No, where you are defensively has nothing to do with where you aim the stick. First is always right, second is alway up. Just make sure that you account for the fact that you might not be holding the controller perfectly, so when you think you are pressing the stick towards 3 on the clock, you are actually going towards 2. That happened to me a few times in my first game.

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Loving the game, but 2 things are killing me against the CPU. This isn't a fault of the game, just user error.
1. Throws to 2B (especially on grounders in the infield) are off-target 90% of the time. I just can't seem to get the position of the stick correct. I'm good on 1st, 3rd and home (I've gunned down a couple of runners at the plate and I love that the tags are more responsive this year), but 2nd base has cost me a lot of runs b/c I keep throwing the ball into the outfield.
2. Analog hitting power-outage. I'm doing OK in terms of # of hits, but I don't have a ton of power behind my swings. I get 2-4 doubles a game but I've only 1 no-doubter HR, an inside-the-park HR and an opposite field HR (with my virtual twin DJ of the Rays). I really like the step-and-swing mechanic, even if I do have too many check swings b/c I guess wrong on pitches (usually way too early on changeups/curveballs), but I'm just concerned that if I were to use this hitting method in Franchise, my power numbers would be non-existent.
Other than that, I'm having a blast with this game. I've just been choosing random matchups so I can see a bunch of different ballparks. They all look great, as do the player models. I like the new graphics for the stat overlays as well.Currently Playing:

It's funny you mention the power struggles. The first few times I played the demo, I was hitting home runs all over the place on All-Star. Ever since then, and since I got the game as well, I seem to get nothing but warning track distance. Clearly I'm doing something wrong, just not sure what it is.
Man this game gets you so close to the real thing. I love how every stadium feels didn't.Comment

Yes they will I just played a game and thats all the scoring consisted of was homers. A great 3-2 final in which there were 4 home runs the 2 run homer making the difference.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, or if this was an issue with years past. While rounding the bases in the runner's window, the player's name and number does not show up on the back of their jersey.
Did I miss this last year???Comment
