Yeah I forgot that Lidge is in his last year of his contract in year 2. So you could even get him in the offseason if other things don't work out.

In my 2nd year of RttS the White Sox traded Mark Buerhle and 1 minor league prospect to the Padres for Adrian Gonzalez and 2 minor league prospects.

        More trades in my franchise:

5-12 Cubs trade RP Franklin Morales to the Angels for C Alex Avila

5-14 Padres trade RP Adam Russell, SP Clayton Richard, and C Nick Hundley to the Marlins for SP Chris Volstad

5-16 Pirates trade C Ryan Doumit to the Mets for 1B Fernando Tatis and 3B Matt Dominguez

5-18 Rockies trade RP Rafael Betancourt, 3B Ian Stewart, and R Merkin Zambrano (first round pick) to the Reds for RF Brad Hawpe - I guess the Rockies decided letting Hawpe walk was a bad idea.

5-19 Twins trade LF Jason Kubel, 1B Jim Thome, and SP Kevin Millwood to the Rangers for SS Reid Brignac and CF Desmond Jennings - Just what I need, the Rangers to get more power and pitching.

Marcus Thames, coming off the DL, made it necessary for the Yankees and their juiced lineup to send someone down. They decided to send Nick Swisher down. Since he is out of options, he has to pass through optional waivers. Hoping for a reunion, I made a claim on him. We will see in a couple of days whether or not he moves back to Oakland. It would be nice having that extra power from both sides of the plate. He has this year and next left on a relatively cheap contract. Since he was one of my favorites while here in Oakland, I guess I could overlook the Yankee hat.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question, I'm new here. I'm at July 30th in my franchise and no trades have happened, so I thought something was fishy about that. I simulated past the deadline and still no trades happened. I'm almost positive that I had the CPU trading on when I set up the franchise, and I can't find the option anywhere now that I'm in the franchise. Could this be caused by anything other than me mistakingly having the CPU trading turned off? Is there anyway to fix it, either way?

Trades that would have happened in my franchise if I'm not using 30 team control :

Angels send Matsui to NY Yankees
NY Yankees send : J. Montero and another prospect.

Reds send B. Arroyo and Y. alonso to me (Diamondbacks)
              Arizona send B. Webb, 1 A SP and 1 A potential 3B.

Rockies send B. Hawpe to NY Yankees
NY Yankees send : J. Montero and another prospect.

Top prospects that are heavily requested : J. Montero, Y. Alonso, P. Alvarez.

The same thing happened to my old franchise. I have no idea what I did wrong so I've kept the save file but started a new franchise.

I don't use 30 team control and if I did and vetoed trades I didn't like then the Yankees wouldn't have Lance Berkman or Chipper Jones to enhance their already powerful lineup. While I don't agree with all the trades, in the end teams like Boston and New York aren't afraid of trading away prospects of the future for players that mash today. Just as it should be. If it doesn't work, well they can always buy those prospects back in a few years when they are free agents. I like that teams are willing to trade away their future for the now. Teams do it all the time in real life. And then there are teams like the A's that send away good players for prospects in hopes of going young repeatedly to no avail. There is a reason why prospects are called that and why teams should be trading 3 or more for stars. I hate when people come on here and say so and so prospect is untouchable in real life. This is never the case, no matter how badly fans want to believe it. If the right circumstances come up, any player can be traded. Yes, even Derek Jeter.

I'm playing as the Rockies and figure I might try and trade away Mr. Rocky himself - Todd Helton in favor of someone like Pujols, Fielder or even Braun (can have him play 3B and move Ian Stewart over to the 1B spot)

I know this is sort of unrealistic, but those guys are all on the trading block (dumb cpu).

Should I let go of the aging Helton? He is hitting .313 and has 11 HR, 25 RBI through May.

Good luck. Just being on the trading block doesn't guarantee they can or will be traded. And why would you trade Helton when he is performing like that?

I figure look toward the future now - I actually turned on force trades anyway, but plan to make it fair if I do end up going for any of them. Helton and some A prospects.

                          Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

                          I had a couple of trade offers pop up;

the Giants offered C Bengie Molina and RP Guliiermo Mota to the Pirates for two minor league A prospects (CP and 1B).

A good trade offer from the Giants perspective, but I don't think that the Pirates are in any position to move prospects for aging talent. If they were in the pennant race it might make sense, but they are in the cellar in the NL Central and also I don;t think that they would want to take on additional payroll (both Molina and Mota make over 1.5m a year).

                          So I rejected that one.

I also had the Braves offer SS Diory Hernandez and RP Takashi Saito to the Rays for SP David Price (him again!!).

Again it makes sense for the Braves, and to some extent the Rays. Saito is arguably the Braves best reliever, and the Rays pen had been struggling a little. But he is 40 years old, so this would not benefit the Rays long term. Hernandez is an A prospect, but the Rays have Reid Brignac at SS already and he's an A as well. Maybe Hernandez could be moved to another position of need?

Still thinking on this one. At first I was inclined to reject it, but I might make a counter offer and try to get another player from the Braves. Not sure.

$1.5 million a year is chump change for any team, even the Pirates. I don't know their system very well, but don't they have Doumit catching for them? If not, having an aging catcher with experience is worth prospects. I feel that catcher is the one position that going young is not a good option. Look at Posey now. They have him at first because he isn't ready for full time duties behind the plate.

I have to wonder with 30 man team control if you see more trades because the trade proposals in 1 team control get rejected behind the scenes if they are not too fair. I wish there was a way to see this. It also depends on performance a little. For example, I made a trade for Carlos Quentin that was rejected when my trade piece, Justin Duchscherer, was in a cold spell, but accepted when he got over it.

That's possible. can you view pending trade offers ona daily basis like w/ 30 team control.

And you're right, the Pirates have Doumit (and Jason Jaramillo a decent backup). With the Pirates (playing amateur GM) I figured that trading away prospects for a 36 year old relief pitcher and a 35 year old catcher making 4.6 M in the last year of his contract didn't really make sense. (and they're 17 games out of first on 6/23, so this is pretty much a lost season).

Yeah, I did a fantasy draft and now am faced with a tough decision. I have no desire to keep Yunel Escobar and am trying to trade him to the Yanks for Tulowitzki. They want Votto with Yunel, but would give me any "B" Rated player with Tulo. Should I do it? I have Buster posey at 1B behind Votto, and have no room for Buster at C, because Wieters is there. Should I go Tulo/Posey or Votto/Escobar. STATS BELOW

                                Troy Tulowitzki: .486, 6 HR, 24 RBI
                                Buster Posey: 1.000 (1 for 1), 1 RBI
                                Joey Votto: .306, 6 HR, 17 RBI
                                Yunel Escobar: .192, 1 HR, 5 RBI
