Rangers Edge Mariners in Close Contest Behind Jung and Rocker

Seattle, WA – In a tightly contested battle, the Texas Rangers secured a 4-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners in a game defined by key home runs and strong pitching performances.

Josh Jung powered the Rangers' offense, delivering a crucial solo home run (2) while driving in two RBIs, earning him Player of the Game honors. Marcus Semien also contributed with a home run of his own (5), going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Wyatt Langford played a vital role with two hits, while Ezequiel Duran added another to keep the pressure on Seattle's pitching staff.

On the mound, Kumar Rocker delivered a solid outing, pitching six innings while allowing five hits and three earned runs. He struck out seven and walked two, keeping the Mariners’ offense in check long enough for the bullpen to close the door. Chris Martin notched his third save of the season, preserving the Rangers' one-run lead.

For the Mariners, Cal Raleigh was the standout performer, launching a home run (3) and driving in three RBIs in a 2-for-4 effort. Donovan Solano continued to carry a hotbat and added two hits and scored twice, while Julio Rodríguez and J.P. Crawford each contributed to Seattle’s offensive efforts, each scoring a run.

Seattle’s starter George Kirby pitched well despite taking the loss, striking out nine batters over six innings. However, he surrendered four earned runs on six hits, which proved to be the difference in the game.

The Mariners continue to struggle with the bat. Only 3 players have an average over .275. Crawford (.292), Solano (.378) and Robles (.382). Julio has started a trend with another slow start to the season, with a .211 average amd only 2 RBI and zero homeruns in 57 AB's.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Franchise Discussion

It's Friday and the wife and kids fell asleep early so got a decent amount of games in so we double dipping tonight.

Seattle Mariners' Offensive Explosion Fuels Victory Over Cincinnati Reds

CINCINNATI ,OH – The Seattle Mariners (12-7) brought the bats in a big way, collecting a season-high 17 hits en route to a 6-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds (8-11). Randy Arozarena led the charge with a much needed breakout, stellar 4-for-5 performance, including two doubles and an RBI, earning Player of the Game honors.

Seattle's offense was relentless, with J.P. Crawford reaching 15 straight games with a hit (3-for-4, two RBIs) and Mitch Haniger (3-for-5, RBI) also playing key roles. Jorge Polanco chipped in with a clutch double and an RBI as the Mariners steadily piled on runs throughout the game.

On the mound, Bryce Miller delivered a strong outing, tossing six innings of four-run ball while striking out ten Reds hitters. His dominant performance helped secure the win, while Andrés Muñoz closed the door in the ninth for his fifth save of the season.
The Reds had their own offensive sparks, with Elly De La Cruz crushing a three-run homer to keep Cincinnati in the game. Will Benson and Jake Fraley added extra-base hits, but their efforts weren’t enough to overcome Seattle’s onslaught.
Cincinnati starter Brady Singer left the game winning, but Tony Santillian struggled in relief, allowing two earned runs in just two innings, and the Reds' bullpen couldn't contain Seattle’s lineup.
With this victory, the Mariners attempt to build momentum, proving their offense can deliver in high-powered performances. Meanwhile, the Reds will look to bounce back and tighten up their pitching in the next contest.

Roster News: Victor Robles out 1-6 days (pulled muscle), Luis Castillo out 1-2 months (fractured arm)
Emerson Hancok called up along with Rowdy Tellez, while Shenton heads to Tacoma to make space for the big bopper, Tellez who will look to add power to this lineup who needs it desperately.

          The 2025 Seattle Mariners

Sometimes you have to beat your friends.

          Series Recap: Blue Jays
          Game 1: W 1-0
          Game 2: W 5-0
          Game 3: W 7-4
The Pink Gorilla Games high performer of the series: George Kirby. 8.1 innings, 7 hits, 0 walks, 8 Ks

Luis Castillo was back from injury and pitched 8 innings with 7 hits and 2 walks. But the Jays struggled to get extra base hits or make contact in scoring situations in general.
We weren't that much better, the difference was a Luke Raley solo shot in the 7th inning.

In his last two games George Kirby pitched 8.1 innings, giving up 19 hits and 14 runs and only 8 Ks. So I was worried how he would hit a Jays lineup that hit suprisingly well so far this season. But he didn't gave me anything to worry about and just as Castillo pitched us to a shutout.
Only this time the offense stepped up as well: Julio, Tellez and Polanco hit homers. The last run was in the 4th inning though, so I hope the defense appreciate defense as well.

The third game was funny. We scored 2 in the 1st, they answered with two. We had 2 scoreless innings, they had 2 scoreless innings. We scored 2 runs in the 4th again, they answered in the second half of that inning with 2. We broke out of that tie only in the 9th, when Jeff Hoffman came in, just to leave again after 1 out and 3 earned runs in his books.
Tellez and Polanco with home runs in back to back games is something that should not happen to often. Very encouraging that Cade Marlowe had a very important hit as well to punch in the first run of the game, it would help so much to get anything from the bench.

          First sweep of the season!

22 games in we can look around the league for a bit:
          - The biggest suprise in the standings: The White Sox already won 11 games, which only brings them to place 4 in the AL Central though. The Twins dominate the division right now with a 4.5 win lead over the Tigers
          - The Yankees started 8-16 and are last in the East

          - The Pirates taking their excellent pitching and turn that into wins: They lead the Central with 15-9. They only allowed 66 runs in those 24 games, the next best team in the division are the Cubs with 93.
          - The NL West looks funny: Dodgers 16 wins, Diamondbacks 15 wins, Padres 15 wins, Giants 15 wins, the Rockies exist(7 wins). This will be a fun race throughout the year.

