: 6 hits, 2 HR, 3 RBI

We only managed 3 hits against Osvaldo Bido and friends in this game, 1 of them a bomb by Julio to tie the game up in the 4th. But one inning later Tyler Soderstrom hit a two-run home run, from there on nothing happened on our side. The As continued to hit the ball well, but couldn't finish the plays.

Game 2 looks like a dominant performance, but 7 of the 9 runs came in the 8th inning.
The following players recored an RBI in the game: Robles(2), Julio, Raley, Ruiz(2), Solano, Arozarena, Polanco. Very balanced attack!
Randy Arozarena had a great game, hitting the only homer of the game and going 4/5 in the game.
Luis Castillo collected his 4th win of the season, even though he gave up 7 hits in 6 innings. But he always pitched well when he was in critical situations.

The third game was the George Kirby show: 6.1 innings, gave up 3 hits and recored 11 strikeouts. He had a no-hitter going into the 6th, but then he lost some of the control and gave up 3 hits and a run before coming out of the game. Drew Pomeranz closed the last 2.2 innings out in dominant fashion as well.
On offense we saw the 100th home run by Mitch Garver. That guy really makes me think, because he is clearly too good to only be a backup. He could play the every day role for a good team, so maybe that could become an important trade piece later. Especially since we have some promising players in our farm for that position as well and the main guy is set for a while now.

Dylan Moore came into the game in the 7th as well and hit his first home run of the season.

Next we are home for 3 games against the Blue Jays, followed by 3 against the Yankees. I'm happy about our performance right now in general, we just need to get rid of the catastrophic games inbetween. But the team has a lot of potential and it shows in games like the last two.

Cy, I have to say, I love the idea for the Pink Gorilla series high performer.

Cardinals sweep Royals in St.Louis as pitching dominates

The Cardinals (25-37) swept the Royals in a 3 game series in St.Louis. The Cardinals are still 10.5 games behind the Brewers in the NL Central.

The Cardinals pitching staff absolutely dominated this series with a shutout in the first two games of the series. They had one going on Thursday, but Ryan Fernandez gave up a 3 run homerun to Bobby Witt Jr that ended the streak of 24 straight scoreless innings.

The offense wasn't great as they won 2-0 on Tuesday, 3-0 on Wednesday, but did score 5 on Thursday to win 5-3 for the series sweep. The addition of Harrison Bader has been a big plus, as not only is he playing well defensively in centerfield, but him hitting lead off has been a surprise as he's getting on base, stealing a few bases, and giving the middle of the order opportunities to drive in runs.

The Cardinals will stay home this weekend and welcome the NL West leading Dodgers to Busch Stadium for a 3 game series.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
