Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

Well after hitting rock bottom, going from MLB starter to AA starter, I have finally come back to life. I managed to find my swing again in AA and I started smoking the ball again. I batted .453 with 3 hr and 16 RBI in my last month. I didn' meet any goals cause I was to busy stopping my guys attributes from plunging to near putrid area. I was in such a slump that every category was declining. I managed to reverse it and get a lot of my rankings back up. I made the September call up and I have got a few starts and a few pinch hit at bats. Best of all I have brought my avg. from the low .200s to around .250. My year may not end up so bad and maybe I can have a hell of a spring again and prove my worth to the league.

Another question for you rtts guys. (hope you dont mind) When I am training my guys speed the other attribute that is affected is base running ability, does this affect the speed in the outfield? I have noticed a difference when I am on the base path but it seems that my speed when I am going for fly balls is the same.

I got the win and the season is off to a great start! Hopefully it continues for the rest of the year. Here is a picture of me delivering the first pitch of the 2012 season.
Congrats on the win! And good luck with the rest of the season. I've been so busy I haven't had the chance to work with my pitcher, time to get to work!

yes it does, my last cf was a freak of nature. I finally got his speed up to 90 and he's a blur, finally catching up to those low line drives

Started the day around the all-star break with 5 HR, hit 7 HR in 2 weeks with 2 in NY and 3 in Ana(2 off E.Santana) and I finally hit a HR(2 now) at home(Min). Didn't get traded despite being on the block. Is it just me or does getting a hit with men on harder when getting RBIs is in the accomplishments?

I was hitting .261 in AA for the Rockies (first time ever playing the MLB the Show series so it took me awhile to figure things out), then got promoted to AAA because of injuries and was hitting .350 and now it is the next year and I make the team after spring training. The only bad thing is I am a utility player and I rarely get to play, I get like 1-3 AB every week and I get like 2 starts a month and it is getting pretty damn impossible to keep my ratings up and if it weren't for batting practice everything would be in the decline, anyone have any tips on how I can get more playing time or even get back to AAA? At least I got more playing time in AAA where I could develop my ratings instead of declining and rarely being used in the Majors.

You may have the option to ask for more playing time under "Interactions".

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread

Ok i am in 2012 still in the Cardinals farm system. In 2009 I was in the AA allstar game batting .302 with 7 HR 40 RBI's. Shortly after that I was called up to AAA and did well batting .318 in the short while I was there. The next year, 2010 I started the entire year in RF .283 9 HR 40 something RBI's, not great but I was solid. In 2011 I started in the AA. The first 4-5 games was good for me, then I was called up to AAA and a utility/bench player. I started off slow and never recovered. The entire year I was in a slump no matter what I did I couldn't buy a hit. I had a .256 BA 1 HR (that I hit in the very first game in AAA) and like 14 RBI's. I even droped down to rookie diff., and I maxed out all the hitting sliders in desperation. Because of my slump I was benched and I was never given a chance to do much of anything. This year I am starting in AA but after last season and not being able to get training points my player has lost so many attributes it is just stupid. I know that getting to the show is not easy but the training points need to be a little more forgiving, and there should be a little more control over my player. I understand that the RTTS is trying to be sim but if my player is not given the chances to get better and gain training points, some of the interactions should work better. I was hounding the manager for starts, playing time, and to be traded and nothing helped. Every advancement peroid I failed my goals because of not having the training points to train. A player with "A" potiental should not loose so many points during the season, the only attributes I could help was during batting practice. Another thing is in the 3 seasons that I have played I have never had the base running option it is always batting practice. So off the top of my head my speed is like a 23 and base running is like 16, my fielding and ractionn time has dropped to mid 20's. All of this being said I am having a blast but I am very aggitated at the training/goal system in this game mode, and someting needs to be done about it. I dont mind playing in the minors for 4-5 seasons but it needs to be worth it.

It would be cool to be able to spend some of the money you make for extra practice time or equipment....that would certainly help with the struggles in the minors.

As to your post, what I found helpful for me was to create a pitcher in RTTS and start using him for a while then switching back to my hitter...it helped me recover from my hitting slump.

Another thing, the goals during the game should be an situational bonus, not a penalty when not done. Training points are hard enough to come by. Do not take away my training points when I can't "take a strike" when the pitcher throws me 4 straight balls and I get on base. Does anyone else notice that when a goal situation comes up it gets a lot harder to meet the goal. When I am up to bat and it says swing away I have good at bats.

Hey guys. Real cool reading about this. Well, Im a pitcher for the Cardinals in 2012. Was drafted by the White Sox, and traded to St. Louis in 2011. I finished the year as a LRP, going 2-0 with a 1.53 E.R.A. I'm now in 2012, just signed a 4 year, 4 million dollar contract, a the number 4 starter. Our team is doing very good.... but we traded Albert Puljous for Prince Fielder!!! Seriously? ughhh... but were 13-6, and I'm 2-0 with a 2.87 E.R.A. I'm t icked about my 4 year deal though, as i shouldve just took a 1 year deal, cause after this year im gonna be looking for big money. Daang.... But I'm the 67th pitcher in the leauge, out of about 165... not bad. 4th best on our team, ille update later. also, when am I elligible for the rule 5 draft? thanks!

If you're on the 40-man you're not eligible for the rule 5.

It is quite a funny experience when your guy is offered a contract and you're thinking "dude, I actually make more than that, how sad is that?"

No, I don't make a whole lot -- that's how bad the offer was.
