yeah after you give up a home run you definitely cant just launch a few pitches to the next batter and expect to get him out. you have to focus again and set the batter up. in my opinion that just realistic. its definitely the mindset you have to have as a pitcher in real life. if you go 3 at-bats without focusing on what youre doing, youre likely to give up a few runs.

guess the original poster should just step his game up.

Running my test now still. in season mode this time. Im up 10-0 to start goin into 6th inning, still holding at 10-0. Really dont think anything is there. game is just not easy! realy pay anttention, and focus on pitching.

I am so glad you are coming these conclusions on this sooner, rather than later. Now you can actually wipe your mind, and enjoy the best damn baseball game in years, and possibly ever. And not dwell on things, and have a whole season of trying to find what isn't there, and not enjoy this awesome game at all.

I have been there once or twice with some games and I kicked myself for it.

The faster people are over this, the great gem they will have laying before them.

I'm not saying he isn't a good pitcher, especially when he is healthy. I love JZ and the Tigs... I am just making the correlation of his struggles over the last season or so (along with the staff as the whole), and how it is reflected in the game (he is hard as hell to pitch with, for me at least) - as a result most of the comebacks (4) I have had against me were with JZ on the hill.

Disclaimer (somewhat back on-topic): I ended up winning a few of the games still, so I would say there is no comeback code.

Alright, I misinterpreted what you meant, sorry about that. Let's hope the pitching staff can turn it around this year.

Art1bk, I have only read the first page and the reason you're getting flamed is because the intelligent/veteran posters on this board saw this coming a mile away.

You just waited until, what you thought, was the right time to bash this game. It was inevitable.

When there is already a topic on it, and many people who said there was comeback AI have since not seen it, and the devs have said that is it is not in the game, yes, I'd say this is unwarranted bashing.

Haven't read the whole thread, so apologies if my comments are out of place.

But comebacks in baseball? No way! I never see that happen in real life! Do YOU ever come back against the CPU? Is that an example of Human Comeback Code? Could it be that your bullpen just sucks? No?

OR, do you fail to adjust your approach to hitters the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time through the order? Hmm, am I on to something here? Major League Baseball players are in the league for a reason. Even in real life, they adjust. If you take the same ole tired approach to every batter, every inning, every game, they are going to adjust, and you are going to pay. You have to be just as adaptable as your opponent. That's called strategy. It's called 'baseball'. Obviously, I don't *watch* any of you play, so I'm not pretending to know what you are doing right and wrong. I'm just presenting a scenario that makes a little more sense than accusing the game of a comeback code when the devs said it most certainly doesn't exist (unless you turn it on). Food for thought.

How about bringing in someone fresh from the bullpen instead of forcing an ace to pitch through the late innings. The more tired a pitcher gets, the less effective his pitches are. It doesn't matter if his name is Homer or CC.

Her's my issue...None of this makes any sense...lol. Here's why (and fair warning...this is likely to run long...It's me...get used to it)

Comeback "code" was never put into the game at all..not even as an option. People who keep going back to the "well, maybe the option is glitched" line of thinking are failing to remember (it seems, anyway) that all it is is a slight ratings boost to the team's player atrributes that is down.

This means you can still override it with good play...which also means (sorry to say) that it would still come down to a user deficiency even if the options were switched.

Now, ironically enough (since he's been accused of nearly every indiscretion possible on these forums...lol) baa is likely the only one who made a rational argument for any existence of something screwy with the AI in these situations.

IF there is something, it's likely a miscue that wasn't caught. Given the precise nature of Brian Ma's approach, any miscue would likely be subtle and therefore not necessarily "in your face" in terms of occurance. To further that, ratings and confidence issues could also play into that as well, being that they may not play off eachother correctly allowing for "holes" in play.

My trouble with this (and why it doesn't hold water IMO) is that why would these inconsistencies appear in only lead change situations? I don't believe they program the game on an inning by inning basis...lol.

So maybe (again, going by this theory) it's always there, but people are noticing these anomalies in late innings/tight situations because that's when they would most obviously seem to impact the outcome of the game. This would alos mean (IMO) that it's not outside the user's control either...lol.

Anyway, these pet theories aside, the lack of consistency in these scenerios should be telling IMO. There was another comment made (can't for the life of me remember who made it) that kind of got overlooked:

"If you're looking for it, you'll probabaly see it."

Meaning, that if you go into a game with the mindset that it's there, you're more apt to notice "suspicious" occurances. I'm sure the arguemnt can be made conversly too. The difference IMO, at least to this point, is only one side has been supported by facts

Not saying it's impossible that something might be off in the tuning to get a challenging game (I mean...will anyone EVER agree on what "realistic" challenge is?...lol). I just don't see how it can be attributed to "comeback code" based on what's been presented.

my last 4 season test games :

win 4-2
win 6-3
lost 5-1
won 7-3

none of these games exhibit any counter runs by the cpu when we just scored a run, or the magic late inning comeback described by some.

the last game for example

jumped out to 2-0 lead bottom 1st

added 2 more bottom of 4th ...4-0

the cpu got one run back top of the 5th 4-1

I 'countered AI' with a run in the bot 5th 5-1

top of 7th the cpu got 2 back 5-3

I got 2 in the bottom of 8 7-3

and madson got the job done for the last 2 innings hitless innings

i finished with 8 hits cpu with 7 .....

felt exactly like exhibition mode

Post all the good but how dare you bash this game by posting something anything negative. I've said many positive things about this game and i play this game nonstop but the moment a person says anything wrong. There comes the righteous SCEA faith members to the rescue

Yeah bro. Last year i use to play on HOF but this year i'm playing on allpro so far. I tried HOF a few times as well.

I'm not seeing this on All-Star.

I would stick strictly on All-Star. If you're playing with the Yankees, I'd expect to win more than a handful of games.

Stay with one difficulty (again, AS), play about 20 games, then report back.

Also, make sure you're not bringing in the same guys game after game. There is progressive fatigue. And don't always use full strength on the pitch meter. Vary it up some.

I never thought I would agree with a SoxFan but we see eye to eye on this. Like you said, If you're looking for it, you'll probabaly see it. THat is why I stayed away from the Bug/Glitches thread.
