Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
I can't understand it!! With all the things these guys do for hardcore baseball fans, why wouldn't they do this? It seems like a minor gripe, but i like seeing a whole guy's career. I may try out 2k this year, i've been a Show guy since 08 and have loved it.Comment

Secondly, if you really want to see your guys stats you could always just copy/paste them into an excel spreadsheet. I used to do this with AS baseball, putting all of the league leaders/standings/my players stats into an excel spreadsheet before starting the next season."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
I played 2 games against the Astros to see if teams really played like their real life counterparts.
First, I used the Pirates and hosted the Astros:
The Astros were beating me 7-1 in the 7th inning when I cried uncle and quit. The Pirates fielders are terrible.( But, I didn't know how bad until I played the second test game).
The left fielder couldn't get to anything and stumbled in one instance that turned a single into a triple. The 1st baseman and 3rd baseman couldn't make any of the tough plays, only the routine ones. All hot shots down the lines were un-fielded.
The relief pitching was no relief at all.
Test game 2 I used the Reds and hosted the same Astros and put the same pitcher on the mound (Noris, the Astros #3 starter)
Rolen and Votto must have made 4 great plays between them, robbing sure hits, if not doubles. The outfielders were so much better and responsive, getting to everything. Votto and Bruce went yard from regular swings with no guessing, just working the count.
I started the game with Volquez mistakenly thinking he was Chapman. Anyway, he dominated for 6 and 2/3 at which time I did bring in Chapman.
For those wondering... Chapman is a freak. I hit 99 with his 2 seamer several times and hit 101 with his 4 seamer just as many times. Although the game was out of hand I wanted to see what Cordero could do so I used him in the 9th. Holy Moly, he was awesome and his motion is perfectly represented.
Reds fans, you are lucky to have that team. My goodness they are fun to use.
SCEA, you are the Michael Jordan of video game developers.
May none of you who are reading this post think that this is TheShow 10.5
It most certainly is not. Fielding is sublime and all the guys who already said you can tell the difference between poor, average, and great fielders were absolutely right.
Also, the broadcast camera specific for each stadium is the greatest innovation of this game, despite there being many.
Until you guys are ready to start your franchise play a few innings in a bunch different ballparks to see what I mean.
I have never really been the "go out and buy this game" cheerleader but I can say with all confidence that if your reading this thread you must go get this game.
Trust me when I tell you that SCEA has earned your money. That cannot be said about many developers. And no, I'm not a community day attendee nor do I have any special relationship with SCEA nor did I get an early copy of the game.
I'm just a former ball player who cannot believe how amazing this game isComment

This is what I'm talking about, reducing meter size and placing it near the plate is nice because you can see the windup real good in your periphral. But notice the ball is in the air, so please make the meter go away so I can put it up higher where the catcher is

It owned it.... made some renovations and the put it on Ebay.
I just bought it back and am giving it another shot. It freaking scary at times when I go to throw... First time I've ever felt that way playing D in a baseball game. LolJoshua:

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Ok HOLY MOTHER PUSS BUCKET!!!!!!!!!!!
Spring Training is almost done and I'm borderline ready to retire lol...
I'm currently Using:
AS Hitting
Legend Fielding
HOF Pitching
All with modified sliders.
Anyways Its a blast but man do I have to not waver at all in my concentration. ESPECIAL ON D...
Gone are the days of just being "close" the thr drop area. As the players ratings are lower so is the "happy spot" you can be in to catch the ball. Love it..
I'm currently 4-14 in spring. yeah it's just spring and I've done a ton of subbing but it's not a comfortable feeling lol
28th in team BA
25th in Runs
28th in Hits
30th in Doubles
Tied for 1st in Triples
13th in HR'sLast edited by Skyboxer; 03-08-2011, 08:53 PM.Joshua:

no issues with ticker in franchise mode.
Great addition in my opinion.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

This happened to me yesterday too.
It also was the only game that I did NOT sim all games other than mine on the schedule.
Perhaps that's the problem?
When I simmed the games, the ticker works fine...I think.Comment
