You can only choose season length in season mode. Franchise is the full 162 only.

I play the Twins and Cubs franchises. I do sim part of the season, but never sim an inning when I play.

You can shorten your franchise season by simply simming games to 'modify' the 162 game schedule. Plus you get the benefit of having full season stats.

I'm with you on this, I would love to play all 162 games, but I want to get through multiple franchise seasons so I play one game, then sim five games then play another. That way I pitch with each of my five starters in order. Works out to about 27 games per season and gives you 5-6 starts with each pitchers.

I'm with you on this, I would love to play all 162 games, but I want to get through multiple franchise seasons so I play one game, then sim five games then play another. I do the same thing, but I play the first five games so I get the first start of the year with each pitcher, then roll with the 5 game sim. Works great, and I only intervene if the pitcher slated to pitch is undefeated. Then I make sure I throw him, and try to keep it going for him. I had Beckett start out 6-0 last year, then the train flew off the mountain and he turned cold on me.

Speaking of that, any tips on how to get a cold pitcher back on track? Man, you do NOT want to face a heavy line up with a guy in a cold streak. He gets crushed. Simming seems to help sometimes because the CPU will snap him out of it, but boy when it goes bad, it is bad.

On a side note, the All-Star break will cure any cold streaks for your pitchers, and you get to kind of start the second half fresh.

This truly sucks. You see i dont want any of my games to be simmed, I want to play every game, I just want to have less games to be played so i actually build and play a franchise and not just 1 year. God i wanted this game so bad, but i might actually have to get *shivers* 2K10.
Why cant they add this simplest of features? Jesus I bought a PS3 for 2 reasons:
1. Blu-ray
2. I want to play a GOOD baseball game, ala The Show

I would most definitely sacrifice playing every game and sim some in order to play the superior game, but maybe that's just me.

My point is I bought the PS3 to play the superior Show, and this simple, yet missing feature (its not even a feature its a customization option for goodness sake) is very important to me.

I dont know what to do. Whats the point of superior game play if I dont play all my games (i feel it defeats the the whole point building my franchise if i have limited control)? Whats the point of building your franchise if the game play sucks? lose, lose. I iz sad....

Season mode let's you shorten the season. Franchise has specific dates for rule 5 picks, waivers, etc so I don't know how it would work for a shortened season. Either way, I wouldn't let this keep you from getting the game

if I'm not mistaken, season mode allows you to play mulitple seasons much like a franchise mode, but doesn't have all the bells and whistles.

In season mode, you can shorten the season length.

Exactly! I usually play season mode so I don't have to mess with stupid stuff like hot dog prices and whether my team takes a water taxi to the next game. And if I'm not mistaken you still get things like drafts and rule 5. It's really just a simplified franchise mode.

Are you serious? I thought season mode was just 1 season. You may have turned my frown upside down... how much do you lose from franchise? I dont care about ticket prices and stuff like that. Just the ability to manage my team (minor leagues, draft, stuff like that).

Oh that is the thing, you don't get access to minor leagues in Season, only 40 man roster. Thought it was one season too, but stand corrected.

I would say well it's okay you cant always get what you want... except its a video game, not life, so i should get what i want. but i suppose i would much rather deal without minors and play the Show instead of 2K.

what else do you lose from franchise mode?