On the player side the most impressive stat is that White Sox starter Drew Thorpe is leading the league with a 1.09 ERA after 2 starts against the Red Sox and 1 each against the Twins and Tigers.
Another very promising tidbit for the Mariners: The leader in Batting WAR so far is Luke Raley with 1.7, thanks to his 8 home runs in 20 games.

Next up is a series in Boston for us. We need to carry that momentum from the Toronto series, after that we have home series against the Marlins and Angels, before we get the first shot at revenge for the sweep against the Rangers.

Cardinals continue to struggle as they lose series to Brewers

The Cardinals (10-18) have dropped yet another series, this time to inter-division foe the Brewers in St.Louis over the weekend. The Cardinals now find themselves 8 games back of the Reds in the division.

Stop me if you've heard this before. The Cardinals pitching staff got beat up and the bats couldn't do enough to overcome the pitching staff. Sound familiar? Well, that is what happened, again, in the series with the Brewers. The only positive is that the Cardinals avoided the sweep by winning on Saturday.

But something has to give, especially in the rotation. Gray was decent on Friday, Erick Fedde was good on Saturday although he didn't get the win, Miles Mikolas pitched batting practice on Sunday and now has a bloated ERA of just shy of 8.00. There are games where the bullpen is good and then there are games like Friday, where they allow a close game to get out of hand, and Saturday where they blow the lead in the later innings.

Offensively, the Cardinals are only getting production from 3 spots in the batting order on a consistent basis. Other than that, its just awful. And there really isn't any help on the way in terms of the minors. In fact some guys on the Cards roster should be in the minors getting reps to get more consistent and better.

The Cardinals will hit the road for a 4 game series with the Reds in Cincinnati. This will close the book on the month of April. Hopefully for the Cards April showers (woes) bring May flowers (success).

Masyn Winn to IL with shoulder injury

The Cardinals have placed SS Masyn Winn on the 10 Day IL with a shoulder strain. Winn suffered the injury Sunday against the Brewers after a throw to first base during a double play attempt. Winn who is one of the 3 batting order spots that is productive will likely miss 2 weeks.

Yet another blow to a team that just can't get anything to go right.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Create the pool of players you are wanting to trade away somewhere. Then when it's time for him to be traded search for trades wanting prospects. Scroll through and jot down the "buyers" who made offers. Say three buyers who need such player offers...pick random number to decide who gets him.

Then what I do is if they need hitting and get a hitter I cross them off to get a hitter. Try to keep it fair. Sometimes teams get multiple guys if they have the assets and need. Of course the random draw is involved.

And yes, you include your user controlled team in the buyer/seller market as well. Up to you if you cheat the system.

Last year I had Pete Alonso traded to Twins and they went on to win the World Series. Fun to see how it all shakes out and it makes sense inside your franchise world.

Thanks, man. That is a good plan. I guess I could just do the same during the winter meetings in my off-season. I'll have a few teams looking to buy and put together fair trades and use a random number generator to choose the winning team.

After 20 games the Cubs are 8-12 and while pitching has improved the offense is now slumping.

Except for Kyle Tucker and Nico Hoerner we are not producing much scoring. Rubber match against SD today as the Pads took game one 2-1 and the Cubs won game two 4-3.

After losing Crow-Armstrong for 2-3 months his replacement Jankowski was injured for 1 month. Cubs now bring up Kevin Alcantara as he and Brujan will platoon in CF.

So I started messing around with the Padres for my franchise and I'm just too invested in that team, so it made it not fun for me. I couldn't make trades because I liked the players too much and if players weren't performing well it was really bugging me. So I have ditched that experiment and gone a different direction.

I can't believe I'm about to say this but I have chosen the New York Yankees as my franchise team. I have officially joined the evil empire.

The woes continue...Cardinals drop series to Reds

The Cardinals (11-21) dropped 3 of 4 versus the Reds to begin the week. The Cardinals are now 10 games behind the Reds in the NL Central.

Same story, different day. Someone outside of Sonny Gray and Erick Fedde has to step up in the rotation and be able to give the Cardinals at least 5 innings per start. In the 4 games of this series, Gray and Fedde combined to throw 15 2/3 innings. The other two starters, just 7 although we can cut a break to Gordon Graceffo as he left his start during the 3rd inning with an arm issue. Still Gray and Fedde are averaging 6 innings per start combined. The other 3 spots, just 4 2/3 per start.

Offensively the Cardinals showed life Wednesday night hitting 5 homeruns and putting up 10 runs. On Thursday they were shutout and managed 2 hits. Its all or nothing right now.

The Cardinals will now head home and welcome the Mets to town for a 3 game weekend series. Maybe a new month can be the start of a turnaround.

That has to be a bad feeling when you struggle with your pitching staff and see Lindor-Soto-Alonso next on the schedule.

I couldn't make trades because I liked the players too much and if players weren't performing well it was really bugging me. So I have ditched that experiment and gone a different direction.

I can't believe I'm about to say this but I have chosen the New York Yankees as my franchise team. I have officially joined the evil empire.
As a Master Shade Thrower, the Yankees haven't been the Evil Empire since George Steinbrenner owned the Yanks. That title has belonged to the team with another title, The Best Team Money Can Buy. My hope is in five years Steve Cohen will wrestle both titles away for the Amazings.

So your "not shade throwing" ends up calling the Yankees basically irrelevant nowadays. That is a very respectable effort!
