CPU Trades in Franchise Mode - Can I Prevent Them?

Hi guys, I expect this has probably been asked and answered before, but I can't find the answer to this question:

Is there a way to stop the CPU making trades in my Franchise mode? That DOES NOT involve me having to take 30 team control etc.

I just want the teams to stay as they are in reality. For example, on my Indians franchise, the Red Sox traded Big Papi and Mike Lowell to the Reds for some prospect. Now I don't want this to happen, as when I travel to Fenway I want to face the real Red Sox complete with David Ortiz.

    So yeah, can anyone help?

Well there is a bit of a work around here. If I understand correctly, you are playing 1 team control, yes? If so, what you do is play your game, then save (oh yeah, make sure it is on manual save not auto). After you save it, sim ahead to the next day. Check out the league roundup. If there are any trades you dislike, reload and repeat the sim to next day. I have never seen a time where the trade was the same using this method. I have seen the same player traded to different teams on two separate tries. I think this is your best way to keep trades that you don't want to happen, yet still have trades in your franchise while using 1 team control.

        Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

Trade deadline came and went with no other moves from us. I think we are set for the rest of the season, or at least I really hope we are. One thing that I noticed after the deadline is that there weren't any really spectacular players put through post deadline waivers. I think Griffey was perhaps the best player on the list. Last year pretty much every team had a top tier player they tried to pass through waivers. It is weird, but the second season seems to have ironed out many of the issues people have mentioned with the first season.

        Examples:
Players are picked up from FA during season two (at least one anyway, but he was the highest rated), where as all I ever saw the first season were the crappy players that were released the same day.

The amount of trades is greatly diminished the second season. There were still quite a few trades in mid May, but then they stopped for the most part until mid to end of July.

Not just the amount, but also the types of trades were more intelligent IMO, especially in July. Seller teams were giving up large contracts for prospects. I also noticed that teams like the Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers really tried to improve their teams with trades and off season FA period, where teams like the Pirates just dumped contracts and didn't try to get better.

I also noticed teams using talent above position labeling. What I mean is that players that had secondary positions were being used in those positions if they were better players than other players that had primary positions.

I am sure there are a lot more items, but that is all I can think of at the moment.

I'm curious....why the aversion to 30 team control?

For me, the draft is a big one. Rule 5 draft falls into this as well. Also having to deal with every team's emails. I also feel that the trades are more frequent and much closer to the "ridiculous" with 30 team control versus 1 team control. My theory behind this is that you get to see every trade proposal, whereas you only get to see the actual trades in one team. It is quite possible that some of these trade proposals are turned down by the CPU in 1 team control, and thus never seen by the user.

I think 30 team control is a fantastic option to have. For me though, I just want to focus all of my energy on my team and let the other teams do their thing. I really don't want to have to deal with anything for other teams.

Got offered an odd trade. the Mets offered me, A potential LF Fernando Martinez, A potential RP Jenrry Mejia, and F potential Jesus Feliciano for D potential 3B Junior Lake.

They kind of were ripping themselves off there.

Perhaps and perhaps not. I don't know any of those players so I can't speak for certain about this specific trade. In my A's franchise, I have a ton of A potential pitchers that may not see the bigs until they are in their 30's because they started off with a low overall rating. They would have to progress 10+ a year for at least 4 years just to be as good as my #5 pitcher, and a few of these guys are already 25 or older. Potential isn't everything. I would rather have Bonderman's F potential in my rotation than one of these guys' A potential (indeed that is exactly what I have). Eventually, the A potential pitcher will probably be better, but that doesn't help me win the division now.

Plus it's the Mets so anything goes there (sorry Knight)

I checked the Mets third base situation, there were no injuries, odd they'd want a 20 year old third baseman. The two A potential guys are 21 for Martinez and 20 for the RP, and Feliciano is 31 year old outfielder who I dropped off my team. The RP is the 5th best rated RP on my team, and Martinez is the 5th best rated outfielder in the my bunch. By ratings, they both seem major league ready. Martinez has experience, and was in AAA, and the RP Mejia had a 2.92 in AAA. I'll probably throw Martinez on the block, and try to get 2 prospects at different position where I don't have quite a quality of prospect like catcher or first base.

I am in my Mariner franchise and am struggling with getting runs. Jose Lopez is htting .111. I think I am going to trade Fister and Carlos Carrasco (who I acquired from the Indians) and someone else not sure who yet for Brandon Webb and Mark Reynolds. This will give me good power and a descecnt #2 to go behind Hernandez. I want Upton but I cant get him to save my life. My Mariners are 5-7 so far this year.

                      Re: Fair Trades or Not?

This is a 3 team trade 8 player deal that i did....

Ok guys, so I am currently in a 30 team franchise, but the only team that I am controlling are the Yankees. I was a little disappointed that MLB '10 doesnt have a way to make multi-team deals, so I did the next best thing.

Although I have ALL transaction set to CPU for the other 29 teams, I can still go in and force them to make trades, so what I did was go through the other teams roster and see what it would take to get Cliff Lee to a team other than the Yankees.

For me to consider this trade fair I made sure the interest bar was maxed out to ensure that the trade would go through. Then when I found out what player(s) the Mariners would trade Cliff Lee for and I then try to put a package together for that player, but going to the Yankees, and once that player was on the Yankees, then I would offer that player to the Mariners in exchange for Cliff Lee since I knew they would agree to trade for him....follow me so far?

OK, so the player that the Mariners would trade for was Grady Sizemore, so I had to find a way to get Sizemore from the Indians to the Yankees which was difficult but this is what I came up with.

I had sent Nick Johnson to Blue Jays for Lyle Overbay, so once Overbay was on Yankees I offered the Indians Lyle Overbay (1B), Boone Logan (RP), Javy Vazquez (SP) in exchange for Grady Sizemore (CF), Fausto Carmona (SP), Rafael Perez (RP). Once that trade was done, I now had to get Cliff Lee from the Mariners to Yankees.

So the Mariners recieved: Fausto Carmona (SP), Grady Sizemore (CF) in exchange for Cliff Lee.

Now the Indians are left with no CF so I then traded Boone Logan (RP) who is now in the Indians for Franklin Guiterriez. This was an unbalanced trade, but since you can only trade 3 players at 1 time I went back and forced this trade, but in reality its part of this entire shuffle.

So to recap this is what it looks like:

                      Yankees get:

                      Cliff Lee (SP)
                      Rafael Perez (RP)

                      Mariners get:
                      Grady Sizemore (CF)
                      Fausto Carmona (SP)
                      Boone Logan (RP)

                      Indians get:

                      Javier Vazquez (SP)
                      Lyle Overbay (1B)
                      Franklin Gutierrez (CF)

I basically want to know if you guys think this was fair to the CPU? Not for the Yankees but the CPU. I am happy with what my team got obviously but I dont want to screw CPU. Remember the only team I control are the Yankees. I also made sure that the teams would accept similar trades when only 2 teams were involved. I basically looked at it from all angles to see if the teams would accept trades.

Indians get hosed in that trade. They give up their best player, arguably their best pitcher, and one of their best guys out of the pen for a 35 year old starter, a 34 year old 1B, and a centerfielder they traded away a couple years ago because they had Sizemore. Indians are a rebuilding team, there's no way they trade their young guys for old guys in this trade.

If the Indians ever trade Fausto/Sizemore its going to be for prospects.

I want to make it even...so should I send Fausto back to Indians for Vazquez? Or Sizemore back for Gutierrez?

Basically, which of the two would it make more sense for Indians to keep if you can only pick one?

Trade Alex Gonzalez for Yunel Escobar. Although I'm not sure if it would be realistic
