I am not sure why you are seeing the Pujols trade repeatedly, unless of course you aren't and just being a wise a$$

Oh, no, I wasn't trying to be a smart alec at all...I've played through the trade deadline in 2 franchises, and simmed countless others testing various things, and I've seen that trade about 6 times. On that note, I've only seen David Price traded once, and AJ Burnett gets trade almost every time, but to various teams.

That's interesting, I wasn't treating it as a glitch, and in fact, the trade isn't even really that bad, I just have seen it in a majority of the franchises I've done.

I think this is one of those that numerically might make sense within the programming of the game, but doesn't take the human factor into account. Mauer got the long term deal as he is literally the face of the Twins franchise, and will probably spend his whole career with the Twins (or close to it). He's the epitome of the hometown hero in Minneapolis. I don't think the Twins would have cracked open the checkbook if he wasn't, regardless of his talent level.

Of all the current players in the MLB I would think Mauer is as close to untouchable as there is. At least for the forseeable future.

Cool. I thought at first you were being one of those guys that sees something once and comes on here saying "every time". I like and dislike seeing so much variance. I like it because that is how it should be. I dislike it because it keeps me from being able to nail down the CPU trade logic. The more constants I can find, the easier it is to figure out what variables to look for. Now I have to go back to The Show acting mimicking real life. Man I really hate that, lol. About Pujols, I just remembered that in my current franchise he was injured through June and much of July, which could be why I didn't see him get traded. He also signed a big contract with the Cards so I doubt he will get traded for a few more years. It would seem that there is very little chance of me getting him. I am at the end of April and Ben Sheets is already on the trade block (signed with Boston), so maybe I can get him back.

I haven't seen any trades yet at the end of April, but I did see three players that were drafted last season already get the call up. Kind of cool, although I think the Tigers rushed their 18 year old catcher up a bit too soon. Not my call though.

CardsLeadingTheWay, thanks a bunch, that was totally helpful.
I'm going to check it now and post all the trades that have happened so far, see if you guys can come to a conclusion of how good they look.
Having said that, there have been 2-3 trades since then but nothing way over the top. I think the biggest name traded was Jeff Francis to Kansas City, other then that the only other trade that comes to mind is St Louis trading for Matt Stairs as Pujols is on the DL currently and wont be back for a month or two I believe.

One thing I have noticed is that the Rays were definitely contending in each of the seasons they made the trade for Pujols, which I thought was pretty realistic. People like to say that the Cards would NEVER trade Pujols, but you never know...I mean there were rumors abound this offseason even...

Anyway, I play Oakland too, they are my favorite team, and for all intents and purposes my hometown team. The only trade I've made through June 15th is swapping Jack Cust with Milwaukee for LaTroy Hawkins and trading away some C level prospects to get Bill Bray from Cincinatti because my bullpen was horrible. I'm waiting around until July to see if I'm within striking distance of LAA before I decide whether or not trading Ben Sheets is the right move.

If you play with the A's, how is your bullpen horrible? You should have one of, if not the best, in the majors. Ben Sheets is a tough decision to move. I just dominated with him, but much like the real A's, you can't win with pitching alone. I traded Sheets for Carlos Pena straight up. It worked out very well for both teams. I then re-signed Pena and made a half hearted attempt to get Sheets back, but once Boston opened up the check book, I was left in the dust. I am considering making a trade with them to get him back, but that will most likely have to wait until the deadline gets closer. Otherwise the want Bailey, Anderson and Suzuki, lol.

I'm actually on the current day, June 11th on my Franchise - still no trades. Kind of nice. I know I'll make a minor move or two, so something will get done.

First trade of my season just happened on May 10th:

Yankees trade RP David Robertson and SS Edward Salcedo to the Reds for SP Homer Bailey, RP Jose Arrendondo and 1B Lance Berkman

So now the Yankees have the same heavy hitting lineup they started with, but have since added Chipper Jones and Lance Berkman. God I hate the yankees. At least their farm system should be pretty well picked over by now.

a trade offer is on the table that I am highly considering:

                    Phillies get:

                    SS Jose Reyes

                    Cardinals get:

                    CP/RP Brad Lidge
                    RP Chris Perez

My bullpen has been shoddy the entire season and Reyes is hitting a cool .230 something. Really, really considering making this trade.

I am sure it would cut some payroll for you and help shore up that bull pen. Kill two birds with one stone and get Perez back. The question is how much of a game changer is Reyes for you? I have Rajai Davis hitting around 240 but he really changes the dynamics of the game when he is in. He is in scoring position as soon as he gets on base, plus he can cover some serious ground in the outfield. But he is also not making very much money and I have a solid bull pen. Tough call.

Yeah..I'm really wavering on this potential trade. Pen needs some serious help..and adding Perez(6 yr contract with about $3M a yr) and Lidge(1yr $6M) would be a serious upgrade, but would leave me with two dilemas:

                        1) Who to put at SS

                        2) Leadoff spot. Although I could put Schumaker back at the top, but he's having a tremendous year hitting in the 2 spot(.342 with 2 hr's 31RBI) and is getting on base for Pujols a ton, which is protecting him, since Ludwick is hitting .290ish behind Pujols.

Really trying to decide what to do. Reyes is pissing me off, but don't wanna make a hasty decision.

Told myself I was going to make a decision before the All-Star break....4 days to think.

6 year contract for $3 mil? Not bad for a young stud reliever and future closer. What are your SS options? Also, what happened to Holliday?

yeah Perez would be a great addition to the pen, as he would join Zumaya and Motte who have been lights out. I really messed up letting Franklin sign elsewhere as I had the perfect 7 to 8 to 9 assembly line in the pen.

                            SS options would be:

Tyler Greene, Mark DeRosa, or Javier Arias(Rule 5 selection). I let Felipe Lopez go in the offseason after signing Reyes and Ryan refused to sign with us and went to the Giants. I also have a potential star in the minors, but he's not ready for the Show yet.

And Matt Holliday broke his leg the first week of May. He should return the first part of August...at least I hope.

If so, an idea of thought off the top of my head ( so excuse me if I wake up and realize it wasn't as good as I thought) would be to look around the league first and see what it might cost you to get a guy like a Luis Castillo, Juan Pierre, etc. If it is something cheap I definitely consider doing the trade because if Reyes isn't hitting for you; you might be 1. getting similar if not better production 2. at a better price plus 3. filling your need at closer and adding another reliever.

Actually left field is a revolving door between:

                                Mark DeRosa
                                Chris Duncan

                                Nick Stavinoha

Trying to find some decent production both at the plate and in the field from that position. Holliday can't get back soon enough.

I've thought about it. But Holliday will be back shortly, so I'm going to try and hold off. I appreciate the suggestion though.
