How do you correctly attempt a pick off throw?

It seems when I hit left trigger the pitcher first steps off mound then throws?

I believe holding the trigger, then clicking, tapping, and even holding the correct button to where you wanna throw will make him throw it differently..ie casual throw over, a deceiving move if the pitcher has one, and a quick pickoff attempt.

Ramone said earlier on that your pitching technique would not be especially successful on higher difficulties.

On HOF and Legend, the penalty for not hitting the lines is much greater.

I'd suggest trying these modes out, pitching in the manner that the analog meter was designed, before using your current technique.

Can someone comment on the zone hitting in the game.

How hard is it compared to last years version of zone and does it gives comparable hit quality etc. as the analog hitting system does.


I'm an old dog as well and not sure if i'll be able to master this new fangled stick business but i will give it a try once i have the game!

I don't know if anyone an answer this.... but...

Does anyone know if the grounds crew wears their respectable colors for each team? I noticed they wore bright red shirts in san fran forthe demo, so any answer would be cool. Thanks.

R2 for swing influence and guess pitch. What I like to do is initiate a practice swing by pressing up on the right analog stick. During the animation hold R2 and point the R-Stick in the direction you want to influence. You will feel a slight rumble letting you know its done correctly

How do you influence swing when you're batting timing and you have guess pitch activated?

Can anyone that's still using button fielding controls figure out how to get outfielders to throw home with total accuracy ?... No matter what I do my throws are always going off line unless I use analog

The rings when using button controls don't seem to display throw accuracy like they do with analog ??

Can anyone give me any pointers or am I stuck using analog throwing if I want to be able to make accurate throws home ??

Dont always go full power...medium (green bars) is usually enough to gun people down, full power throws are way too likely to go offline.

How come so many are struggling with analog throwing? Whats so difficult about pushing the stick in a certain direction? Im not hating, Im just confused..I almost find it to easy? I would think its common sense to not hold the stick all the way till the red maxes out no?

Is there anyway to get rid of the contact/regular/power swing and the guess pitch icons on the bottom corners of the screen while batting? Those are really annoying and if they didn't give us the option I don't get why. They just become an eye sore.

i would like to know this as well. did we get an answer to this?

Just to clarify I don't mean I can't stop it on or near the white line, I can't stop it period.

Just mashed a HR right down the line (with the no-doubter tell screen) on a Contact swing - you'd better believe it can be done.

Sounds like input lag assuming you're doing everything right. Try pressing it earlier than you think you should have to.

How the heck do you bunt?

Changed it back to zone hitting after giving analog a go... but it says circle is contact swing now... so it swings instead of bunts. And X is also still swing. How the heck do I bunt?
