Re: trying to aquire Lance berkman before the deadline in my franchise

ya, i tried my offer but they rejected it, 2 A potential SP's and coco crisp. the deadline passed now and they put him on trade waivers so if he passes i might take another swipe at him but the brewers put prince fielder on trade waivers as well so i dunno. id take fielder over berkman any day but i dont know if i can pull that off. i put a waiver in on him just for shizz and giggles but who knows. thanks for the help guys but it looks like there is a good chance ill just have to stick it out with cust as my DH and see what happens. i was able to connor jackson like in real life for the same exact deal which was cool, and he has been really good for me so far but i wanna unload coco. i mean hes got a .294 average for me and is playin good ball im just not a fan of his and never was. i prefer davis in center with more power in left. now that i have jackson im not even really using coco except for late inning pinch running.

Depending on whether or not the Marlins are in the hunt at the break... I think I would have saved Lee for that trade... You gotta figure that they would want strong veteran pitching for their playoff run... and aside from Figgins and Bradley (cuz you dont trade Ichiro) the Mariners are pretty lean on talent (according to the game)

Otherwise you could sign a SP like Washburn and then offer him up... If they dont bite.. then at least you fill a rotation hole b/c in my M's chise... the #5 spot is horrid... Snell/Petit/Fister/Vargas are all struggling at that position.

Astros got the better end top catching prospect and a pitcher thats almost as good as Oswalt but its still a pretty decent deal considering Roy Oswalt is way more consitent than Burnett.

Hmmmm... I think the Yankees lost big time on this one?? What was your reasoning behind this???

Now, first I understand your willingness to get rid of Burnett b/c I simply cant pitch with the guy... his control is horrid... especially with the curve... its either a wild pitch or a meatball for me usually... BUT... you could have probably gotten a much better/younger pitcher for Burnett and A rated prospect Montero...

Why would you get rid of Montero anyway??? You know Posada is on his way to retirement... who's gonna be your everyday Catcher? Cervelli and his HUGE helmet? Either way... you can buy whomever is available in the offseason... but Im still puzzled on why you chose Oswalt?? Why not Cliff Lee??

              Good Luck.

Not a trade I would've made, but it's fair enough and puts you in a better position for the current season

The reason is that I'm looking for more consistency and A.J. was not giving me that.
I treat prospects as prospects, Montero wouldn't have been starting for me next year or the year after most likely. Cervelli will most likely take over the job and I'm fine with that, and if it comes down to it I have the money to buy someone on the market. And believe me I wanted Cliff Lee, but he is on the DL for the rest of the season though.

Thank you for the luck, I will need it!

If you're worried about in-game realism, it's fine. If you're looking for REAL LIFE realism, it's not. In real life the Astro's would be looking to just dump Oswalt's salary, so you could get him pretty cheap (Maybe Austin Romine or Slade Heathcott just to give them something) and there's no way the would take on Burnett's contract as that would defeat the purpose. But I guess it makes sense because they get a great prospect for taking on the contract, but I doubt the Yankees would ever deal Montero.

They wouldn't take either of them! I have no problem with giving away Montero because in my eyes he is not a finished product. And why not give him to a rebuilding team who has plenty of time to let him grow. Hate it or love it that's just the way I look at him. Thank you for the response!

I love Berkman, but I would only offer a B level prospect and a c level one or two. If you're putting two C level prospects in there, make sure one of them is one you don't want anyway. Keep in mind you are doing them a favor by taking on that salary. This is just my opinion, and I'm an Astros fan.

                            Jake Westbrook

I am in my first year with the Indians and I want to trade Jake Westbrook and Jhonny Peralta. I am at the begining of July and the trade market is just getting going. Only 2 trades that I didn't initiate. All the players on the block have 1 yr left and I don't want someone I am going to loose next season. Peralta seem to be a untradeable so I was hoping to lump him in with Westbrook. Anyone have an luck unloading him or trading for him and what did it take? All I am looking for is a average or better prospect or two

                              Dunno about Montero/Burnett for Oswalt.

Houston already has Jason Castro who plays C, as their top prospect in their farm system.
