It wouldn't be so bad if the content they added since was good but it hasn't been. They replaced a functioning part of the game with poor content.

There are no default SDS retro rosters. The game wasn’t out in the 60s, 70s, 80s etc

I took that as meaning the game implementing Y2Y saves for rosters and user can use those versus having to create year in year out.

If not then I’m not understanding the context of the comment given what it was in response to

I quoted the post I was responding to. I highly doubt Y2Y makes a return but if it does it would much simpler to do it for SDS rosters only.

You are talking about a franchise Y2Y carry-over correct? Wouldn't be any need to just carry-over the SDS roster outside of franchise. And even the default SDS roster has a ton of CAP's in it, so it wouldn't be any simpler to carry-over that roster than one that has those CAP's altered by the user. It doesn't work that way. Can't work that way.

Again I have no idea how that response has any relevance to what the person you quoted was talking about.

I wish as a step one they would institute an import function for previous year’s rosters only. Not even Franchise. Just a roster import.

This would allow the roster editors to easily and quickly release classic team rosters and current year as opposed to having to start from scratch each year.

I know players get additional attribute fields added each year. From a db point of view, they could just make those fields 0 or null and have the user edit them once the import process is completed.

Not sure what other technical challenges SDS has regarding a roster import function, but from a db management point of view they seem manageable. My guess is different platforms may be an issue, but that could be handled as well.

We did have that already. 19 & 20 (or maybe just 20, I'd have to fire them up to confirm)

Unless I'm mistaken; the only attribute added since the last cycle was catcher popup rating, which just happened this year.

The roster files are just data. Sets of data linked to other data.

If I have to change a bat type, or cleats, or skin/hair style, fine! Thats on me. Better than creating 2200+ players all over again.

Theres no reason roster files shouldn't port for most every release. If there really is a valid reason, I'd love to hear it stated for the record.
(not meant as a damning criticism, I honestly would like to hear the reason, right now, I'm just left to blame the yearly release cycle/lack of manpower)

And rosters all work across platforms, even dinosaur Switch. That speaks volumes.

I'm glad you mention a pop time rating for catchers. I swore back in February that would be a new attribute but I dont think I've seen it any so far. Maybe its like a qyirk type or similar?

I may have spoken out of turn.

I haven't purchased yet. I saw a graphic of C pop up time posted in the pre-release thread

Apparently it's too complicated. He said he sees no reason why user created retro rosters shouldn't port.

Instead of wasting time on retro rosters they should get Y2Y saves for default SDS in franchise.

I haven't purchased 25 yet either but this sounds familiar. Might have to go back and skim the gameplay stream later to see if I'm misremembering.

Do you mean default rosters should carry over each year?

I don't think that would really satisfy anyone....the reason people want custom rosters to carry over is so they don't have to start from scratch each year by recreating all their CAPs each year....if default rosters carry over that doesn't really do anyone any good
