Re: MLB The Show Survey....Serious Things Being Discussed

Hopefully many of these items will be coming soon. In my opinion, while The Show may be the best playing game out of all the major sports gaming titles it is also the most stagnant of all of them. We have tweaks to the gameplay, animations, etc. that make the experience slightly better each year and we have had some items such as scouting and free agency which have been modified over the past few versions but it my opinion the total experience hasn't really changed much. I think there are many things that should be here that aren't (I know we don't want to make this a wish list thread but I can't stop myself).

*Customized season lengths, divisions, game lengths, etc. This should be a must. NBA2K, NHL, Super Mega Baseball can all do this--MLB The Show should have this.
*Record tracking. I should be able to see the top 20 batting averages in Brewer history, career hit leaders in Brewers history, etc. This should apply to career, single game, single season for all teams and league history.
*Carry over saves from year to year like we used to have.
*Multiple commentary teams. NBA, NCAA Football and Madden both have multiple commentary teams. I think The Show definitely should have this. Change it up over the course of the season. Even the old Tony Larusa Baseball used to have 3 announcing options (granted they were limited but I think in 2025 we should have more variety).
*My personal #1 wish is for an Era's mode similar to NBA2K. I understand it would be harder in MLB The Show due to more players but this would be great.
*Online franchise mode. This one maybe would be harder given season lengths but if we have the customization I could see it potentially working with creativity. Maybe 30 game seasons or something like that.
*Managers. Each team should have CPU managers with their own specific playing styles.
*General Managers. Each team should have CPU general managers with their own specific team building styles and personalites.
*One thing I want is a mode with faster gameplay. Maybe it is something like in PGA2K golf where once I hit a shot I can hit the triangle to "fast forward" the outcome. This is probably my #2 desire behind Era mode. As someone who would like to get though 162 games (though I rarely even come close) with limited time this would be awesome. There isn't any value to me to sit and stare at a routine pop out anyway. Let me "hold triangle" to fast forward outcome. I think they should do something like this (maybe strip away every possible thing they can) to have a "fast mode" where you could complete an entire game in 15-20 minutes. I think it would be possible. That would be the sweet spot for me. I'd like to experience a complete game in condensed time. Quick counts and "fast forward" button may get me close. I think this should be a rather simple add.

Another area where I think MLB The Show is really missing out is online. They have their Diamond Dynasty which I believe is pretty popular. I think they should take a look at 2K's playbook and have a whole online portion around your Road to the Show player. Just like NBA 2K and PGA 2K. I think you could do something similar here which would be fun. Have "The Sandlot" where you could take your player and join in on 3 inning live games (or have different options) similar to how NBA The Rec works. You are playing with other players but each playing your own positions. You could have leagues, just random rec games, stat tracking leaderboards, etc. I could see this type of mode being very popular and on par with "The City" in NBA 2K if designed well. It would be fun to take your player and try to get that game winning hit for your online teammates or make a diving catch to save a game.

I think there are many things The Show should be doing. Major features that could be added here. Instead, in my opinion, you could go back and play MLB 20 and still have a fine experience. Is it as good as MLB25? Probably not but it really isn't significantly different (I am someone who likes to play with historic rosters from time to time so still regularly play each of MLB20, 21, 22, 23 and 24--while there are differences it really isn't that big of deal to me as I play each version. I'm not saying the old ones are better but I am saying each version is very similar and they all play fine).

      That would be absolutely amazing.

        18. A new overhauled wear and tear injury system including lingering effects of major injuries, minor strains, career threatening injuries.

I can't love this enough!! This would be so cool to have!

There were a lot of great ideas in the survey that SDS asked about. To implement some or most of these ideas would be great but could very well require that franchise be completely rebuilt from the ground up.

Re: MLB The Show Survey....Serious Things Being Discussed

I to received the email even though I didn’t pre-order, so I don’t know what criteria they used to select who they wanted feedback from. I will say that the email they sent the survey to has been tied to my PS account for over 20 years, and I have owned every iteration of the show since ‘06, so maybe they figured since I keep getting one way or another that I might be helpful. I really don’t know.

I was more surprised than anything that they included me since I have spent less and less time with the show every year since about 2019. I used to play the show all the way up to Maddens release in August, but as a franchise only player this game has just become way too stale and I am usually completely finished with it by the end of May.

The feedback I tried to give was that they don’t need to hit a home run every year. I have been very high on the EA NHL series the last few years and emphasized that if they take the same approach by adding 1-2 key things a year, in 6 years the mode will feel completely different and fresh then what it is now. NHL over the last few years has added revamped scouting, coaching staffs and stats, and even more recently real life licensed coaches, an engaging and fun trade deadline, and a full expansion/relocation feature complete with expansion draft, the ability to customize 3 sets of uniforms, and a very decent create an arena feature that is pretty well fleshed out for a game with a smaller audience like NHL. You can even customized your own mascot lol. It’s just a cool and fun mode. The NHL team didn’t add all of these features in one year. It was a slow build up over a 5-6 year period. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

I know the show has a lot of fans on here, but even with the new free agency this mode is staler than a 3 week old potato chip that got under the couch cushion. I remember at one point they didn’t add anything new to franchise for almost 5 years except for the usual “under the hood improvements and logic”, and this mode is really starting to show its age. I’m glad they are taking in feedback and hope they actually implement some of these changes. The show, for me at least, is now last in terms of franchise replayability out of sports games and for over a decade it was number one for me.

Ramone posted on X that the deadline for feedback to be considered for MLB 26 is in late May. So to get your “feedback” in by then. Which I would think includes this survey. So it looks like there is a really good chance some of this stuff may actually be added next year. Hopefully.

"A true GM mode to simply watch games and run your team ala OOTP baseball."

I already do this with 32 team control and TrueSim's rosters/sliders. Last year he managed to make both the sim and watch sliders the same which really added alot of fun to my franchise because I was comfortable supersimming a game and then jumping in to watch a tense moment. My point is, I'd love a mode like this and if they did make a mode like this, having them develop a slider set which plays well with watched games and simmed games at the same time would really help that mode shine, in my opinion.

                  6. Expanded rosters to add 36 more players for full single A and rookie league

                  7. Expanded draft rounds and scouting

If we ''only'' got six and seven in MLBTS26, I'd could wait for any other advances until MLBTS27, tho a return of year-to-year carry-over saves would definitely be most welcome too. .

You heard the man. Be done wishing for 26 by May. After that, its obsolete and only a MLBTS27 wish list will be relevant.

Also, I don't know if this thread title needs Wish List added to it or not, but I am calling it...

Do you think that anything being discussed here could be added in a patch for ‘25 or is this solely for ‘26?
