What year are you in and what type of injury? If you are past the draft you can always sim ahead and see the future to see if he retires, you know since it is a video game lol. I believe that it is always the same after the draft, since that sort of determines how many players the game needs to remove to make room for new draftees. I can't verify this personally, but I believe others have seen the same pattern.

I would go for a prospect you like in real life, like Alonso, since all of them will most likely progress into studs. I wish I could say that you can train anyone to be whatever type of player you want them to be, but sadly I can't since training is such a mystery.

I literally just did the draft last night, after my last game. Perfect timing to check it out then I guess. This is my first year.

Same with Dominguez in my current franchise, he was traded 3 times in one week. Marlins to the Cards to the Dodgers.

On a curious note, any of the draft picks from your first franchise doing anything yet? The pirates had the number 2 overall pick and they took a stellar 1st baseman that they called up already and is leading the league in rookie of the year voting.
a few were in the All-Star game at the AAA and AA level, but none on are on the MLB club quite yet.

What's wrong with that one? Greinke has proven to be a stud. Strasburg has a LOT of potential, but that's all it is at this point. Francisco Liriano was well on his way to being the #1 pitcher in the game, but he got hurt and has never been the same. If I am the Royals and someone offered me this trade, I'd refuse it.

Yeah...one problem with your logic: Strasburg brings in revenue.

That's what makes that trade look bad - not nearly as terrible as some of the previous ones posted, but still.

Maybe that's not reflected in the game, but Strasburg has generated so much buzz and has had such an affect on the Nationals fan base that it's hard to see any trade involving Strasburg as being fair, or even a good deal for the Nationals. If Strasburg turns out to be a bust, much like Wood or Prior did before him, at least the Nats will walk away with some revenue and a fan base that'll care to see them improve into playoff contenders in the next few years.

He's the hottest player going now, that's for sure. Greinke is going to win for the next 10 years. I've heard talks that Strasburg's elbow is going to break down within 2-3 years if he keeps throwing like this. Probably BS, but I think in real life the Nats would take Greinke for him. If not, they're dumb.

I can't see how dealing the no.1 prospect in baseball is dumb at all. And i know greinke had a great year last year but he's not THAT good to warrant a trade like this. No way the nats do this trade.

nothing worse than coming to the trade deadline and feeling as though there is no move that can be made to improve your team, and you're trailing the division by 6 1/2 games.

I feel that the pieces are there, we're just not executing.

I know right? I feel like I have everything I need, save perhaps a second baseman, but it just hasn't quite come together yet. I have tons of pitching prospects to trade, but I have no idea what a trade would do for my team or whom to go after. I don't want to be the Yankees and have an all star at every position (ok maybe I do). Fortunately we are still leading the division, but that isn't saying much when the Rangers have lost something like 5 in a row. When they get hot again, I will be screwed. And now that the Angels have gotten hot, it is only a matter of time until the race becomes a win every series or go home. On top of that, we still have to play the rangers a lot more and they just destroy me.

Hi should I let this trade go through in my franchise. The Yankees who have already got Ublado Jimenez from the Rockies trading away Mariano to get him and now they are giving up Javier Vazquez and Randy Winn for Grady Sizemore. I let the Ublado trade go though because they pitching was playing very poorly ang they could make Joba or Hughes their closer, but this one doesn't make that much sense to me, but this one makes less sense unless they are trying to get rid of salary and trying to get younger, but what do you guys think is this a fair trade for both teams. BTW the Indians are the worst team in baseball and the Yankees are in first place with the Rays on their shoes if that matters.

Sometimes I wonder if there is some built in chemistry system into the game. I know the game has morale of a player, but I'm wondering if there is one for the team. The reason I say this is that I had 3 major changes to a club that played really well last year, but just came up short. And now, with basically the same team in tact and a few "significant" additions, the team is severely struggling to be contenders.

I added Jose Reyes to fill in need at SS - Jon Lester to be left handed started in rotation - Joe Maddon to be manager after La Russa bolted for Florida. Looking at those additions, along with others, I would've thought that divisional foes would have to play outstanding baseball from April to October to keep up, but it turns out that good baseball is handling my average baseball pretty well.

I am seriously considering trading Reyes and letting either Tyler Greene or a hot young prospect take over SS. Lester isn't going anywhere because my starting pitching is one of the best in the majors. As for Maddon, well, I can't do anything, and won't make any decisions until the offseason.
