So I can't hit to save my life in online mode. My avg is .196 right now. My last 2 games I was shutout and my last game went into 14 innings. It seems pitching dominates online mode. Because if there is any lag at all it can make hitting horrible. Everytime I swing and miss it says I was too late even on off-speed pitches.

And people myself included can place pitches where it is nearly impossible to hit. My ERA is 2.01 yet I'm 1-5 in online modes. I think they should make pitching tougher in online because so far in all my games every SP, Reliver has pitched like a Cy Young Winner.

Any tips on hitting in online? I hit fine in offline modes it just seems online my timing is way off.

Yea it took me awhile to get used to the lag of online in terms of hitting. Around the 7th inning I was used to it, and got 4 hits in a 2 inning stretch. One being a homerun and was able to pull off the victory. While getting a shutout in the process.

Hopefully after a week or so the lag will be lessened.

Something else which I didn't even realize until around the 5th inning is the 'guess pitch' feature was turned on. I use 'no feedback' in my offline mode, so didn't even think to guess pitches playing online. Really helped..ha

I had a 14 inning game online and it was fine the entire game. I just wish there was a Headset only lobby, or atleast had a headset icon beside everyone in the lobby that has a headset.

Except for the lag, when you threw a wild pitch with Marmol to me and I scored on the wild pitch

IS THE LAG AND FREEZING GOING TO BE FIXED OR WHAT? I haven't seen anyone talk about this. It's annoying as h*ll..

So the verdict is online is actually laggy eh? Well that's terrible, i was hopeful SCEA had fixed this.

It's laggy. I don't know if I'll ever be able to play this game online, because any lag at all completely throws off my hitting.

I'm starting to think most of the lag issues have to do with your local ISP. I played over 400 online games last year and I would say 70% of them were played lag-free.

Now, the first 2 nights I've played this game...there was a slight delay that would effect pitching and also hitting. I'm talking about playing around 7pm-10pm which is prime time for heavy internet use around my neighborhood. I called Time Warner, who is my ISP, and the whole neighborhood routing is kind of screwy. They couldn't explain or fix the problem but basically, the more the users, the slower my internet is going to be. I live in NYC so there's no such thing as having your own dedicated line in apartments.

I played 2 games this morning and it was 100% lag free and I was finally hitting the ball. No delays or lag spikes whatsoever and it was very enjoyable.

Also, since this is a P2P system...both ISPs need to have a solid connection in order to have a lag free game. You could be playing from a T1 line while your opponent is on a 4 person DSL connection and you guys would for sure lag if it was unstable.

There definitely is lag. Makes both pitching and hitting dang near impossible. May be a bit better than last year but its stuttering constantly. The worst part is it always says great connection but sucks. I am so dissapointed. Also why can't u change camera views online. I don't get it. There should be a behind pitcher view for pitching and a better view for hitting. There's no way to tell if a pitch is high or low with current camera. Horrible. I'm actually gonna but the other game to see if its better. I only play online and this is damn frustrating. When u actually hit the ball it looks like its already past you even in the replay. Horrible. For offline the shows better I'm sure but online still sucks.

Oh wow ojperez_22, that's what it did last year that I hated, when you were the pitcher and would throw what you thought was a clean strike, then after the the ball is past the bat then all of a sudden you hear the ball get hit and drove to the outfield...ugh..that was the WORST!

better than last year, but still a bit laggy here and there. You can still play but it does detract from the experience. I'll stick with NHL 10 online where it's almost totally butter, maybe play a few MLB 10 games online, but mostly single player as online is still not where I like it to be.

Yeah its hit or miss. My first online game was perfect no lag at all. Felt just like an off-line game. Now every game has been getting worse. As of last night it felt just like 09' online which is bad.

Baseball is a sport where timing is so critical and even the smallest lag can throw off hitting and pitching. It really makes it unplayable. Like I said earlier in all my games pitching has dominated for both teams.

Ive played 17 online games im 11-6 and there is little to no lag. I dont know what you guys expect, but its pretty darn seamless the whole time. Only bugs i get arethe intentional walk bug.

As for hitting online, its less about following the ball with eyes, but watching pitcher tendencies and what they do. If their outpitch is a high fastball you gotta sit on that, jus get in their head its very much a cat and mouse game.

Also online i know its fun to use aces every time, but if i choose pirates or padres id rather not face webb,carpenter, or any plethora of aces that can get away with anything.

Online is very playable and enjoyable, you guys are missing out the graphics are improved ten-fold and its just a good strategy game out there, if you can wait out the dirt balls and sit on a fastball you will hammer it.
