Re: MLB 11 The Show Community Day Discussion Thread - Questions, Answers etc.

Knight kind of hit on this, so I apologize for the dupe if its the same question. When players are walking up to bat, will it show their AVG, HR, RBI etc? The first at bat of each game it would show their stats, but every at bat thereafter it shows only that days stats (1-3, 2B etc). Is there any way they can have it show season stats with the day up date right over it? I dont have a screen shot, but most broadcasts show their average and season stats and in smaller font on top it shows the stats for that day.

    Anything like this implemented?

yeah, I noticed that, but I figured if they are taking pics of LF and CF, they may as well snag one for RF in case something else is off, but at least so far, it seems we are just going to have to wait until March 8th to find out if they updated it. Too bad we weren't Yankee or Red Sox fans, and our fields would be perfect.

Yeah i also wondered if this would ever get fixed in the series.... kinda annoying... they need to close the glove a lot more....though looks like an issue that will have to wait for '12?

I'm interested in this too. I hope Karros doesn't sound robotic. Would be solid if all the booth guys could sound like they're all talking TO eachother and not AFTER eachother. If that makes sense lol

Last year, I noticed that hitting for a high average was a little difficult for players with a low power rating. Regardless of their contact rating (unless it was REALLY high).

Players like Mark Reynolds and Adam Dunn seemed to hit for higher than real life averages (in played games), while it was really tough for me to have a breakout year (batting average wise) with players with low power (Brett Gardner for example).

I don't want to turn this into a ratings debate because I'm sure there are those that had things play out differently than me, but I was basically wondering:

Has any work been done on how Contact/Power ratings AND/OR pretty much ratings in general translate into played games, or can we pretty much expect the player ratings to reflect similarly (once the controls become familiar) as 10'?

I understand this is a broad question, but any player ratings info would be great, even if it doesn't necessarily relate to my poorly worded question.

              Here is the deal.
You will be able to take any generated player...ANY POTENTIAL...and export him to your XMB.
You can then upload him to the Vault(edited or not...doesn't matter, you can edit him later if you just want to get a certain potential to import)
(or if you are just looking to set up your own roster....just leave him on the HDD)
Now you go to the MANAGE ROSTER screen and pick a player(ANY PLAYER....real MLB player...dev player....fake gen player) and choose IMPORT player(it has to be P for P or position player for position player(maybe even specific position...I didn't think to look) and the player you chose to replace disappears from your roster completely.
So basically, you can have a roster of all fake players...all with A potential if you like for every organization.
You can make the mix any way you like. No limitations EXCEPT for the number of each position/pitcher.
So yes...you can have a bunch of guys...all working on different teams....sending the players back and forth to quickly dispatch a completely finished roster file(one guy will have to put it together...that's all)

              Should be a dream.

Stay tuned for another nice little announcement....this one is another wish of mine....I just need the blog to drop before I can explain it.

I've already given reasons for the other.
Not to beat a dead horse here, but ball four is live whether it is caught clean or in the dirt. The batter-runner animation shouldn't be based on this.

Posted this a while back but probably got lost amidst the 1000+ post shuffle:

                  Anyone with Season/Franchise/RTTS knowledge-
Was the Silver Slugger award corrected to award one per position? Also, was any of the award logic tweaked, specifically Gold Glove?? Thanks!

I have a question for RTTS, since advancement goals are returning, what were some of the ones that showed up for position players? Are there difficult goals such as accumulating 29 bases in 4 series, or sustaining a .360 OBP over the course of 6 series?

I told Kolbe about the Silver Slugger issue. They will not be able to get to it this year, but it is on their list.

As far as logic, I do not believe anything for this year as far as that is concerned. But some under the hood tweaks somewhere else may have an impact.

We will have to wait and see.

The goals have been much more relaxed. And are mainly there for a baseline for you to follow. Nothing crazy, I think I seen "have a BA over .220." Nothing lofty like in years past.

Hey fellas, great work. You make the best sports game every year with The Show.

I'm a huge RTTS player and have read about some of the great additions that were added to that game mode this year. I'm not exactly sure how to phrase this, but, was curious to know if there have been any more emphasis put on contracts, manager interactions, etc.

For instance, I recall last year, when my RTTS player was maxed out in attributes (I sim a lot, so get through a ton of seasons) and ended a contract, no teams would offer him a contract, even though he was like 27-28 years old (the prime of his career). So, I guess my question is, has these types of minor issues been addressed?

Another visual question: Do players jersey get dirtier in a more realistic manner? like sliding into second, more dirt on the backend etc.? Does anyone know anything about improved dirty jersey's
