Re: What are you working on thread

Sitting at 887. One more win and that useless Dave Parker card is mine!

But since I posted this before I played, it means I'll lose and be sub 800 by the end of tonight

Got it! Now I'm taking a break for a bit because the thought of mind-numbing grinding with inferior players does not appeal to me at the moment. Looking forward to blowing my stubs on a bunch of packs in a few weeks!!!

^5 minutes after that post was made, I made my lineups and rotations to finish grinding for Sabathia/Belle/Alomar....because I hate myself lol

Re: What are you working on thread

Thanks for the tips on saves guys.

Yes, was aware of the 3 inning outcome and have done that in the past. But am mainly playing conquest at the moment and when I do play the full games I'm usually trying to address the CG stats anyway.

So....basically....I can go ahead and score too much if I put my saves pitcher in while I only have a one or 2 run lead? ie. get a small lead first inning, put saves pitcher in, blowout the score in later innings but still get credit because saves guy came in when in a saves situation. Have I understood that correctly?

        Cheers

Re: What are you working on thread

Yea if you score a max of 3 in the first inning in a conquest game I would just put my save guy in after my starter faces the 1st batter. Then you finish the game with that save guy and it's a guaranteed save no matter the score. If you score more than 3 then make sure you put the starter in a position that if you bring in the save guy it's a save situation and just finish the game like this.

I might do 5 games here and there for Nen like this to chip away. Not going to sit there and play 15-20 at a time.

Nen and his 99-101 fastball still don't really force people to make bad swings. Pitch speed has really been catered to the lowest common denominator in this game.

Re: What are you working on thread

Finished up my 25 W's in the event and it only took 3 tries. I think my record this event was 25-3. I lost 3 on purpose just to end the runs. After I hit 20 I was 8-1 on that run but really didn't want to go for 12 so just quit out.

Reward at 20: 89 Corey Kluber

So by playing this event and my rewards I'd make 100k if I sold everything at a very reasonable price. Not bad at all!

Up to 850 in RS and I have a 9-4 record in July. My month started off 0-1 because I quit immediately vs an absolute cheese ball I had no desire to endure 9 innings with. He uses Steven Wright as a SP...I managed two singles in the top of the 1st but can't get the clutch hit to score. He then proceeds to bunt with Dee Gordon who is safe. He steals 2nd and then bunts for a base hit with Kyle Schwarber who somehow is safe. I got wonky animations on both bunt attempts. I just quit...he clearly wanted it way more.

If I make it to WS I'll probably get on the grind for Wager/Jackie. I'm close to Jackie and could easily be done in a couple hours. The Nen saves is going to be terrible. I think I have 3-4 with him now.

I must be mentally ill....despite my frustrations and anger at this game I can’t walk away for more than a day. I played the Orioles on rookie and put 32 hits 20 runs but Larkin who needs 2XBH 1HR 3RBI 3R and 2SB and Bench who needs 3H 3R 2HR 4RBI, both all in the same game went 2 for 7 and 2 for 6 respectively. I feel I will squeeze water from a rock before I ever complete these idiotic same game stats.

EDIT: since posting this I played Baltimore again...23 hits 20 R including 14 HRs but Larkin 2-6 and Bench 2-5.....lol

I fell like an abuse victim going back for more. Played another game 27 H 20 Runs but still can’t get the “Same Game” stats with Larkin and Bench. Incidentally I’ve completed the requirements with about 6 other players except Larkin 2 SB through these last 3 games.....

Re: What are you working on thread

I have a Daily Mission that's been in my list for weeks: Hit 3 HRs in a game with a Postseason series player.

I have 87 overall PS Paul Konerko, with his 86 Power vs. R and 110 Power vs. L. I have gotten 2 in a game a few times, but 3 seems out of the question.

The CPU must know, as they nibble the corners when facing him. In fact, I have drawn walks with him multiple times playing Vs. CPU games on Rookie. That doesn't happen to anyone else on my team.

Thankfully, the other stats I am getting with him count towards the Frank Thomas arc, so I'm fine with Konerko in my lineup. But it just bugs me that it seems like the CPU knows what my goals are with certain players, and adjusts the game to make it harder to complete them.

Re: What are you working on thread

Jumped back into RS this morning and it feels good to be back. The grinds have been insane and I just can't play the CPU on rookie anymore. It's rotting my brain.

Question for anyone with Diamond Nen...is he secretly kind of bad? Even against the CPU on Rookie/Veteran I feel like he's a little wild and he gets hit hard way more than he should with those per 9s. I've only pitched 10 innings with him, but I've given up 2 homers and several extra base hits to the gaps. I rarely ever give up runs against the CPU with any of my relievers, and he's the second highest rated one I have (behind Gagne). Early returns haven't been promising. Anyone use him online yet? I'm hoping he's better against human opponents.

Oh I believe 100% the game messes with you. In the first 2 at bats with Johnny Bench in my last gane I took care of everything he needed and just needed a solo HR to complete his ridiculous Same Game stats. I had 4 more at bats with him that game and hit 1 single 3 balls caught up against the wall.
I also need stats with CC Sabathia but in over 20 games he’s been selected to start just once. I had the same starter selected 7 games in a row recently.....notice it’s never a mission starter selected 2-3 times in a row..,

Decided Id give event one more shot for the diamond.

Sean rodriguez hits a pitch nearly over his head off the top of the wall for a double. Ozzie Albies then swings at a pitch that just about bounced and hits a little dribbler. My pitcher and then first baseman both decided to take their sweet old time throwing the ball and the kid scores from second. The gameplay in this game is a pile of ****.

I’m now just starting games on the road and if I don’t do amazing things in Larkins and Bench’s first at bat I’m quitting and starting over. Let me tell how fun this is but the same game stats are to insane to go 0-1 or just get a single with no RBI or Run scored. However it appears the game can detect this as well. 10 starts just 1 for 9 with a single for Larkin and 0 for 10 with Bench.

EDIT: another dozen plus startvand quits just a few singles here and there....no Runs no RBI. Since I can go 5 for 6 with everyone else I guess the game will decide when I can complete these missions

I do, but this one provides 500 XP and 500 stubs for completing, along with the daily card pack. So it seemed like one that would be worth the effort. Now, I don't care as much about the rewards, and since I've been trying this long to beat it, I figure I'll keep at it for my own pride!
