I seriously hate changeups in this game. I played a game against James Mcdonald, and he struck out my first six batters. None of his pitchers are that great, but his fastball goes about 95, and his changeup is as slow as like 73/74.

Now I face Josh Johnson, who by all rights is a MUCH better pitcher, and because his changeup is only like 6MPH slower than his fastball, i'm ripping him.

This is the only problem i've ever had in the Show. Not a problem of the game or anything, but I can't pick wait back on a slow straight changeup to save my life.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but one thing that was kinda bugging me when I was playing last night.... while it's great that I can now see the runner's speed and BR ability (actually this is an awesome feature), it's not displayed for the runner at second base, because the runner at second base does not have a window.

Last year when you paused the game the runner speed would be displayed for all runners on base. Not this year. This means (as far as I can tell) there is no quick way to check the speed/BR ability for the runner at second base.

By the way, I'm loving the game so far

I was having the same problem again this year, and I had to change to catcher cam #2 to over this deficiency of mine. Moving to that hitting cam actually helped me a lot of speed and strike recognition.

I don't know what cam you're hitting on bro, but give that a chance and see if it might help....hopefully it does.

Well in this game against Johnson, i've gone to catcher cam 4, and i'm having much better success picking the ball up. Funny thing is, i've used wide offset since I got the game, and over time, started having trouble picking the ball up for some reason. I was doing well with it until I played more.

I'll give catcher 4 a shot for a few games and see how I like it. I like it more than catcher 5, as i can pick up high pitches a little better. Maybe it was a fluke, as most guys don't have a 20+ MPH difference from fastball to change.

I agree, every game should have the option to turn on/off all overlays and displays. Some people just want to enjoy how beautiful the game is without all of the overlays and hints and reminders and helpers.

That would be super awesome if they could patch it in like Turismo did, but if not I hope they look at it for next year.

And as for rain, it is dynamic. It will periodically not rain, then rain, lighten up, drizzle, stop, etc all in the same game. So it is nicely done.
Ha, glad the Boston guys picked up on that. By the way, did you Sox fans see Pedey call out Karl Ravech on ESPN last week? My gosh, that was hilarious!

Yeah, I forgot about rain being dynamic, and to be fair, I only played 3 innings in that game before moving on, so it could've rained later in that game had I kept playing.

                  3. Still only two (the same two) catcher's masks.

                  4. With men on, the pitcher should really have some animations for checking the runners by now.

                  Yup. That's about it.

the HUD is there for people using the guess pitch feature. if you are guessing the pitch, wouldn't you want to know which button corresponds to the pitch you are trying to guess? just because "x" is fastball for 95% of the guess, for some it is their sinker/cutter/whatever. and the secondary pitches can be all different too.

that being said, if "guess pitch" is turned off (how I play myself) it would be kinda nice for that HUD to disappear...especially since you can see all the pitches and their average speeds in the pitcher/batter pause screen

I'm going to see if I can go into practice mode and just have the pitcher throw fastballs and changeups just so I can adjust my eyes to the difference because I struggle against them as well.

My problem is the slider.. I see fastball coming and when I swing, its at my ankles LOL

I like the practice modes because they help keep me from swinging at everything, which has always been a problem for me. I want to hit, not take pitches

Just pitched one of my best games ever; a one hit shutout with CJ Wilson against Becket and the Sox.

This game is absolutely fantastic. I still can't believe how much better it looks than last years, and even this years demo. Just incredible. And, as has been said 1,000 times, it plays SO smooth.

Analog controls are the greatest addition this franchise has seen IMO... this game has gone from painfully frustrating in years past, to complete enjoyable and intuitive for me; in fact, prior to MLB 11, I was playing on Rookie/Veteran, and now I'm winning 3-0 against the Red Sox on All-Star.

Hell of a game, SCEA, hell of a game

Just noticed a really small but cool thing... if you let the game go to demo mode, you can now choose to either exit back to the menu, or join the game in progress.

One of those things no one ever really thinks of, but is a brilliant idea.
