Well after the horrible year I posted earler I recovered. I got the starting RF back in AA and did well. I Got the call up to AAA about a week into the saeson I thought great here we go again, but alas I was on fire with a .368 average 3 HR 18 RBI I won the starting job and then right before the all-star game I pressed the X button too fast and didn't read the goal and did not attempt the take strike goal. Needless to say I got benched and I tried the interaction to get called up and they did. I was so shocked, I was pumped. I got my first hit in the majors the very first game, a hard hit grounder up the middle, for a single. I will say I was dancing in my game room like a idiot. I pinch hit for about two weeks with success then I used the get a start interaction and I got it. I went 3-4 with 2 RBI's and then after the game I got a email "I don't think you are ready to start but you have shown the abilty to play up here. You got one chance to show me what you got". I was floored. I played great untill the last 2 weeks of the season and I went into a slump but I still finished good .293 BA. The cardinals offered me around 2 million and AA starter which I do not understand. I just held out and they signed me for 1 year 330,000.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Just wondering what level you guys are playing on? I'm going back and forth with Veteran and All-Star with my SP pitcher. I've been traded twice - once from Texas to Balt and now I'm playing on the A's. I finished the 2011 season on the MLB squad with the A's as the number 3 starter but didn't have a good season (this was on All-Star level mostly until the last part of the season when I dropped down to Veteran) - I went 5-11 with a 5.88 ERA
So with that said - just wondering what level you guys are playing on in the RTTS mode....

I play on All-Star with a shortstop, although I dropped fielder reaction and speed down quite a bit to get more doubles.Just wondering what level you guys are playing on? I started a pitcher on All-Star as well, but only got about a month into my first season. Will probably continue that on All Star as well though soon.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Are any of you guys having success with the training side. I am doing ok but I cant keep up with the attributes that I am loosing. I have some things that are in the mid to low 20's and some that have fallen to the teen's. like my speed, bunting, clutch batting. i really don't agree with loosing your skills. I could see droping some but nothing past your original number.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I'm doing alright for training. The way I do it, is save all my Spring Training points, and then use them before the first game of the season to pass all of my advancement goals. Any extra points, I then use on stuff that will soon begin to decrease (3+ weeks since last trained). I check my stuff every couple of days to make sure nothing is decreasing (because once it starts, it decreases fast) but try to save as many points as possible for my next goal. Are any of you guys having success with the training side. At the start of my next advancement period, I do the same thing - so basically I pass my training advancement goals on the first day they're presented and use extra points for decreasing skills as they pop up. By passing my goals ASAP, I am able to still pass my advancement goals if I go through a prolonged slump in the middle of the year.
I also play all of my games. Every once and a while I sim ahead (near the end of a season usually) just to see what's in store for my player in the upcoming season and I notice that when I sim, I don't get enough points to maintain my skills.Comment

This is what I do as well...Pass them on the 1st day and keep a predetermined set amount of points so that I will have them for the next advancement period, and use the rest on wants and needs.I'm doing alright for training. Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
anybodys player getting less effective as their attributes go up? Ive been in the majors for going on 6 years now, had injuries in 3 of those seasons. my guys no longer hits for a high average and is barely getting any home runs despite being a top ranked player in the league. I have even had to bump up sliders as Ive gone along due to this after having a 34 hr 119 rbi season with the sliders near 0. even with them set back to default Im only hitting right around 300 after never having a healthy season below 340, and Im hitting fastballs down the middle for choppers on the infield its crazy. do you think the injuries could have affected things?Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I just finished my 4th season and I noticed something. Every year since year 2, there have been at least three teams finishing with 110+ wins. Anyone else see this? I'm hoping it's an aberration and will probably sim some seasons under a new save to see.A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I haven't seen too many
2012 the Cubs had 103 wins and the Yankees had 102 - only 100+ teams
2013, the Red Sox are 100 - 38 (on pace for 117 wins)
There are some stacked teams though.
The Phillies lineup is:
Howard, Utley, Rollins, Rookie (B prospect) at 3B, Holliday, Victorino, Ichiro, Chris Snyder. Not bad.
Pitchers: Brandon Webb, Justin Duchscherer, Kazmir, Brett Myers, Kelvin Escobar, Cliff Lee, Joe Blanton (6A's and 1 B, all in MLB)
The Red Sox:
Josh Bard, Youk and Ortiz, Pedroia, Christian Guzman, Rookie (A prospect) at 3b - hitting 315 w 26 HR and 112RBI, Bay, Ellsbury, and Ordonez in the OF
Pitchers: Hamels, Lester, Greinke, Matsuzaka, Tim Hudson, Brad Penny,Clay Bucholz (5A's and 2B in MLB)
Those are some ridiculous teams.
Yankees, Mets and Cubs aren't too far behind and the Giants have a sick pithing staff too.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I know this does not make sense, but I wish I could play my RTTS player, with his attributes up and ready to make an impact, in today's MLB.
When you're ready to rip up the league, the rosters are so jumbled up and some stars are retired. I know it makes complete sense, but sometimes I'd just like to see how my character would do in say, 2009.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
BAT SPEED QUESTION!
I play on HOF (for RTTS and Franchise/Regular Play Mode)
In my season mode, i can pull fastballs no problem, BAT SPEED IS WAY FASTER with the hitters I have.
In RTTS, my hitter has TERRIBLE BAT SPEED. i foul heaters off nearly every time, sometimes i push them to right but its still because im late.
*I've heard Contact determines the quality of the hit
*I've heard Discipline determines the ability to check bad pitches easier
*I've heard the Vision determines the ability to make contact with pitches out of the zone, etc.
... So what improves timing?Comment
