Great thread folks........love OS for all the tips and discussion around what I think is a great great game.......Had to chuckle a bit as a I try to catch up with this thread and read the above post. I had a similar experience......figured I'd try a game with it "ON"....I'm Bos, CPU is Balt, start of their four game set mid-April (restarted my 'chise with Knight's 40-40 rosters......thanks Knight!!!). Anyway, game 1, I got SMOKED! 12-1. Balt scored 12 on 14 hits. I had 1 run on something like 5 hits and that was on a Bay solo shot, playing on essentially default HOF. I've never been blown out before, nor have I won by more than 4 runs in about 50 or so games played. So, switched it "OFF". Lost the next game 2-1 in 12 innings then won the third game 2-1 on a walkoff single in the 9th. Both the CPU and I were held under 10 hits apiece in both games.........I know, I know, one game does not a trend make...........fun discussion tho.......thanks again OS community.......I love this game........can't wait to play game four tonight, maybe I'll flip it back "ON" just to see what happens......although I admit I am a bit scared!

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

I see an odd trend happening now.
Since switching this to ON, I blew out the Angels in my 1st 2 games, and have since lost 6 in a row, and was not in any game.
One game I didn't have a hit until the 7th against Beckett (lost 8-1) and then 2 games later against Shields of TB I didn't even get a baserunner until the 7th when he hit Texiera. Oddly enough he was taken out of the game after that. I lost that game 7-0, after giving up a run in the 1st w/2 outs. This following the first 2 hitters looking silly, and then another 2 out rally in the 2nd capped off by a grand slam by Burrell.
Seems the CPU likes to score early in games now as my pitcher tries to find his stuff. All they really need to do, however, to find their stuff is look far beyond the outfield fences, since that's where a lot of their pitches are ending up.

I gave it a try! I don't see how it helps me. I did a couple of tests to check. 2 games in a row I made it(switched back and forth) so 1 team would be leading by atleast 3 runs with 2 outs in either 8th or 9th innings. I would then take over control of the team leading and to my amazement the cpu would come back both games!! It was insane, balls going off of Tex's glove! Walks were the ball would just go right down the middle etc...It was enough for me to switch back that is for sure. I hope it is really working for those using it on, just not for me I guess.

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

I previously stated that I believe it needs to be ON, as Davewins has proposed.

If there is one aspect of the game where I find it to be more pronounced, its with the dominant closers.

If you use a team with a dominant closer you should rightly expect to close out way more games than you blow.

When I had the option at default, OFF, I was regularly having dominant closers battered, and not by big names either. I was frustrated because I didn't feel the closer was a fair representation of what he was in real life.

So, when Dave proposed this, my interest was purely centered on the closers and how they would perform.

Finally, Marmol (although its being reported Gregg has won the closer role), Valverde, FRod, Lidge, and others actually felt like the dominant closers they are. Not that I didn't blow a save or two because I did, but the feel was like night and day overall.

kind of like my last game where Nathan put down the White Sox 1-2-3 in the 9th. A closer getting battered around should definitely be the exception not the rule, lol.

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

The comeback option is definitely broken. I turned it on and won 10-1 during my first game. Before that, I had lost 10 in a row with the option set to off.

Sony needs to fix this. My wife even noticed that the CPU would never score until I did. She said that it appeared they were cheating. If she notices it, it has to be there.

Why in the world would their be an option for this anyway? Why fix something that isn't broken. Too much tinkering.

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

The biggest annoyance with this glitch is the "errors". Like yesterday I'm playing a game, up by 3 runs, 1 out. Man on first. I get a ground ball to short, should be easy double play to get out of the inning. Yet it goes into the "stumbling to backhand the grounder, but just miss it" animation, despite it being in routine range and not a hard play at all. Then it isn't charged as an error, but it recorded as a basehit. So it's as if your pitcher is blowing the game. Even if you get the hitter to hit a ground ball, your fielders blow the play, and then it's magically not charged as an error.

I could understand it happening now and then, I would even welcome it as it would add to the realism. But it only happens when you take a lead and it's late innings. I can't believe this error glitch is still in the game, it's been there for years now. It's like two glitches in one, since it supports the comeback glitch as well.

Fix this **** already please, it's ruining the game. I like the idea that it's competitive, but it's competitive in an unfair way. I don't feel like I'm playing a good baseball team fighting back, I feel like I'm playing a glitchy AI and there's nothing at all I can do to compete with them, since they just come right back.

This doesn't even need to be 100% fixed. Just make it more balanced and it would be fine.

                      pretty funny....

i agree with the fixing something that ain't broken. Just has a chance to complicate things like it did this year.

Which level are you playing on as i'm trying to figure out if this is limited to Legend or maybe just more noticeable on that level.

The more i play with it ON and OFF (i.e. testing both) the more i feel (for me at least) its not "broken" or reversed, im winning games i should now with it off, i think it was just a matter of patience and playing better, i just won 6-0 and the CPU showed no sign of coming back whatsoever with it OFF, i pitched very well and got what i deserved, a thumping win.

For me its now OFF and will stay off, the conspiracy for me is over.

I do however see this thread running from now to eternity

The funny thing is if you never turn it on in the game it basically doesn't exist. Brian putting this feature in the game had no effect on any other part of the batter vs. pitcher battles.
