Of course I kept Bailey. He only cost me about 400K. I offered him a four year deal at $8 mil per, but he turned it down. It looks like I will have to either pay him the $13 mil he wants, or hope I win arbitration. I think I will shoot for about $10 mil per at 4 years and see if he takes it. And then also offer arbitration at somewhere between $8-11 mil and hope to win the arbitration.

I traded with the Yankees because my defense was horrible with a bunch of rookies.
Me Yankees
Michael Wuertz Robinson Cano
Brett Anderson Joba Chamberlain Curtis Granderson
It might seem a bit unrealistic but Brett Anderson is a great pitcher in game and is in a 4 year contract and Mike Wuertz did so good last year relieving and almost all the players I picked are at the end of their contract when I checked.
I'm looking to deal Aj Burnett who's a perfect 4-0 and is my ace with 4 years remaining. I was temped to bring the vulcan change pitcher Ian Kennedy for a taste of uniqueness and Justin upton who would be reat as a right fielder (Jack Cust is just a bit nervewrecking to have out there) and move Jack Cust as my DH. Ian Kennedy's over all is a bit too low but the trade is duable. I would love to get those great GM's opinions from these forums..Favorite teams:
MLB- Oakland Athletics
NFL- Tampa Bay BuccaneersComment

Dealt Damaso Marte for Scot Shields. Both players had ERA's in the 7's and LA needed a lefty.Note to self: BUY MADDEN 12*
*there are considerable franchise upgrades

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I think I may have come up with a decent deal for both teams and actually get something for Daric Barton.
A's trade Barton to the Blue Jays for 19 year old first round pick (9th overall) 3B Termel Paxton.
The Blue Jays need a 1st baseman better than Ruiz and they already have Brett Wallace as their 3rdbaseman of the future. I think I could get more so then I thought up a second trade:
Barton and C Landon Powell for Paxton and SP Kyle Drabek. Powell is quite a bit better than Buck. I like this second trade best, as I was planning on letting both players walk away for nothing. Instead I get a future Eric Chavez (although he has 2B list as secondary so he might get the call up as soon as next season to try fill that hole), and I get Drabek as well. We are really loaded up with pitchers in our system, but one can never have too much pitching, right?Comment

Not really sure since I have Tulo at SS for my team, so I never really look into SS's all that much. I think I see Jose Reyes on the trade block often - maybe he would be considered a fair trade? (Dice-K has good stats for this game, if I recall)Comment

I'm leaning toward staying pat at the deadline, and struggling through with the relievers I have until McClellan gets back. I have a 9 game lead, so I can afford to try out some of the guys I have for awhile. I've experimented with trades a bit, and here are some of my other options:
Cardinals trade RF Allen Craig for Bob Howry. Howry is 1-6 with a 4.5 ERA, and hasn't pitched well at all. I don't mind giving up Craig, but I'm not sure Howry is an upgrade over what I have.
Cardinals trade 1B Ross Gload to NY Mets for Kiko Calero. I'm seriously considering this one, but Calero is under contract for 5 years at about 2 mil per. He's their highest rated reliever, but has been in AAA all season for some reason.
A lot of teams seem to want Brendan Ryan, but I haven't found a good match. I could use him in a deal with the A's for Scot Shields, but it wouldn't make much sense for them because they have Izturis and Aybar at SS.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
The downside with the trade is that I lose Barton's production and have to call someone else up to replace him. Most likely it will be Pennington coming back up, which is good with rookie Grant Green struggling to hit righties lately. I also would have to call up Fox to replace Powell as the backup catcher. That isn't really a major deal since Powell doesn't play much anyway and hasn't been productive at all. Fox can suck just as bad as Powell every 5th game or so. He does have a lot of power against righties so maybe that will translate into some production. I had planned on Fox being the backup next year anyway since he is under contract for one more year so this part of the trade does nothing but help me. Plus I like adding the son of a player I used to watch.
I don't know if Calero is good on this game. I haven't used him since the MVP 05 days when he was on the A's. He wasn't that good for me back then. If he is under contract for 5 years, that isn't always a bad thing. Relievers are relatively easy to trade in this game. You could always flip him next year for some decent prospects if he doesn't work out, and certainly better players than Gload, so it looks like a win-win.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
The Calero trade is the one I would most likely do out of all of them. I wouldn't mind getting rid of Gload anyway since my bench has swung to be heavy on lefties. I keep thinking Storen will fill the role I want him to this year, but he hasn't done well in the majors at all. I'd like to get him into a few more low pressure situations, but that may have to wait until September.Comment

Try taking a look at Ryan Theriot of the Cubs. He can play shortstop, and with Castro behind him, it's quite possible he's expendable if they want Fontenot to man second base.NFL: Green Bay Packers

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Barton trade. It went through in one day. I like to reverse the trade just to see how fair it was, and I got zero interest from the CPU, so in their eyes at least I think they may have gotten the better deal. I also had one of my AAA SP go down for 3-4 months with a head fracture, so Drabek got slotted in the rotation right away. I had to call up Fox as my backup catcher and Pennington as the SS/backup middle IF. Barton has hit two home runs a a triple with the Blue Jays in three games. I also had to go out and get some scrub catcher from FA to complete my roster instead of being one short in AA. The deadline is about a week away now and the only player move I may make is Breslow, but I would be fine keeping him as well. It is never a bad thing to have good lefty pitching in the bull pen. Besides, the only offer I get is from the Dodgers for a second rate CF prospect and an A pitching prospect that is very low over all and 27 I think. The only teams I could trade him to at this point would most likely be contenders and none of them are giving up anything I want so I am most likely done trading for this season.Comment

Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**
I went ahead and made the trade to get Calero. I haven't decided who to send out from the bullpen to make room for him yet. I'm leaning towards Walters, but if Smoltz struggles again I may need him to start, and I don't want to violate my 10-day rule for calling guys back up from AAA.
Stavinoha replaced Gload on the bench. He was batting .343 in Memphis since being sent down. I'm done trading unless I get a good offer from another team. I may look to trade The Mustache in August. He's batting .190 since being sent down, and I'm not re-signing him, so I'd take a bag of balls for him at this point.Comment
