The problem is that as human beings, we tie things to player's names. We see the name "Todd Helton" and we immediately think of his place in the lineups that we've seen in real-life before and that's it. Our brains completely disregard ratings and stats, and other items which computers use to evaluate a player.

To the CPU, Todd Helton is just player x36549789 and the CPU has to be programmed to set up a lineup based upon the player statistics and attributes only. NOT according to some non-quantifiable characteristic.

If the SCEA guys were to program the lineups to be set in a certain manner, then as the years progress or players get hurt, the CPU would not have the ability to alter the lineups properly, and you'd suddenly see a power slugging lead-off hitter because the guy he replaced was a quick, high OBP guy.

I am actually quite happy with how SCEA has this set-up where the CPU will set its lineups based upon the player stats and attributes. As you go further and further along in a career, the names of the players become 100% meaningless because all the players are made-up. So you no longer have the "But so-and-so always bats 3rd" recollections in your head.

SCEA can either opt to make the lineups accurate for the first couple of seasons for real-roster setups, or they can opt to make it accurate for the the last dozen seasons or so and for fantasy rosters of made-up players while giving an option to the player for working around some "line-up" differences.

This will work great for those that have the Helton lead off issue. Win/Win.

Yes that would be a good trophy. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of trophies will be in this year!

        Quick questions regarding contracts

I am super excited with all the editing and input we have for franchise this year and believe I have read this before. However, to make sure, do we have the ability to edit contracts salary and year wise?

No. The MLBPA does not allow that and would take legal action against SCEA if they were to put that in the game.

It's still going to be a great game, so no worries.

I want to thank all of you guys for doing what you do..this is amazing. I played the 09 version at a friends house 2 months ago and was blown away..I didn't buy it because I knew the next version was coming out..I am pumped for March 2nd. I think it is incredible how this company actually listens to what the fans want..what a concept..seems like common sense but then again most companies do not do that

                  Knight,

Forgive me if this is in the wrong thread but I was looking through the boards and saw that you are the master of creating legendary rosters..I am a 35 year old baseball historian nerd..I am really interested but can you direct me as to where I can download these rosters and where exactly I can find a "how to" guide of getting them in the game? I am a die hard Red Sox fan and would love to play ball with the 1946 Red Sox...I know you were taking requests and wasn't sure if this was one of the teams..once again sorry if this is off topic. Thanks again though for all the work you do. Can't wait for March 2nd

                      Thanks Fenway.
                      There are two ways actually.
In each thread I have in the ROSTER section(above this main section), I put in links to download the files to a USB drive(those little thumb drives...like this...
..get the cheapest one possible.....they all do the job.
That is how I usually put my "updates"....(each team as it gets completed....for guys to check them out as I go along)
However, once the set is complete...I put them in the ROSTER VAULT.
(you need to be hooked up to the internet for this)
When you are in the game...go to SPORTSCONNECT....then go to the ROSTER VAULT.
My two files for classic sets are CLASSIC TEAMS I and CLASSIC TEAMS II.(I'm pretty sure someone upload II to the vault...even though it was only 2/3 complete).
I have the '75 Red Sox in those sets....but will be doing a different squad this year for sure.

                      Hope this helps.

                      M.K.

Perfect! I appreciate your reply and it sounds simple enough..The 1975 Sox will be fun..Jim Rice was my first favorite player but since I know you take requests I would love a 1946 Red Sox squad to tak eup against some of those great Yankee teams. Thanks again and have a great weekend

Maybe someone can answer this... I know current jerseys must follow the style guide, but what about throwbacks? Can SCEA only put throwbacks in that are in the style guide? Are there even throwbacks in the style guide?

                            Thanks

I don't think there is anything in regards to throwbacks.
Perhaps permission from the teams...but that might be about it.

ShowTyme....I think it might be a blank hat this year. Not sure.
