Re: MLB The Show Survey....Serious Things Being Discussed
And after expanded rosters, please build out the international part of the game. Those are the two big additions I clamor for.
I assume expanded rosters aren't priority because most players likely don't play more than a couple of seasons.Comment

Re: MLB The Show Survey....Serious Things Being Discussed
The amateur draft is 6-7 rounds and we get 3 scouts who take 3 weeks just to scout one player.
You don' think a more realistic roster size and draft/international signings is more important than whatever fog of war is? I still don't understand it. I can figure out how highly a franchise values a player and what it will take to acquire him now by trying to acquire him. Very simple.
For years the company has been adding this stuff and neglecting core elements of baseball. They reworked the draft but didn't make it better. They added morale and then removed it. Still no changes to roster size, progression models, the dice roll to determine age progression curve while they pursue these side shows. It's a valid issue.
You just always come cross as extremely condescending towards people who have different priorities for the game than you do. It’s one thing to say you disagree and think other things should be prioritized first. Instead you decide to imply that those with differing thoughts on the game’s priorities are dumb and don’t care about the game the same way you do.
We all are passionate about the game, hence why we’re spending our weekend wasting our time writing and complaining about it on a forum.Comment

Numbers 5-7 is what I have wanted for years. I'll be surprised if all of those make 2026. Maybe by PS6 that will give them more room for all the roster stuff.

Gotcha, just wanted to see if we needed to temper our expectations or excitement a little bit. We sometimes take a vague statement from the studio and let our imagination run wild with it only to inevitably be disappointed.Comment

Re: MLB The Show Survey....Serious Things Being Discussed
If a real life team wants to trade for a 5 year vet they aren't relying too heavily on that minor league scouting data. They instead rely on MLB production over his career.
And that is what takes us to the problem with adding a FOW currently. In real life it is both incredibly simple to "scout" MLBers but also complicated in a videogame context.
Unlike prospect scouting where you need to physically see the prospect to get an idea of the quality of player he is, when you scout MLBers all you need to look at is a spreadsheet. But that spreadsheet is what makes FOW hard for videogames because few games have something similar to that (think FM and its ability to create custom sheets).
I'm for adding a FOW, but there's a dependency on improving the UI and stat tracking. The stat tracking in game needs to adopt a spreadsheet style with custom sorting and filtering. And that is also why I wouldn't expect a FOW in the big mainstream sports titles, its a lot of development work for little payoff or engagement.Comment

I doubt it. The game is selling better than any time previously. It looks like they've pushed Diamond Dynasty to its limits and they are just now able to circle back to franchise.T-BONE.

Just took the survey myself. I love what they're thinking about but I don't know how much they'll get in for next year. I'd love to see it all but I'm realist too.Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:

Again the survey was highly encouraging, and a great way for SDS to get constructive feedback on what hardcore as well as casual franchise fans want. But if you look at how the survey started I doubt if someone answered DD and RTTS are their moat played modes they then took them into the franchise portions.
So I fully expect it was hardcore franchise mode players giving the feedback to the franchise development team.
I think most of us agree expanded rosters is the foundation of any further imorovements and customization features as well as Y2Y being implemented.
I hope we see the roster expansion first and foremost which goes hand and hand with draft and scouting expansion. Then go from there onward and forward. Now Playing on PS5:

I play 95% of MLBTS on RTTS mode. I received the RTTS survey a while ago for that mode and answered it with passion and hope that the hardcore gamers of the mode would be listened to. From what I see in the 25 version of RTTS, they made a good job improving many aspects of the mode.
I don't have numbers or stats, but I'm sure there's a lot more of hardcore gamers playing franchise than RTTS, so you guys should get listened to and have some of your changes implemented.
This way of doing things from SDS makes me like the game even more. Not perfect in anyways, but geez I like that game."Ice hockey is a form of disorderly conduct in which the score is kept." - Doug LarsonComment

My expectations are 1-2 big franchise additions a cycle if they have this blueprint and have a white board listing the priorities 1-20.
